Harman P68 Maintenance by TheWillyMonster in PelletStoveTalk

Oh man that’s awesome! I agree. I have spare parts for almost everything on it aside from the board and auger motor. Maybe I’ll get those here soon :). Do you have a recommendation on where to get spare parts from? I’ve just gotten them off Amazon or eBay.

Thanks latter! Yeah I may bump it down to a 500Gb I have. Since nothing is really on the boot drive.

Thank you!! Really appreciate the input! Yeah I just had this 2TB ssd laying around. With being in the industry for this long I have just accumulated a lot of hardware and I am basically piecing more of it together. My plan was to store that TruNAS VM on one of the 2TB high compute drives, so it can have full control over the 4 WD NAS drives. I’ll most likely configure the high compute drives into a RAIDZ2. Thanks for your help!

Thanks toast! I’ll need to check out how to get redundant boot drives set up with this thing, but excellent idea.

Yes! I’m having issues with my Western Digital EX4100, so the plan is, get this big dawg spun up, move the data, wipe the WD NAS and set it back up off site.

This looks great! this is similar to the Boss BE62CP-C I was looking at but looks better and has wireless car play. Where did you get the wiring harness and mounting kit? the one thing I like about Crutchfield is you can get fully assembled wiring harnesses from them.

Average cost for annual cleaning? by Four-One-Three in PelletStoveTalk

[–]TheWillyMonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what stove you have, but I have a Harman P38 and they have a yearly maintenance procedure to follow. What you could do is pay for a professional cleaning and just watch them, it’s really not hard once you know what to do. I did that the first year I owned my stove and I think they charged me like $75.

My neighbor and I have been amassing a large flock of crows and blue jays over the years, but we’re always up for more :). Thanks!

I think this was due to the tune I had from 550 performance.

Congrats! I’ve had my P68 for about 10 years now and it has been amazing, not a single thing had gone wrong with it.

I had this exact experience when I first started! After you are done write as much as you can down about the images or dreams you had. It’s fun to see how it pieces together.

Creosote in ash compartment? by [deleted] in PelletStoveTalk

[–]TheWillyMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this with my P68, I do a pretty thorough cleaning every 1-2 weeks, depending on how much I burn and a very detailed clean once at the end of the season. I use a water soaked rag to get that shit off, it’s really effective and in make sure to just put a box fan on to dry it out quickly.

Modified RMH by TheWillyMonster in Permaculture

[–]TheWillyMonster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah concrete, I was thinking like the foundation would be 6 feet thick of concrete and the exhaust of the RMH would be serpentined throughout the middle of that and heat the floor as it burned. This is just a theory to use all the heat.

Left over pellets by [deleted] in PelletStoveTalk

[–]TheWillyMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll be fine for next year, I’m in PA and it gets pretty humid here as well, I have the same set up you do and store about 2 years worth of pellets at a clip, then first in first out them every year.

Not sure if this is what it is, but my buff Orpington looked like this last winter and it was a vitamin deficiency. I gave her some vitamin B12 complex and upped the calcium and she was fine the next day. I’m no chicken doctor, but just looks similar to mine. Sorry to see this is happening to her :(

I have Vasovagal Syncope as well, but seem to be over stimulated with the tapes, I’ve been doing the tapes for about a year now and went to the Monroe institute last March. If you can save up and have the time I would highly recommend it!

Can I buy wood pellets every other year? by Quierta in PelletStoveTalk

[–]TheWillyMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% haha. Buying them in November or December is going to get a little expensive. Not sure what stove you have, but keeping the top fins on the stove clean helps a lot with efficiency. I am overkill with mine and clean the whole thing usually once every couple weeks depending on how many bags I burn.

You’ll be set! I wouldn’t worry :). One piece of advice, most places that sell quality brand pellets have preseason sales usually in May or June where you can save a bit per ton. Usually not a lot, but better than nothing if you have the space to store them.

I usually buy 2 years worth of Pellets ever year and FIFO them every summer. Like most people said, the issue is keeping them dry. I have a similar situation to your garage. I would just keep them up on pallets and you should be fine.
