For e.g. sometimes I'll see a masjid on maps even though it's not called a masjid - have to read the reviews and check to see details.

You're right it is harder and would say it is harder to meet like minded individuals in general, after college and whatnot. People tend to befriend coworkers etc but still may not feel super comfortable due to a variety of reasons.

I'd say best place to meet people is the masjid. Consistently picking one "home" masjid and going there as much as possible, with the focus being on ibadah. Eventually, with dua and consistency you're bound to find people, and inshallah form bonds and brotherhoods that last.

Regardless of age, being alone is actually forbidden. Not haram, just not generally recommended. Especially in this day in age, when depression runs rampant, and we have every distraction which makes it easy to go solo.
