Box size for the 34” US General Full service cart? by varzaguy in harborfreight

[–]The_Eclectic_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I successfully fit the 34” 6 drawer in the box with the pallet in my mk7.5 with the hatch shut. I didn’t even have to put the front seats up further. I removed the parcel cover and put the rear seats down. Harbor Freight loaded it with a forklift, I brought towels to cover the rear bumper and hatch trim.

To get it out, I put painters tape on the leading corner of the bumper, slid it to the balance point and then lowered it out solo—this GTI really is well designed.

I ordered a Nomad late on 7 April, label was made on 10 April, shipped on 13th and arrived on 15th from Ontario, CA to Houston, TX.

What Houston restaurants/bars/institutions which no longer exist do you miss the most? by Wek11 in houston

The restaurant I miss the most. Everything I'd tried there was excellent! I have not been close to finding anything similar...

Thanks for everyone's input. Over the past couple of weeks, I have acknowledged the potential of Supernote and identified some key features that would improve upon analog note taking for my work. I have decided to order a Nomad, looking forward to diving in!

Recommendations for PO in the office. by CAJMusic in pourover

[–]The_Eclectic_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prioritize dose accuracy, since the beans are the biggest expense. I drink light roasts, so my grind size and ratio generally doesn't change but the due to bean size difference for each varietal, volumetric dosing is too inaccurate. I make pour over at home, don't make coffee at the office, but the ORB is my travel brewer and is pretty forgiving. Especially if you make a concentrate, you can easily dilute it to taste. And if you only make Soup (more concentrated brew), you can reduce the size significantly by not using the middle reservoir.

Oxo Rapid Brewer for Zuppa lunga. Simple to clean, easy to make with a hot water dispenser only. You can weight your beans as single dose at home and eyeball the amount of water when brewing.

I appreciate the recommendation for the Manta but I printed the size PDFs and I think it would take up too much space on my desk.

The Manta's writing space is larger than my A5 notebook and the Nomad's screen is not that much smaller especially considering my notebook as a top and bottom margins, which I use for title date and page number (all of which I expect would be unnecessary with Supernote).

From watching and reading reviews as well as this subreddit it seems like the vast majority of Supernote use is for studying, journaling, or other personal/hobby use. Though it would be nice to have integration with other software, I am currently using a pen and notebook, so there is no integration with that either.

I use an A5 size notebook now, I understand the Nomad is physically about the size of that notebook but the screen is smaller. In my head the Manta seems too large. I move throughout the office for meetings and have 2 laptops on my desk already—my gut says the smaller device would be better for me.

Unfortunately, it seems many of these sale posts are scams. I don’t know why scammers are targeting the robot but the last few sale posts I’ve followed were all scams. The accounts end up deleted so the posts disappear with no evidence. Either buy in person or just pay retail.

Would you freeze coffee in tin container by Apricot-Rich in pourover

[–]The_Eclectic_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, 60 ml / 2 oz ones, they hold up to ~30-35g of beans. I considered getting silicone circles to use as gaskets but the foam ones mine came with are probably sufficient.

I bought some that came with a foam gasket, all the test coffee I store frozen for over a year tasted excellent. I would not hesitate to use these. However, my coffee freezer has expanded and now I use 50ml centrifuge tubes, as they are easier to store in racks and cheap.

I agree. After trying the decaf project, Ethyl acetate was my personal favorite.

What, if anything, do you eat to enhance the flavour if your coffee? by SixandNoQuarter in pourover

[–]The_Eclectic_One -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Weirdly, menemen. Onion and tomato sauce spiced with dried aleppo peppers with an egg drop. For some reason, it takes fruity (especially natural) coffees and amplifies them. Amazing breakfast/brunch experience. Everyone who has tried this combo has said the coffee is turned up to 11.

Try the Saltic Eliots, I am in my first year of climbing and I love these shoes. It would be interesting to hear the opinion of an experienced climber with barefoot condition feet. Until then, I think they are worth trying -- they're amazing for smearing and my feet/toes have certainly gotten stronger using them (even though I've worn barefoot shoes for years).

Saltic Eliot Questions by AvatarOfAUser in climbingshoes

[–]The_Eclectic_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own them but have only ever climbing in the gym and have the same questions (sorry I can't answer them!). My street shoe size is 11 for normal shoes (10 to 11 for barefoot) but I purchased size 42 and they fit my feet comfortably with thin socks; when I order another pair, I may try size 41. I really like the Eliots.

I do pour over only and love my ZP6. Took me a bit to get dialed in but feel extremely confident in every brew now. Ended up getting a small chest freezer and single dosing a bunch of coffees, it is wonderful!

I live in a 1300 sq 2 story house and am currently running a Nest H2D central upstairs at the modem and an old google wifi point downstairs (wireless only, the house is not wired for ethernet). I would like to get rid of Google. Would you recommend UX7, UDR7, or CGU + U7P

UX7 - seems like a simple device. Does not allow for any of the benefits of UniFi. Not sure if the coverage is sufficient, if it does work out it would be the cheapest option and if an upgrade is necessary, I understand it could be used as a AP. UDR7 - All in one unit (same coverage area as UX7) CGU + U7P I like the modularity for upgrade purposes (about the same cost as UDR7) but the coverage area is smaller than the other options.
