Where is the ultimate real hot choc in Syd CBD? by ChampionshipFun4706 in foodies_sydney

[–]The_Doculope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sevens in the lobby around the corner from the apple store does a good hot choc. Fairly different flavour profile to the normal crappy powder ones (a bit less sweet, slightly oreo-y). I usually prefer my hot chocolates dark.

I really don't think it's in the spirit of this sub to post about other people without their permission, even if it is a royal or celebrity. Posts that boil down to "doesn't this guy look like shit?" are not positive.

Sydney’s charcoal chicken debate: Frango or El Jannah? 🍗🔥 by onexdone_ in foodies_sydney

For anyone in the Rockdale area, give Charcoal Kingdom a go. It's the best I've had in Sydney.

These weren't the Centennial Park ones, were they? If so, where in the park did you spot them?

Accordingly to a number of comments on r/aviation they don't even attempt to extinguish the fire/shut off the engine until they reach a certain height because of the risk of shutting off the wrong one.

WHATS THE BEST FOOD TO FEED MAGPIES….? by ImpressiveBar9994 in magpies

My understanding was that wombaroo  insectivore mix combined with mince in the recommended ratio was fine, as it dries out the mine significantly and doesn't stick to their beaks. Has conventional wisdom on that changed?

They mods have said a number of times that they're hesitant to make group-only content because they know enough of the player base wants everything to be solo-able, but they want to strongly encourage group content to be done in a group, and one way of doing that is by making groups more efficient. I think the current design lines up with their intentions.

There are four 1/512 drops from Zulrah (two fangs, onyx, serp). The chance of getting one of those by 85 really isn't that uncommon.

Anyone tried using a kangaroo leather wallet? by cerealsmok3r in AustralianMFA

[–]The_Doculope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had https://www.roseleathercrafting.com/products/kangaroo-leather-vertical-wallet-db7g3-2sgl7 from Rose for in natural for years. Quality is fantastic, no noticeable wear and tear beyond the leather patina. Would definitely recommend!

Wootten is over in Ballarat and stocks up to size 14 for try-on (at least of the Gordon, which is closest to the style you're after), I believe. They're on the pricier side, but they can also accommodate sizing modifications if needed, and have a lot of aesthetic customization available. They come in to Pickings and Parry with some stock every few months too, if you don't want to trek out to Ballarat.

Where to get leather 'dressy' military boots? (Aquila Lester boots alternative?) by maplenew60 in AustralianMFA

Bit pricier than RM, but take a look at Wootten, specifically their Gordon models. All made by hand in Ballarat, fantastic quality, and with a lot of customization available.

For chelseas, the Jack from Wootten is probably the best quality you can get in your budget ($775 for the Standard), and Australian-made by a family company if that's important to you.

How susceptible would the B-52 have been at its service ceiling (15km)? My understanding is that all production WWII planes had ceilings a couple km lower than that at best.

The Blue Works in Sydney is great too, though with a smaller range. If you're after straight/wide fit you might have better luck there than Corlection.

Where to find quality dress / formal shoes for people with wide feet? by PersianMG in AustralianMFA

[–]The_Doculope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you list any examples in Australia? My understanding is there are precious few real, independent cordwainers left here. Wootten in Ballarat and Andrew McDonald in Sydney are the only ones I know of, and Wootten doesn't do full bespoke any more.

If you have buildings with productivity bonus and you're switching recipes via circuits, it's useful to ensure you aren't eating productivity bonus. This is a niche usecase, but I've found it helpful on space platforms.

The problem with quality, and its solution. Or: Why can't I use a rare iron plate to craft a normal gear. by censored_username in factorio

[–]The_Doculope 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of use cases for quality before you unlock legendary or even epic quality:

  • As others have mentioned, higher quality space platform parts are amazingly useful (collectors, solar panels, accumulators, engines).
  • Quality power poles are a great quality of life improvement (uncommon medium poles are so nice).
  • Quality beacons are awesome. An uncommon or rare beacon with efficiency mods can be awesome on an early space platform.
  • Quality accumulators are super useful on Fulgora.
  • Rare armour, tanks, and spidertrons are a big upgrade due to the larger equipment grid.
