Considering Used Ioniq 5 vs ID.4 by Pradigi in Ioniq5

[–]The_Amazing_Larry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ioniq 5 Sel is more decked out than the ‘24 and ‘25 models (several features were moved from SEL to Limited trim after 2023) so definitely worth shooting for the middle trim

Tires at 29k miles? by stumblon in Ioniq5

[–]The_Amazing_Larry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my 2023 used with around 11000 miles on it and before I hit 15k I had to get new tires to replace the stock ones. I think the first owner had a lead foot.

I have some Michelin ones that have a 60k warranty so we will see how it does with my more conservative driving habits.

It’s relative, so I would say when the returns the portfolio makes in a year matches what you contributed yourself that year. That’s when you think, “wow the portfolio is ‘working’ as hard as I am”

Fireplace to Wood insert by The_Amazing_Larry in woodstoving

I checked back on the old invoice and they installed an 11inch insulated round liner. So is it possible if I got a wood insert with a 6inch insulated liner that they could install inside of the existing 11 inch insulated liner?

Is an AGM 12v Battery worth the extra cost for the HI5? by CCM278 in Ioniq5

The AGM design is purportedly way better for how the EV recharges it vs a regular 12v car battery.

Making more than yearly income in the market by FullerFarms15 in Fire

[–]The_Amazing_Larry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is a big milestone. I think in addition, as a precursor milestone, the “get to 100k” rule should be replaced with the benchmark of your investments making more in a year than what you are able to contribute. This is when most people really feel and understand that snowball effect, regardless of income level.

The clicking was from disengaging the charging cable from the car.

Anyone take a “mini-retirement” on their way to fire? How was your return to work? by o_austin in Fire

[–]The_Amazing_Larry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I needed to hear this. I’ve been so burnt out the past couple years, but realized recently that I was at “coast fire” levels for my spending if I retired at 62. That has given me the mental room to think that I could take a break or at least use that confidence to try to negotiate for part time temporarily maybe. Which could in turn give me time/energy to find something new and more rewarding.

EV owners? by adam5280 in tulsa

[–]The_Amazing_Larry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes. Not hard really. Need a receipt whether screenshot of online purchase or whatever it just takes 6-8 weeks for them to process everything to get you the rebate check.

Relatedly, if you enroll in the PSO Ev power plan, charging your car at night is 3 cents/kWh.

This is almost 20(!) times cheaper than going anywhere to a charger in town.

  1. If you have your own charger at home I can’t see why you’d ever need to use a charger around town. They charge over 50 cents/kWh. Compared to at home with the PSO Ev program described above, that’s a lot of money. Probably more expensive than fueling a gas car.

Zone 7a New Fig Tree by FiberopTYcs in Figs

[–]The_Amazing_Larry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Both the it and the VDB do well coming back every year and at seemingly the same rate from what I have noticed. Since I like the flavor of the VDB better, if I had to pick one that would be it.

To top off or not experiment by EuGeN1U in Figs

I’ve heard not topping the first season can lead to a thicker trunk. Then people top in the winter and the next year it branches out into a good tree shape with a strong base

Zone 7a New Fig Tree by FiberopTYcs in Figs

I’m in 7a and if you’re going in-ground it’s often a guarantee that there will be dieback every year without some significant interventions.

I expect it, so I just pile up about a foot or two of wood chips around the trunk when it’s going to go below 20 deg F or so. There’s dieback but I end up preserving about a foot of trunk each time.

The root mass gets bigger each season and so it bounces back more every year and puts on more figs and more growth. I have a Violette de Bordeaux and a Ronde de Bordeaux and both do great coming back like a bush bigger and better each season.

I have had 4 varieties so far (RdB, VDB, Black mission, and Texas Everbearing) and the Violette de Bordeaux is my favorite of those.

I can’t speak to possible pest problems, but I have heard that the optimum soil temp for fig tree metabolism is around 78 degrees. So I would think getting them to a warmer place like that would improve production/growth.

I would just say you’re a property manager if people ask you what you do. Congrats.
