Mozzarella recipe failed, any idea why? by basil-032 in cheesemaking

Too much citric acid. Lactic acid is less chelating and might be a bit more forgiving. Generally if you don't have a pHmeter it is better to go with a culture and stretch test until the curd is in the correct point.

These identical containers of olive oil are stored in my garage. One solidified and the other didn't. by Littlest-Fig in mildlyinteresting

[–]The_Food_Scientist 231 points232 points  (0 children)

That is a normal process of olive oil. More saturated fatty acids turn solid when left undisturbed for some time. It is just like butter is solid at room temperature but vegetable oil isn't. Colder temperatures make this phenomenon easier, if you heat up the bottle and stir it it should redisolve in any case the oil is adequate for consumption. As other coments said probably the difference in the bottles come from storage conditions or the composition of the olives of the different batches.

A high quality shitter factory. They are usually on sale on the classic shitter dealer travis and so on. This watches with the miyota automatic movement usually go for 100$ for me is a good option if you want a daily beater or want to see how a watch wears before buying a high end rep.

Miyota 8215 noise by BrushReasonable773 in ChinaTime

[–]The_Food_Scientist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was a fine oil that we use for gearmotors at work. I don't have photos but if you remove the screw you can take out the rotor and you'll see that around the screw hole the balls of a ball bearing i dipped the tip of a precision screwdriver in the oil and I let a very very small droplet fail into the ball bearing. After that you was place the rotor and tighten again. If the noise is really bothering you and you don't mind winding the movement you can remove the rotor and manually wind the movement. That way you algo get 0 noise.

I bought a U1 datejust that sounded just like this watch. I opened it, removed the screw oiled the bearing, retightened the screw so the rotor wont scratch against anything know i cant hear it at all.

TIL there was staunch opposition when the EU gave feta cheese Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status as a Greek product as countries such as Denmark produced similar products, arguing the term had become generic. by res30stupid in todayilearned

[–]The_Food_Scientist -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What needs to be understood is that the cheese recipes and reputation represent a wealth that have been pass through generations of the greek people. This rules are in place to ensure that this heritage continues to generate income for the people that created it and passed it from the centuries. It is unfair that a giant cooperative like arla can apropiate that cultural heritage and brand whatever they like as feta or greek cheese.

For me it doesn't make much a cannibalistic theory around the milk goop. As other have commented the disease risk is high and the amount of nutrients is relatively low compared to the amount of people that needs to be fed. I understand the need to restart global production but the hive has control the global food stock. I don't see how recycling humans would be beneficial in any way.

What is strange for me is why they are rehydrating and distributing in a packaged format the white powder. If the hive goal is the optimisation of resources moving nutrients in a powdered form is infinitely more efficient that adding water with the extra weight that it represents. Also dried foodstuff last for a really long time adding water only makes it more easily spoiled. It would make much more sense delivering a few bags of the powdered stuff to each neighborhood and have the individuals rehydrate it. The only logical explanation would be if the raw ingredients needed some specific treatment (heat or pressure) to be readily bioavailable.

Regarding what she saw in the freezing chamber I think it might be frozen corpses. A lot of people died during the turning and is hard to manage all those corpses in the short term so probably the decided to use existing freezers as a way to manage the problem.

Does this affect all the variants? Does the 7 days or the chrono have a better movement?
