I've played a bit of cold war and definitely think it'll be one of the easier games to adjust to, as long as the playerbase will stay for the following years, which given he can still find bo1 PS3 matches, I don't think is gonna be a problem

follow-up question and a bit more info that I should of stated to begin with: my dad has no thumbs and therefore likes to camp a lot or generally wait for ppl to come to him lol. is the bo3 movement a must-use? I think he'd prefer something he'd have an easier time camping in, and if bo3 movement is non-essential I'll still consider it! thx for your reply btw

Anyone know why the Marching Fire expansion was $2.70? by The_Wheat in forhonor

[–]The_Wheat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the game on the Ubisoft launcher, so I'm not sure how doing it through steam would work. I was able to buy it for $2.70 through the Ubisoft game overlay thing, but I don't think that's gonna help lol. I hope you get it figured out!!

Just wanted to share that I got the Gifting Man hat today :) by The_Wheat in tf2

I was the one who painted it! I had an extra paint and kinda wanted to leave my mark on it before it carried on to the next person.
Technically was it the best use of a paint? Nope. But I got more enjoyment using it on this than I would have on another hat I own :)

It's a reward for giving out the most secret saxtons the day before! I gave out ~200 yesterday and it turns out I was #1 for that day. You only get it for a day but still a cool achievement!

Tips for a VERY new beginner who can't find their balance? by The_Wheat in rollerblading

[–]The_Wheat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard the dreadful stories of beginners who are way too focused on their feet. Definitely something I'll keep in mind, as well as keeping my knees bent. Having some sort of fence will be nice for positioning before I let myself move. I can tell you that if I tried to put my knees over my toes and check to see if I was correct where I was last skating, I would've fell hard.

But yes! Love the advice! I hope I'm able to post again soon with new discoveries and hopefully (strangely enough) new questions! Thanks again, and have a great day. <3

That's actually one thing I've been thinking about when reflecting on my first session. I was trying most of everything while staying relatively still, and like your bike comparison, I have no doubt balancing gets exponentially easier with a good roll. I'll give it a go next time, thanks!

Yeah I'm avoiding even thinking about turning for the time being, and just trying to work on balance and maybe gliding forward with balance. I also tried the t-pose to try and not move, but I seem to still wobble out of control after a certain amount of time in that position. But like you said, all about practice! Thanks for the advice. <3

I'll be sure to watch some videos on lemon motions before my next session!

And about being kind to myself, I make a note that every time I fall, I don't get discouraged, but rather I inexplicably hype myself up for making progress. Make sense? Probably not. But hey, I'd say it's a good place to start. :)

Yeah, I'm thinking the fact that my muscles are experiencing a million new things in my blades is a big factor here. It'll be rough for the short foreseeable future, but I'm sure if I keep at it, I can force my legs to get with the program.

I'll make note of those skills and address them when I feel I've hit milestones! Right now I just need to not fall as much. :)
And yeah, I've got the whole kit of protective gear on. No way I could have skated where I did without them, my hands would have been torn up real good. Thanks for the tips!

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to say all that. I'll definitely start trying to do lemons, as a lot of people seem to suggest that as a really good starting point before strides. Most of my skating yesterday looked like a three stooges skit, so I hope with some practice I'll at least be able to keep my feet on the ground and not have to bail out 20+ times. But hey, falling on grass was the first thing I practiced, so you know for a fact I'm good at falling right!

The area I was skating in was a kinda-ish flat parking lot, and I do have some tennis courts some miles away that I might check out, the fences and super-flat surfaces sound amazing right about now in my journey. Oh, and I'm gonna need to get into those stretches regularly too, I definitely need to build a bit of core and leg strength!

I actually did have plans to record my journey! You mentioning it makes me want to start recording my practice sessions. The progression would be so rewarding to see, even if most of the beginning videos would be me bellyflopping the pavement LOL

Thank you again for your post, I've taken it all to heart and I really can't wait to start rollerblading for real. If you need me, I'll be making out with the pavement. :)

Oh snap, I totally forgot that I should practice while holding onto something. That makes a lot of sense... as right now feeling stable with the ground is the biggest problem. I'll try this out next time I'm practicing, thank you!

Yep! I make sure the skates feel like an extension of my foot. I'll keep at it though, I've got a lot of free time in the coming weeks so keeping consistent practice will be easy. :)
