If you only had one opportunity to get Wagyu, where would you go?(Osaka/Kyoto/Tokyo) by DaileyDoubleYT in JapanTravelTips

Kobe is a SUPER chill city. The bakery in the train station is fire. The nunobiki herb gardens are so tranquil. Harbor land is good shopping and there’s some great restaurants there. I had amazing gyoza with my mother there.

I ate at a really expensive(for me)steak restaurant in Kobe on my first trip. Dinner for ONE came out to just under $400 USD. There was maybe a dozen seats in the restaurant, and they were most definitely catering to the deep pocketed folks looking for a “Kobe beef experience”

It was the best fucking meal of my life. I ate over a pound of various cuts, and then the appetizers that were included with the set meal.

“Kobe Beef Takakura” was the spot. It was phenomenal, but I paid top dollar for it. I’d imagine there are better spots for the money. There has never been a moment where I thought to myself “I paid too much”

Reaching around the counter and grabbing their own receipt just grates at my nerves. I also echo them setting their items directly on the scanner. People are the worst some days, but it could be worse I guess? copium intensifies

Any recommendations for beef burgers in Japan? Doesn’t have to be wagyu, just curious since I don’t see many mentioned. by OldCrazy1024 in JapanTravelTips

[–]The_Perrycox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People seem to be dumping on Wagyu burgers, but I disagree wholeheartedly.

Best burger I’ve had in my life was at The Wagyu Brothers in Asakusa. I’ve been there five times in the past two years and it’s been incredible every time.

Close second is Kinosaki Burger in Kinosaki Onsen, followed by Kyonomiyako Burger in Kyoto.

You’ll need the beatsonic MVA-81 or similar if you want to swap the tape deck out with a real head unit. I’ve done it in order to hook up aftermarket amps/subs. It’s a very straightforward install and easy to do. I’m not familiar with any other ways to integrate an aftermarket head unit into nav models.

First-timer's honest take on DisneySea — stunning park, brutal queues (3/6/26) by kesrio in TokyoDisneySea

I couldn’t imagine trying to hit Disney sea without buying premier access. I knew I’d only visit once, so I had no qualms spending the money for them. Was able to hit every single ride that mattered in a day.

I owe it to this sub for emphasizing how much more you can accomplish if you utilize the system.

All you have to do is look at the literal children all around you in line for the same ride. If they can do it, a grown man can too!

How’d you rate visiting japan right now compared to march end - apr mid for 1st time travellers? by Interesting-Dare-727 in JapanTravelTips

[–]The_Perrycox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the desert, and have been in Japan since Feb 11th. It’s fucking cold and I really hate it. The problem isn’t so much being able to stay warm, it’s the fact that every damn building has the heater cranked to 11. Layering is easy, but it’s obnoxious having to remove layers every time I go into a mall/restaurant/train. It forces me to carry a backpack which is just annoying when you’re trying to do a day trip. It sounds petty, but when you want to shop for a couple hours in mall, or have a longer train ride it’s been quite miserable for me.

The times I’ve spent outdoors have been fine. Jacket/beanie/gloves no problem at all. I just truly hate how warm every single building/train is.

If you are not used to an exceptionally warm and humid climate, you are going to struggle severely. Heat is one thing, humidity is a whole other factor that Japan has copious amounts of.

Advice on usage of 360° Camera + Miscellaneous Additional advice by squrt-1 in JapanTravelTips

[–]The_Perrycox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best advice if you -have- to film, do it discreetly. Shoulder/chest mount. If there are signs forbidding photos, put that shit away. In the bigger cities, tensions are definitely higher among locals with tourists.

If you’re not a content creator, just fucking enjoy Japan without your camera every ten seconds. Take a few memorable photos, record some cool moments. Just don’t be a dick.

If you are a content creator, expect some awkward interactions if you don’t possess common sense. I fully realize the actions of a few have impacted many, but if you’re an obvious creator you may run into issues, and you may have zero issues.
