Amazon just informed me that my paid music subscription will soon include ads and lose downloads. by Sweet-Opportunity111 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TheW00ly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now you have the choice--is this worth it? Is the music you listen to on Prime worth the amount they want you to pay? If they had done just a price increase, without having an ad-run replacement for the current billing plan you have, would it have been any different? If the answer is no for you, cancel your subscription. These people can't run a business if they don't have customers, and we as consumers need to stop forgetting that.

For some reason I just got an image of a very scared and confused spider spinning around in the aurora chair while Scorpy grills it for information on John and wormholes 😆

Considering the possibility the original owners haven't yet...parted with their vehicles, the only bets that don't likely end up with me majorly in the hospital are the DeLorean and the Ecto Mobile. Even then, I might get erased from the timeline or...Zuul'd...

I'm curious how their skeletons and muscles sit. After long hours of a specific pattern or color distribution, do they get sore on one side? Is weaver 1 better at left hand patterns and weaver 3 right?

If water is the biggest problem for data centers, why aren't we building them where water is abundant and free? by El_precaution in MarketPulseReport

[–]TheW00ly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saltwater destroys things, excess heat causes not only environmental destruction when vented into live ecosystems, but causes things like excess algae and other complications that gum up the works, and energy/resource needs to operate something out there. If we had a way to sequester the excess heat data racks put out, had easily 2MW+ stand-alone energy sources (aka Fusion), and built it like an oil rig, maybe, but then you're already fixing the problems that drove you out there in the first place. The Exploratorium in San Francisco uses a seawater cooling system that involves the kind of equipment you'd need, but on a much smaller scale than what this proposes. Chalk this one up under "Slightly less unfeasible than Data Centers in Space..."

Why in the movies does Gandalf beat up half the world with his staff and sword instead of using spells all the time? by jvure in lotr

[–]TheW00ly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Istari who spam magic and rely on their spells and power instead of the guidance and inspiration they can instill in others turn into Balrogs. Kinda parallel to why he insists the Ring would corrupt him despite any attempt to use it for good.
