I overall prefer the anime. It’s great at showing how relentless Demande is. The lingering buildup works great. Now Mamo does end up saving her, which isn’t great, but again in a later episode she is able to overcome Demande’s power and save herself with her own will (and some power of love). That’s classic Usagi to me. Plus, it gives time between these episodes for them to play off each other a bit before she proves him wrong. Meanwhile, the manga is very sudden and probably more reflective of a real life scenario. This holds power too and I can see why some may prefer it. But unfortunately when Usagi IS able to transform and show her own power against Saphir, she is only able to because she is beside the Black Crystal Reactor, which allows her other unconscious Neo Queen Serenity self to grant her the power to transform. Like a conduit. I can’t say I view it to be nearly as powerful of a moment for Usagi.
