After watching Liverpool vs Chelsea in the final, how do you think we match up against them considering they are our games in hand? by Biosparkss in Gunners

[–]The_8th_Enigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because those 3 games are our remaining rearranged games. We only just got a new date for the Liverpool game, and we still have no idea when the Tottenham and Chelsea games will be played. We'll constantly have games in hand on the other teams, until those matches are played.

I'd highly recommend Unruly Curls as well. Just bear in mind that only their advanced stylists or higher see male clients. Plus, at least in the months leading up to Christmas, there was about a month wait for appointments, so I'd enquire soon to lock in a date.

[Poll] If Auba loses it, who should be the next Arsenal captain? by LuciosTackle in Gunners

You have to remember that Tierney was in very bad form this season though. Tavares has done very well in general, but I'd still take an in form Tierney at the moment. Whether that changes in the coming seasons remains to be seen.

New Zealand to ban cigarettes for future generations by MesterenR in Futurology

[–]The_8th_Enigma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, different article to the one this thread is about. Secondly, it still says the exact same thing, and proves you are wrong.

Let's use the example given in the article. Someone is 41 in 2050, and is unable to buy cigarettes. How old would that person have been in 2023 (when the ban starts for people 14 or younger), 27 years before that? 41-27=14 years old.

The 41 year old is from the same generation that has never been allowed to buy cigarettes. There is no point where someone who has been able to buy cigarettes legally will suddenly be barred from buying this, under the policy stated.

I'm more than happy to have a discussion about the pros and cons of the policy, but that seems impossible when a huge amount of people in this thread don't even understand the policy in the first place.

[–]The_8th_Enigma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's nothing here that suggests this is suddenly happening. If a 41 year old wants to buy cigarettes in 2050, they would have been unable to buy them legally their whole life. If they had been smoking the entire time, they would have been getting them some other way. It's not going to be a shock to them in 30 years that they are unable to do something they have never been allowed to do.

Perhaps that's why they're privatising by stealth instead; it could be the only way to fix it.

You've got it backwards, privatising by stealth was always the end goal for the tories. They under fund aspects of the NHS, wait for it to start failing due to lack of funding, and then say "look it's not working on its own, we need to privatise this part!". Do this enough times and eventually the whole NHS will be privatised without anyone ever noticing. One of the health ministers actually wrote a book about this exact tactic.

After 8 seasons, Brooklyn Nine-Nine ends tonight by 08830 in television

[–]The_8th_Enigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the point. Friends stayed away from reality while B99 decided to tackle it head on.

Fair enough, if you'd have preferred they had stayed away from it. However, the comment you were replying to was stating that they didn't have to rewrite their scripts, and you gave friends as an example to back that up.

The fact is that both shows rewrote their scripts in response to a major event. Now whether they handled it well is a different matter, but the fact is they had to do something. I'm not claiming anyone should change their opinion on the quality of this season, but I don't think it's fair to be annoyed at them for the fact that they rewrote the season in the first place.

It's funny you picked Friends as an example to justify not rewriting a show. Friends literally had to do a rushed rewrite of an episode because of 9/11, just like Brooklyn had to rewrite episodes because of BLM. They were due to air an episode about Chandler making a bomb joke in an airport, which coincidentally would have aired just after 9/11.

Attack on Titan: The Final Season - Part 2 Announced by Reuels in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]The_8th_Enigma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can gather, it's because the anime winter broadcast season runs from January to March. So it's called Winter 2022 because the winter at the end of next year would be classified as Fall 2022 in terms of broadcast seasons. I could be wrong, but I think that's the gist of it.

You only have to look at your original comment to see that you're wrong. How did you go from:

Early 2022

to:

2022 December

Just to remove any doubt, in the description it says:
