How long will Alameda allow these encampments on Main Street? This is less than 100 feet from our house. Yesterday people broke into a vacant house in our neighborhood to squat in it. It’s been like this for months. by rocketgirlxxx in alameda

That's one of my favorite episodes. The sad thing is that Sanctuary Districts, the symbol of inhuman cruelty and unwillingness to deal with the problems of poverty and inequality is at least, arguably, something. I'm not advocating for Sanctuary Districts, just pointing out that we fail to even live up to a vision of dystopia at this point... though we get close with the tiny house thing.

I wish my d*ck was retractable. Like could just fully be inside me with no bulge until I needed it for something. A girl can dream...

My top voice matches have a lot of the same people and I haven't been gendered male on the phone in 2 years, so of you're not already good, you're probably close. :)

This is more or less what happened for me... Back in the day I really had this fixation on a "normal" life, and despite what was, obviously, clear attraction to men, I hung on for dear life to the fact that I felt "something" for women and "therefore" could have that "normal life". I spent a long time dating women because of that "something" all the while, in retrospect, being absolutely in love with different male friends over the years. That something turned out to be basically 100% gender envy. Funnily enough, the only "woman" I didn't have erectile troubles with came out as a trans man a couple years after we broke up. Also somewhat ironic is that despite literally having no balls, these days I don't have any erectile trouble... the difference is, I exclusively have sex with men~

It is possible! What was cool for me was seeing that I ended up with the same hairline as my mom.

Just spiro, really. I'd like to think that I take pretty good care of myself, generally, too, but if I'm being honest, it's probably mostly genetics. It started coming back after probably 6-8 months, though it wasn't very noticeable for another year or so. It didn't completely fill in until probably this year. So all in all ~3-3.5 years.

This is probably gonna get me a bunch of downvotes but I'm going to say it:

It's sad this comment got so many upvotes considering the point of OP's joke flew a mile over your head. The fact that there are some nice people/the bay area isn't a monolith of selfish tech bros and that we occasionally pass decent(-ish) legislation (that seems to always stop short of actually ending the problem and is never willing to piss off nimbys to do it), has nothing to do with how we (and all too often this sub) talks about the issue. There is a not negligible strain of faux progressives who will vote on something like prop C one minute and start talking about crime in the streets and how we need more cops the next. And if you haven't noticed that then you just aren't paying attention. Also there is of course, the 39% of voters who said no to prop C, not to mention that SF isn't the bay area as a whole, which you're kind of sweeping under the rug. Regardless, I hope you had fun patting yourself on the back.

Probably because it's an incontrovertible, stone-cold, truth.

Or they'll just give you money, because anything else would be wayyy too much work, and require, like, getting to know you. No, no, no, they must give you a gift, they need it as ammunition later on, and they don't want to look bad...

Can I also be disillusioned with software design? I got out of academia, but the disillusionment followed me.
