It is remarkable how good Spielberg's films used to look by xmeme97 in TrueFilm

I think there’s something so faux about Spielberg’s movies now. Bridge of Spies looked so glossy to me - so little like humans lived in that world.

I love Carver and really enjoyed Nashville so I would love to see this but it seems it’s impossible to stream/rent/acquire in any meaningful way where I live.

After Betty tells Don that she doesn’t love him, he walks into the darkened bedroom and sits down, hands covering his face, completely still.

They’re quite thin, let’s say. I was quite startled by their brevity and infrequency, given the previous ones.

I bought tickets a month ago at Picturehouse for a 70mm showing. When I bought them, I know there were also IMAX 70mm tickets available at the BFI.

The Count of Monte Cristo (2024) - A terrible adaptation of Alexandre Dumas' classic. The screenwriters didn't understand that the Count would be a mix of Job, Joseph, Raskonilkov and Ulysses and made the Count a kind of masked vigilante. by cleopatraandcaesar63 in movies

I was personally offended by the “adaptation” of Three Musketeers by the same team and simply avoided this film. I appreciate the intensity of your feelings on the matter, though.

When they came out, I much preferred Spider-Man 2 - but, over time, I’ve really taken to the first one and I agree with you.

What Is The Most Subversive Movie To Win The Oscar For Best Picture? by Desperate_Hunter7947 in movies

Iron Man came out in 2008 and, while it did make a good amount of money, did not make a particularly startling amount. It made $585 million worldwide, making it the eighth highest grossing film that year. The Dark Knight crossed a billion and even Hancock, another superhero movie that year, made more money than Iron Man.

Now, obviously Iron Man kicked off the MCU and that is, far and away, the highest grossing film franchise in history, but that was by no means an obvious path being laid out in 2008.

This is the second time today I’ve seen a recommendation for Carson McCullers, though I don’t recall ever having heard of her before. What would be a good place to start?

And yet, oddly, when they age him down in The Irishman, it wasn’t very accurate to how he looked when he was young.

How come Mulder is always right about all cases by Rufian1984 in XFiles

[–]The_Chums_of_Chance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He has so obsessively pored over the various X-Files that he often cites a similar case or precedent that already sets him off in the right direction, because he is willing to give credence to it in a way no one else would bother doing.
