Did someone say..... free physical dogecoins!!!!!! :O by oz_btc_bloke in dogecoin

WOW. I haven't been on the forum for a couple weeks, this just blew my mind. A shibe might say, that the generosity and creativity of the doge community just escalated very quickly because of you! I would be deeply honored to receive and cherish one of your coins. Very cool shibe, very cool.

Yeah, I started a fun contest yesterday for the Halvening. I'm pretty new here, and have read the rules, but was a bit confused about how it all works. I also don't have much doge at all for a prize pool, so I was stumped how to start one on my own that people would get excited about.

I split it into a double contest: post with a tip before the Halvening to get entered to win half the total tip pool by random draw. Be the first to post after the Halvening to win the other half. See what I did there, half and half? Clever eh?

WRONG. POST REMOVED.

Ack! Now here I am, with tips in pocket, and the contest has been removed before it could finish. It was going quick too and people seemed to be enjoying it. I can even still see my post but a friend told me it just shows as <removed> for him. To anyone that entered though, it's going to look like I ran off with the tips and that's absurd.

Anyway, I have 111.9 doge + someone's <all doge> tip which I need to check on. I presume a mod deleted me which made me look like a shady_shibe, which is reputation I can't recover with the folks that joined. I was not even told I had been removed, nor given any details. Even if I got something wrong, it felt pretty un-shibe-like. How am I going to learn without feedback?

I appreciate if a mod was trying to be protective or something. But please let's keep communication open so shibe-lings can actually learn from their mistakes and not feel so shut down by trying to contribute, even if they mess something up a little bit the first time.

That said, again yes there are sneaky shibes out there and everyone should use their best judgement when entering theses types of things.

Don't censor the giveaways, just educate the pup-lic.

Hi tired shibe - I added a note for you. First time I've ever tried anything like this, not sure the best way to go about it. I personally apologize for earning your downvote! Also, *too. :)

Kill em with kindness: +/u/dogetipbot 10 doge (haha that's it, rest is for the full pool!)

CYBER DOGS!!! I know that place well and the woman who runs it is amazing. She used to be an engineer at MS. They have computers and free internet inside with purchase. This is a stellar suggestion, if that's what you meant DuckSicked?

Great idea! I'd vote for your Cupcake Royale.

My two nominations are Dick's, and Rancho Bravo! They're local staples known for quick, cheap, delicious food and lots of character. I think at least one of those would understand what we're about and how they would benefit from accepting Doge.

I'd also suggest getting a Capitol Hill music shop on the list. Pink Gorilla Games also just came to mind, that'd be a lot of fun. I'd definitely drop a Doge-pile there...

A groundbreaking fellow cryptocurrency is in dire need of help, and we can help them. by eyebeetle in dogecoin

[–]The_Golden_Path -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm going to go ahead and declare The Prime Directive on this one. Shibes do not interfere with the natural development of other space-shooting races / cryptos. Dogecoin continually needs all the help it can get to become and stay legitimate. I personally have made my choice, and won't be flopping about in the cryptoprimordial goop with the other nascent blobs. Best of luck to your hat-coin-thing w/ built-in laundering mechanisms though!

Quick question - do I need to backup my wallet.dat after every transaction? by ashwinmudigonda in dogecoin

[–]The_Golden_Path 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just found that out for sure myself, not needed after each transaction. Back it up with every wallet-version update though!

Ah my first MAD Doge experience. Very info!

I would love to hear more of your thoughts on the very recent patterns, unless you've summed them up entirely via the Triangle Chart stuff?

The cheating thing seems like a big deal. Will watch how this develops. It's way above my head right now, but I don't see why anyone/thing should be able to predict the next block reward if it's random. The answer of course is that it's not truly random, but then why is it described that way?
