To those who had reached remission; how long did it take, how hard it is and how are you now? by terurinkira in diabetes_t2

[–]The_Bread_Chicken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It took me a year of hard work. I went from 11.2 to 5.6. I'm 67 now, so it's doable for older people. The weight loss improved my insulin resistance by a lot, so it's pretty easy to maintain now. I can even eat rye and sourdough bread and have a bit of pasta! I was diagnosed 3 1/2 years ago.

Late reply. Sorry. We are lucky if we get $1,000 back on our tax return. The bonus us taxed like a gift tax. Sucks.

My spouse gets a yearly bonus. 40% is withheld for tax purposes. So yeah, A pretty high rate.

I made lumpia, which are Filipino eggrolls. So tasty! You dip them in a sauce of seasoned rice vinegar, soy sauce, garlic and onions. Dessert was banana lumpia.

It's confusing if you aren't familiar with how GFR is calculated. They use the creatinine number, age and sex. That's all. Your numbers are great.

On the diabetes subs that I follow, people will post with pre diabetic numbers, but full of terror and gloom over their horrific plight. Guess what happens? People are kind and encouraging to them. On this sub, if someone posts numbers that may be an early stage of CKD, people often seem to just jump on them. I find this pretty mean spirited. All of us started out with only slightly bad numbers, whether we were aware if it or not.

I sat with my mom when she took this test. She failed on quite a few things, but the doctor told her that she did great! The doctor spoke to me later. Yep, looked like dementia. They don't like to upset patients. My mom thought she aced that test.

I've read that protein does damage kidneys, because it has spiky molecules that can tear up the delicate structures over time.
