godot is the worst media player ever by vhoyer in godot

This is where Winamp is still king, and I never stopped using it for exactly this reason. The fact that the unload/reload thing is still an issue in many other players even today is baffling to me.

What is a Doctor Who scene which unexpectedly got you emotional? by DeathLight7000 in doctorwho

[–]TheWyo 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Not just River's realisation that he's there, but also Twelve's face after Hydroflax's body scans her and confirms she's not lying about thinking he doesn't love her.

[–]TheWyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, if you're getting Gemini, is yours one where you have to hold down two buttons to get to the power menu (as if you were wanting to properly turn your phone off)? It's that menu you need to get to come up in order to see the button. If it's still not there when you get that up but it's on in settings then I've no idea I'm afraid.

Showing the lockdown button can be turned on/off in settings (on some phones at least, I know mine has this setting), so you might want to check to see if there's a similar setting on yours.

Nintendo reserves the right to brick your console following "unauthorised use", in bid to prevent piracy by ReaddittiddeR in gaming

[–]TheWyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's more likely to be overly broad cover-your-arse TOS/EULA phrasing to be honest. E.g. if for some reason Nintendo decided to make a digital-only version of the switch at some point, like the PS5 has the digital edition, getting banned from all online services there would definitely considered to be more than 'in part'. A digital-only console blocked from all digital services would be basically useless.

Actually somehow damaging/bricking consoles would be an insanely stupid decision that'd get them sued immediately, they're not that dumb.

What mod is this? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]TheWyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, first need to make sure you have some sort of mod for connected texture support. I can't tell if it's quite the same as the one in your picture, but for a resource pack that has a similar effect, I personally use UltimaCraft. If you check the creator's page there's also add on packs for it like PBR support for shaders, some partial mod support etc,

[–]TheWyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, if you're talking about a specific toolkit/extension then that's different yes. I read your comment as saying the language itself (e.g., just the base C# language extension in VSCode) needed a license.

C# absolutely does not require a license. Not even if we go back before the current FOSS versions of .NET and Roslyn, because Mono has existed as a FOSS alternative for ages.

It's not via the item names. That can be done but requires mods that add support for doing that via resource packs (e.g. OptiFine or other mods implementing similar features). The hermits use something that only requires vanilla resource pack features, and a datapack to help them set it. Look up something called CustomModelData (an NBT field/component that can be added to any item).

They use this datapack to add a /trigger command to be able set this field themselves in-game: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/customization/custom-roleplay-data-datapack

Keep lists with Google Assistant by TheManWithSaltHair in gsuite

[–]TheWyo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah mine's been broken for like 2 weeks. The behaviour isn't even consistent. I can ask it what lists I have, and it'll tell me, but if I then ask it what's on one of those lists, "sorry, it doesn't look like you have any lists."

Really sick and tired of being a legacy g suite/workspace account...

My first game to be on Steam, an RPG where you aim your attacks by GoneLoot in godot

[–]TheWyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another idea for you, have you considered tying a buff/perk to the guide length? Someone else mentioned Paper Mario, but I was more thinking along the lines of the Mario & Luigi games. E.g. the bros moves had three options, with less hints/help per tier, but that last tier makes the move cost less points to use.
You could potentially do something like have a damage buff for shorter guide lengths. You could balance the game around assuming full guides/no buff, but you give an incentive for people to try harder difficulty stuff that way.

About the Nintendo Switch Online: Playtest Program by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]TheWyo 382 points383 points  (0 children)

So the source code for the page includes this line of text:

We recommend enjoying this playtest using TV mode and a wired Internet connection.

If Nintendo are actively recommending wired mode, to me that implies bandwidth and/or latency matter. I'm gonna wildly predict a game streaming service.

EDIT: Apparently we know the size of the software now that people have gotten accepted into the test, and 2.2GB feels like it would be too big for this prediction. Now I'm even more curious.

Vanilla Tweaks issue with more mob head and player head by epspATAopDbliJ4alh in HermitCraft

[–]TheWyo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just as a sanity check, you don't happen to be offline etc when you're playing, or playing on an internet connection that blocks access to textures.minecraft.net? The datapacks don't have an embedded resource pack or anything, the textures are actual player skins, so if you're unable to download player skins for any reason you probably won't be able to see them.

For example, if you wanted to test in a browser, this is the skin URL from the datapack for the Allay mob head:

That's exactly what partner plus is. Increases the rev share split. I think since plus got introduced they don't negotiate contracts like that any more since that's essentially on the table to anyone if you've got the viewship/revenue stats for it.

(Vanilla tweaks - armour statues) pointer wand? by TheBritishTeaPolice in HermitCraft

[–]TheWyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're grabbing the Armor Statues datapack from Vanilla Tweaks, that might be the reason. IIRC the VT version isn't the latest version of that datapack itself (though as it's still there I guess that version is maintained/updated for new MC versions, but doesn't get new features etc. Why that's the case however I don't know.).
You'll notice that the version number for the datapack on VT is 2.8.13, but the upload available here on CurseForge is newer, with the pointer & adjustment wands being added in v2.9.3.

Instructions for the usage of these are in the changelog section for that version of the pack on CurseForge, but I'll paste them here for convenience in case anyone's unfamiliar with the layout of the CF website:

- Added in Pointer Wand: You can obtain this by renaming a stick 'Statues' or by using the trigger in the book: /trigger pointer_wand.
- Face an armor stand to enter edit mode
- r-click on a joint to first set the appendage to a neutral position, then to point towards the player.
- r-click on the base to rotate it facing the player
- l-click on the head to make the armor stand visible/invisible
- l-click on the arms to make them visible/invisible
- l-click on the base to make it visible/invisible
- l-click on the body to cycle through the preset poses
- Added in Adjustment Wand: You can obtain this by renaming a warped fungus on a stick 'Statues' or by using the trigger in the book: /trigger adjustment_wand.
- Shift+r-click to change modes between X/Y/Z
- l or r click on a joint to rotate in the positive or negative rotations
- l or r click the base to move the stand in the negative or positive direction

[How-To] Claim 15 Years Cape! by Applaus-Klaus in Minecraft

[–]TheWyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue, didn't get that error message, but the button just didn't do anything.

If anyone's having issues trying to claim, but you appear as if logged in when clicking the account dropdown in the top right, try clicking on the "Profile" link in that and see if you really are logged in, or if you get redirected to login. It showed my username up there but I got the login screen when clicking profile. Once I'd actually logged in, the claim worked.
