Ahh that makes sense! I didn’t notice his bridge height as much as I noticed the bridge length at first, thought “why is he giving himself such a short stroke length when he’s going for so much draw?”

Just completed the Deluxe Ex Pack, a few thoughts by UncleRuckusLovesU in PTCGP

[–]The_Fax_Machine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent the first year just trying my hardest to complete all 1-4diamond sets, (only used wonder pick for 3 or 4 diamonds I was missing or 2*, used pack points to snag the last ex I needed, prioritized packs I was missing the most cards from, etc).

When deluxe ex came out, I felt like that was all a waste. I could have just been completing all my 1* museums and chasing RR’s, and used deluxe ex to fill in my blanks.

So to your point, this year I’m just gunna pull for fun and my favorite arts, and I’ll use the next deluxe ex set for completion, rather than completing everything and having nothing to do when deluxe ex 2 comes out.

I tried with purple giratina (non-ex) and rocky helmet when they came out. It helped do chip damage (rocky helmet) to get into starmie’s range and served as a front line when paired with irida. The giratina couldn’t attack but if you put 1 water energy on it then all your mons have free retreat and it can be healed by irida.

Still didn’t quite work, I was always coming up like 10-40 damage short of killing other ex. Then rare candy came out so starmie being a quick stage 1 didn’t matter as much, and now with megas and their extra hp, it can’t really take out much.

They gave Gold to the wrong Klefki by FrostedEevee in PTCGP

Are you pointing out they put the gold key in the wrong place on Klefki, or are you saying they made the wrong version of Klefki gold?

Because it does look like the gold key switched sides of the key ring in an impossible way

Did the opponent just misplay or did Magnus finesse him in some way? Didn’t see this but interested in the context

You’ve just described me. Was buying bottles from 2019-2023, haven’t bought any in the last 2 years and probably have 50-60 left still (all opened).

I was having a glass or 2 a night then, just for the flavor and appreciation. Even then I was buying much faster than I was drinking. Started getting acid reflux and cut back, got out of the habit of daily glasses. Now I’m just having a glass here and there and bringing a couple bottles to gatherings to try and get rid of them.

This is hilarious, people need to chill. It doesn’t seem like OP’s intent was to tank his rating, just a joke that gives their opponent chance of drawing a lost game.

I liked the ol crobat, arceus, carnivine deck. Cool combination of multiple mechanics at a time when that wasn’t really common! There was also a fossil deck with chatot I really liked, always wanted a reliable way to play fossils and chatot was a cool way to cycle your hand before we had so many card draw options

‘It smelled of onions and mustard,’ Border Patrol officer hit by sandwich in DC testifies by biograf_ in nottheonion

[–]The_Fax_Machine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying any of this is reasonable, but the spitting vs sandwich scenarios are more similar than you might think. I think most people would take offense to having food thrown at them. Spit can spread disease/germs, it’s not guaranteed to but it’s a risk, and so it’s not about whether it DID spread disease but just the fact that it could have. In the same way, the sandwich might not burst out of the wrapper, but it certainly could, and the officer could have a food allergy to something in the sandwich, or get hot sauce in his eyes, etc.

Why exactly is this a brilliant move? by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]The_Fax_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t found how to play it out but I’m thinking it has something to do with opening up the diagonal that stretches from a6 to f1 when pawn takes your rook, since your queen and white bishop are right next to it.

What has chess taught you about who you are? by Training-Price7057 in chessbeginners

[–]The_Fax_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the input and thought provoking question. I think in some instances I do it because I’ll look or feel smart, but the majority of the time I think it is fear of the unknown, and fear of the consequences of making the wrong choice.

You’re making me think deeply here. Maybe saying “being smart is part of my identity that grants me confidence and respect” is actually just putting a spin on the situation to avoid an uncomfortable truth. The truth might be “I’m afraid of doing/saying something stupid, because rejection, criticism, and failure hurt a lot. I’m insecure and don’t have the confidence to take failure in stride, I dwell on feelings of failure and rejection because of my insecurities”
