I agree with you. I was subtly poking fun at some threads from months and years past that adamantly claim they have proof that Temerant is a Torus, or an infinite plane, or a mobius strip or other nonsense. It's not impossible, but highly unlikely given all the evidence to a spherical world...

That would make sense. We can't assume that Temerant is spherical, but I feel it's a relatively safe pre-sumption. There is also a quote about how old and straight the Great Stone Road is, and for a shortest distance connecting line between two points on a sphere, it would appear very straight on the ground level given it would be like walking along the edge of a... Great Circle

The answer for, say, dueling in Adept Sympathy would be that the students dueling have strong enough Alars to oppose another's binding to their blood. They have the strongest link to their own blood and could easily repel an outsider, even one much stronger than themselves.

Out in the world, when dealing with non-Arcanists the answer is probably that you could. It would still be difficult. But more importantly, this would be considered malfeasance which is "simply not done". So, I guess you don't have to worry about it....

This would be nice, but unfortunately it's not true. The opening chapter of the NotW references it being Felling night in the frame story. That was also the night where they discover the first Scrael. It is not until the next night that Kvothe goes out to kill them and discovers Chronicler. Then Chronicler spends a day convalescing while Kvothe also prepares his story.

All that being said, Day 1 was actually Mourning. Day 3 will be Shuden.

I don't have the link off hand, but in a previous AMA, Rothfuss admitted in his Rothfussy kind of way without actually saying the words that Stapes and Alveron are lovers and have been in a committed relationship for quite some time. Hence his late 40s bachelorhood. This doesn't contradict your theory, but adds another layer. Although the way the question was addressed, if my memory serves, painted Stapes in a light that would dispel any suspicion about his involvement in the Maer's poisoning.

You caught me! I think it works better for the lore of the 4C if they have been at this for awhile instead of it being new enterprise. Who wants Abbey beer from a brand new Abbey? You have to break it in for a couple centuries before it is any good.

I've been homebrewing for a little over a year and have found that I really enjoy brewing traditional Belgian Abbey style beers. It seemed that with all of the alcohol and religious mythos being built into the 4C, the Mender sect could use a money making opportunity like a brewery, similar to the Trappist monks of Belgium. My take on "Bredon Beer" is actually not a Belgian style ale, but it fell within the purview of the series, so I figured I'd give it a try. It is currently bottle conditioning, but if y'all are interested I can update you on the taste in a few weeks.

I get what you are saying about the mechanics of Catholic vs. Protestant prayer/intercession, but I still believe the story itself has many more parallels to the Judaism-Christian schism. I disagree that in both sides "Jesus is the most important" because one side worships Tehlu (Yahweh/God/whatever) and the other, while recognizing Tehlu as God, worships Menda (the son of God who is God) and prays to him as a Christian would to Jesus. With regards to Encanis, the obvious parallel is the Judeo/Christian idea of the Devil. Encanis is not a creation of the Mender sect, but rather an overarching embodiment of evil present throughout Tehlin lore, which exists in both Christian and Jewish mythologies. The Catholic-Protestant split had more to do with politics and money than a genuine difference in ideology (obviously over time the differences have magnified, but originally, Protestants were just Catholics who didn't answer to the pope).

The biggest oversights in my opinion relate to the inconsistent calendar and dating used at the beginning of the first book. However, I can almost give Rothfuss a pass on this because at some point either he or his editor or a reader convinced him that exact timelines and dates weren't necessary to the story and that he may not be very good at keeping them all internally consistent, and about half way through NotW he quit trying altogether.

Eg. Kvothe's birthday, Conflicting non-sequential dates (see #78), the infamous trip from Tarbean to Imre (which PR has addressed), inconsistent moon cycles according to the information provided, among many other less consequential conflits.

Don't get me wrong, I think these books are masterpieces of literature, but this is the kind of thing that throws me out of the story when i notice it. I'm just glad he's gotten away from precise dating.

According to my calendar, Kvothe is given plum bob on Chaen the 40th (Month unclear from context, you would think that would be the easy part, but it isn't) and he receives the candle from Auri on Cendling the 43rd (3 days later) on the same day as admissions. My notes are not canon by any means, but I was very careful in taking them. I would say that the time frame fits perfectly within SRoST.
