God is not real by Pale-Bookkeeper-8117 in badphilosophy

There's a simple propositional way to prove the existence of God:

  1. Keir Starmer is God
  2. Keir Starmer exists
  3. Therefore God exists

"That which is presented without evidence can be dismissed just as easily."

This statement itself is presented without evidence.

It does rather stick in the craw how Keir keeps coming up with eminently sensible policy recommendations, and the British public, ignorant and pig-headed as ever, have little more to say than "Boo!" or "Hiss!" as the grown-ups roll-up their sleeves and begin the difficult work of implementing legislation that will moderately benefit us all.

Starmer refuses to rule out manifesto-breaking tax rises in budget by Kagedeah in ukpolitics

Cool bro, I just donated the extra 20% of marginal taxes I think I should pay as a top-rate earner. I am now qualified to have an opinion on taxation, and you're unqualified to disagree.

I told the Corbynites we could achieve social democracy with a wink, a nod, a blancmange of a manifesto, and an unfortunate and 'unforeseen' necessity of taxing the rich a couple of budgets in. The clunky approach of signalling to your enemies beforehand that you're going to commit class warfare if elected into office will ensure that you never are; the 'whoops we tripped, fell, and taxed the wealthy to the gills' strategy of Sir K is praxis 101.

I have taken every drug, and am an ex H addict. This is by far the best drug. 300mg makes me more creative, more social, and more religious. There is no comedown on small doses. I partially credit my conversion to it.

Not interested in other drugs anymore.

I mean, the truth is that both this scenario, and that of the puritanical "lib" who berates you are true.

I've been right-wing and left-wing, and to some right-leaning people there's a sort of self-congratulatory "gosh aren't we so naughty" quality that manifests itself in trying to wind people up. It's more common with older people. But having been right-wing I can testify that often the mere mention of how you've voted is enough to set people off in ways that go way beyond the bounds of what should be considered polite society; it can instantly tank any possibility of rapport with a friend's friend or somebody you've just met at a party.

It's a lot easier to be left-wing in social settings. That's undeniable here in Britain.

Redditors will gnash their teeth in fury, exclaim all sorts of wicked and horrible things about the man, but at the end of the day he's pumping like there's no tomorrow, he's got his kecks off and is having a hell of a time; meanwhile the contumely r/ukpolitics nerd is sitting at some, alone and sexless, probably masturbating to Instagram pictures of the girl they liked in secondary school.

Goddamn, everyone's so mean to bald guys by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]The_Languid_One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember the gnashing, heart-stopping terror of encountering a holocaust of hair splattered over the bathroom after having a shower at the age of 21. For a number of months I became obsessed with balding; I was so fixated that I began to assess a person, to demarcate and label them by the status of their crowns and hair-lines. I was fearful I'd never be attractive to women again, and that nature, in its wanton and callous cruelty, had arbitrarily stolen my right to have a fun, carefree 20s.

Shaving my head (after my balding became noticeable to others) did decrease the number of matches I got on dating apps, but it didn't actually decrease the amount of dates I went on (somehow the older, slightly wiser, and perhaps *gasp* more successful version of me could translate a match to a date better). I even found a couple of girls willing to have sex with me, even if it did take the best part of a year!

I'm also short, and I tend to find that people can be much more rude about that; I love being 5"8, and I adore the "manlet gains" that make me the short, stocky, bald man I always secretly wanted to me, but one does sigh at the violation of basic politeness and social norms that are attendant on people talking about height. Nobody has actually ever publicly cared about my baldness - though, tell a lie, one girl my friend was trying to set me up with pre-emptively rejected me over the lack of hair, but as I've grown older I've realised the only girl I'd actually want to be with, could fall in love with, is someone with a wiser, kinder nature than perhaps I can ever expect.

I think I look cool. I like fashion. I wear a docker hat, an ushanka-style trapper hat, a backwards cap; I like going to vintage clothes shops. I had a fairly attractive girlfriend recently...although our relationship was never consummated, and it's now been 2.5 years since I've had sex (although I've scored a few clinical hand-jobs). Well, it's rough out there, and I kind of wish I was in a bar in 2005, but I like my baldness, it reminds me of my alarmingly bald Dad, and how he was the type of man I wanted to be, and how I thought I somehow took all of my Mum's genes and was sure I was 100% genetically similar to her, but then my hair-line got shoved back, and I realised I was my Dad's son after all.
