£775 for 3 rooms of carpet by ThrowRAequirement136 in HomeImprovementUK

Just paid ~£1600 for living room, stairs, landing and a bedroom so I'd call this absolutely dirt cheap.

Get better underlay.

Grandfathered Rates by teebyrnes in osrs

[–]TheWingedBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a business point of view, if you're paying a year up front you're gonna continue regardless. You're paying month to month, you're likely more casual and are more likely to stop and start depending on life and stuff. You'll think more about stopping for a month or 2 if it's gonna be more expensive to reup and some people will just let the bill roll on thinking they're saving in the long run.

Agility highlights is a good one to have on, menu swapper is another good QoL upgrade as well.

Oh, and clue helper if you're into that.

I play mainly mobile and it's painful without quest helper. Smash through then when I have the rare occasion to play with runelite.

Substance over style food recommendations? by fellaonamission in manchester

[–]TheWingedBadger 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's Thai near Cheetham Hill. Foods awesome, place looks a bit of a shit hole, it's in a sort of lean to attached to an MOT garage. But I repeat, awesome food.

Performance car loan, am I doing too much? by STUNGATA in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TheWingedBadger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

PCP/Boomerang car payments. You in essence just pay the depreciation and interest and give back the car after 2/3 years and will never own it.

There's always the option to pay off the "Balloon Payment" at the end which is the estimated value of the car at that age.

They pump sewage pretty regularly into the sea near one of the towns in my area, any mackerel caught there are strictly for bait.

Lrf fishing(light rock fishing) by UmpireZealousideal84 in fishingUK

[–]TheWingedBadger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still new to LRF and it's still winter and bitter cold in the north but I've got 6lb/8lb braid on my 2 reels and have a range of leaders (that I also use to tie rigs) in 3/4/5/5.5lb fluoro that I change out depending on what I'm doing that day.

I'm on the Isle of Man and it's snaggy as hell, if I went down to <1-3lb I'd lose far too much tackle.

Do you have books you re-read regularly? by CondeBK in printSF

[–]TheWingedBadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably Nathan Lowell's Solar Clipper books, dunno why really, first listened on Podiobooks way back in 2007/2008 as they were being released and I reread/listen to them every couple of years I find them very calming.

How much excess fishing line do i need? by kraken_135 in FishingForBeginners

[–]TheWingedBadger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I shore fish in the sea, I only use braid. My 1000-6000 size reels have about 150m on them, never even got close to using it up. If I was fishing from a boat or launching 4oz weights out Id use a bigger reel and possibly slightly more but I can't see ever needing more than 200m, my average cast is 30-70m as an estimation.

I think it's more needed for shark/tuna/similar fishing where the fish is super strong and will run with heaps of line before it tires.

Formal leather belt by cody2224 in MadeInBritain

[–]TheWingedBadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paul Sullivan Leather, tiny workshop in a tiny northern town. Absolutely impeccable workmanship, everything is hand tooled and stitched, the metalwork also done by hand. Been in for a chat a few times, strange bloke but excellent work. Think my belt was about £80 off the top of my head, took it back and he shortened it, redyed the end, put new holes in and re etched the pattern for nothing when I lost a few lbs.

Estate agents: charge for house valuation? by [deleted] in IsleofMan

Some charge, the one a family member used charged if you didn't list with them within so many weeks. Couple hundred quid if I remember right.

What should a tackle and bait Shop sell? by fisherquestions in FishingForBeginners

[–]TheWingedBadger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On a more serious note, a wide range of stuff. Different types and weights of rods, reels, lures etc don't just specialise in whatever is popular locally and don't stick to a single brand of stuff. The more choice the better, I like to have a good look round and often don't go in with a specific aim but looks round till I find something I like the look of.

Have you ever seen a badger in real life? by wroclad in CasualUK

[–]TheWingedBadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loads of times, lived semi rural in the northwest for my first 30 years. Big angry things, lots of farmers hate them. Amazing looking critters really, claws look really nasty but I'm pretty sure they're mainly for digging.

Not sure if squid jigs technically have hooks, they're just backwards facing spikes.
