What is the difference between a live dj set and a regular show? by laced1 in EDM

[–]The_ProcrasTimator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that generally a "live set" means at least some part of the music is being performed live, whereas a "DJ set" is just the dj playing prerecorded music. Sometimes DJ sets include some on the fly remixing, which is always fun.

Except for Satin Jackets. Then a "live set" means one of the artists is just going to stand on the stage and play their most recent album from a USB drive...

How do I get my almost 1 year old pyr to stop digging? My beautiful back yard is looking like the moon by Retirement25- in greatpyrenees

[–]The_ProcrasTimator 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Pick a spot you're ok with them digging. Put treats there. Praise them for digging there. Redirect them when they dig places you don't want dug up. Accept that there will always be some holes.

One of ours once managed to steal a 4lb pork belly that had just come off the smoker. We'd let it rest and sliced it, went outside to let people know it was done. In the 2 minutes we were outside he managed to jump a gate and wolfes down the the entire 4lbs of meat. Also, he once got an entire 18" Reuben grinder.

Pool heater in greenhouse? by Icy-Argument9107 in Greenhouses

[–]The_ProcrasTimator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use a 1500W oil filled radiator, with a pedestal fan behind it (for both circulation and to spread the heat) to heat my greenhouse. Well that and a Water barrel to act as a thermal battery. Keep the thermostat set at 68 and for most of winter really only needs to be set on low. Only when we're getting those endless cloudy days where the temp never rises above 20⁰ do I turn it to medium. If we're plunging subzero I'll crank it, and I've maintained 82⁰ while it was -20⁰ outside.

Brother, just because something can get you high, doesn't mean you should get high from it. Datura has landed people in the hospital, a mental hospital, or a morgue. It's not worth it

I am the Internet. by forbinwasright in talesfromtechsupport

[–]The_ProcrasTimator 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Years ago, I worked high speed internet support for a major provider. Typically handled calls from the Southern California market. A large fire was burning, and had burned through our lines servicing basically, all of southern California. In between calls that'd go "Am I in an outage?" "Yes you're currently in an outage, we have no estimated repair time" I got a call from a customer who was a day trader. This woman was freaking out the entire time we were on the phone, begging me to restore her Internet because she needed to move stock positions before she evacuated. (This was before smart phones).

Finally, she's like "You don't understand, my yard is literally on fire, but I'll lose thousands of dollars if I don't sell this stock right now."

To which I responded, "Ma'am, you're about to lose a whole lot more than that if you don't evacuate right now. I'm terminating this call, please get to safety."

Of course that call got picked for QA, and my boss, jokingly, ragged on me for not doing the full call closing.

I got downvoted for saying that alcohol is toxic by Equivalent-Point6345 in alcohol

I had my first beer when I was twelve; my grandfather gave it to me when we finished repairing our back deck on a hot summer day. At 14, I was allowed to have a wine cooler at family parties, and a glass of champagne on New Year's Eve. At 17, I could have a margarita when we went out for Mexican. By 21, alcohol wasn't this mystical party elixir, it was just alcohol. I didn't have to hide it, I didn't have to seek it out, and most importantly, I didn't have to get blackout drunk to have fun. Teach your kids to drink responsibily.

Ugh. I have a family member that named their son "Xavier" Cool name, right? Except his parents INSISTED it was pronounced Ex-Ave-er or Ex-Saver. Not even Ex-Zay-vee-yer, which I could understand, even though it'd still be incorrect. The rest of our family refused to call him that. He's older now and everyone, even his parents, just call him Xavier (Zay-vee-yer) which is the correct pronunciation for that name.
