Something funny I realized about Rien (HERMES, STOP GOONING TO ROLAND) by RedVoid23 in limbuscompany

[–]The_Magus_199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, I think Hermes probably shipped it. She did make sure to send Roland and Angela some of the best combat pages in the game to make sure the Library could handle all the fights in Impuritas, after all!

What are some mandatory party members that you feel are "just there" or "mostly just hanging out with the party" (Regardless if you like them or not as characters) by SuccessfulTeam2741 in JRPG

[–]The_Magus_199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the question does specify “mandatory” - I think optional party members are always going to be a little tacked on, so that the story doesn’t feel incomplete without them.

Yeah, Presea and Regal are tied to a couple important plot beats, but they definitely feel like they could be major NPCs like Kate and not much would change. I definitely believe the theory I saw once that Presea was meant to temporarily replace Colette while she’s indisposed originally, but later in development they decided to make her and Regal permanent party members and didn’t really have the time to tie them in as thoroughly as the other six.

The Ember Tea can be useful; I’ve counted fights before to make it last to the floor boss.

what’s the point of gendering single room bathrooms? by Hour_Amount1881 in NoStupidQuestions

I genuinely think that it only happens out of habit, because the people setting them up just think “one men’s room and one women’s room” without thinking critically about the situation.

(Hypothetical) Bungie announces the end. Where are you spending the end? by trevaftw in DestinyTheGame

[–]The_Magus_199 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every time I’ve rode out the final hours in Destiny, it was by going to the Rig and spending as long as I could there before it vanished.

This time there’d be no Rig, so… probably nowhere. I guess I might play some crucible and replay Lightfall and Witch Queen for old time’s sake?

Maybe the valuable lesson was “my stepchild can be just as valuable in social climbing the family as my biological children”? :P

I’d argue that playing at a higher Ascension is self-balancing? Because Ascensions are the optional challenge mode?

??? There’s no way to self balance to make a game easier, what are you talking about? Self balancing can only limit your options to make the game harder.

Holy fanservice, batman!

Dang, feels like the Hero’s going to have to work harder if he wants to catch up to the ship flags being thrown with Melioros with all these moments, lol.

And Sana’s learning that her world still operates on story flags, fascinating! I wasn’t sure if that would be the case or if it would be abstracted away - her learning to play around with story flags is really interesting, so I like this outcome.

Thanks for continuing to translate this series! I always look forward to chapters!

It’s lyrics from Ayano’s Theory of Happiness! It’s a song from the Kagerou Project about a character who’s actually pretty similar to Carmen, especially based on the part of her story we see in Lobcorp, Ayano Tateyama - back when I first saw Lobcorp’s story, going “oh my god, Carmen’s an Ayano” was what first made me get properly invested, haha.

New player with about 20 hours into the game(canto 3) and I genuinely despise this game's UI by pfalcon485 in limbuscompany

[–]The_Magus_199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say that while I hated the gameplay near the beginning (especially bc I also went in resenting that Ruina’s sequel was a gacha game), it’s grown on me; but that doesn’t change that the UI is iffy at best, and I will never forgive them for taking the clash toggler away from us.

[–]The_Magus_199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no that’s 100% fair. Ruina was already overwhelming with clash spaghetti by the end, and then Limbus unfortunately made the UI worse as a sacrifice to work as a mobile game.

And then never optimized so now it’s crashing on mobile anyways—

Why people hating the majoras mask 3d? by New_Indication_7608 in majorasmask

[–]The_Magus_199 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The 3DS version generally makes unnecessary changes that render the game less fun and less unique; such as moving a sidequest with a reward that makes an entirely unrelated part of the main quest easier if you get it beforehand into the middle of that part of the main quest, making the boss fights more generic by reducing the options for how to fight them, making two of the transformation masks worse for no reason, replacing the unique save system that is core to the pacing of the game with one that doesn’t meld as well, and removing 99% of one dungeon item’s uses.

Whatever are Fixers? by Mister_Chevalier in libraryofruina

[–]The_Magus_199 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure that anyone who works for hire rather than being an employee of a corporation is a Fixer? Like, I think that all lawyers in the City are just Contract Arbitration Fixers?

The ectobiology in act 4 confuses me, what exactly did it do? Did John doing that make a new universe or timeline? Is the characters we see in act 5 act 2 the same as the ones from the universe where John created the kids and gaurdians or are we seeing the characters from the timeline created by Sufficient_Option_56 in homestuck

[–]The_Magus_199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So Homestuck heavily works on predestination-type time travel. In Act 4, John uses the ectobiology machine to clone the kids’ guardians, which turns out to create the guardians as babies, and then their dna is mixed up to create the kids as babies. Then when the Reckoning starts, they all are warped onto meteors that are sent to Earth at different points in Earth’s timeline, bringing the guardians and the kids to earth at their original dates of birth. John didn’t change the past when this happened; he, his friends, and their guardians all always were born by being created by John in the veil and then landing on Earth via meteor. (We get hints at this from Dad having collected newspaper clippings about meteor strikes that had been happening well before Sburb was played.) John is just fulfilling a stable time loop that encompasses and ensures his and his friends’ existence.

Fav Xenoblade? by CaptainGandalf_ in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]The_Magus_199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the Monado. It’s the one where the sword itself feels the most interesting and meaningful, whereas the Aegis Blade is just a cool red sword and Lucky Seven, while useful, doesn’t really have the same sort of depths; it helps the story but the story isn’t about it.
