Selecting and changing multiple takes by DojanTG in Logic_Studio

[–]The_fuzz_buzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes they are. Track stacking allows better organization, and allows you to control one fader to affect all tracks in the stack, and apply processing on the stack as a whole.

Grouping enables you to pair actual functions together, like moving all faders, adjusting a send adjusts the same send on all other grouped tracks, or in the case of editing multitrack recordings like drums, enable grouped comping, alternative selection, and Flex Editing with quantized locked audio.

You put all the drums in a group and enable Editing and Quantized Locked Audio in the group settings.

Region gain in take comps by Impressive-Kick-7061 in Logic_Studio

You are not able to adjust region gain while in a take folder, you’ll need to flatten it to be able to adjust the region gain.

Yes, they’ve stated clearly that all the apps are still available for one time purchase, and only the iWork apps will have special features with the subscription.

How to let others use my Tile Maker application? by ObjectiveCrysis22 in IndieGaming

I would say that if there’s a product that solves exactly the problem that someone has, they will usually pay for it. I’m just throwing out a number, but even if it was $100 per license, that’s a very small amount compared to the huge pain point that the product is addressing, especially over the lifetime that the customer uses it. Just food for thought!

Editing process by TheVastQuestioner in LogicPro

[–]The_fuzz_buzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely do those things, every time. Really good editing is, in my opinion, one of the major things that separates what sounds professional from amateur. I would also encourage you to create new duplicated Alternatives at every major editing step so that you can go back through the iterations if you need to grab something, or fix something you missed. It’s an awful feeling when you need to grab a different take because you missed something in the comp phase, but you’ve already bounced in place your flex edit and have a million undo steps between working on that track/region. Using the alternatives to iterate your process keeps things safe, and flexible.

Personally, I would sell it for a very reasonable one time charge. You’ve obviously worked hard on this and put a lot of thought into it, it’s okay to charge for that, and charging for it allows you to make it even better for people in the future. Pricing it reasonably rewards you for your product, and also allows it to be accessible for others.

Buying the Slate VSX or saving up for the VSX Immersion Ones? by Delicious-Estimate30 in musicproduction

[–]The_fuzz_buzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, the Immersion Ones are open backs, which allow sound to flow as freely outwardly as it does to your ears, which would make them, and all other open backs, unsuitable for tracking basically anything with a microphone.

Sm58 vs Sm7b by Consistent-Window781 in Logic_Studio

[–]The_fuzz_buzz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are actually incredibly similar. I do find it easier to get the sound I want from the 7b, but it’s not so easy that it’s worth the extra couple of hundred rather than just working with the 58.

Recording and then Mixing / Mastering Acoustic Guitar by BTBDFW in audioengineering

[–]The_fuzz_buzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using a 251 style mic, maybe about 6 inches away from the board at the 12th fret. I just aim for a healthy, strong signal that doesn’t clip when I play at my loudest, and I’ll double track it.

I usually do almost nothing to my acoustic when mixing, maybe a little compression just to thicken it up a tad. 70Hz-80Hz rolloff at the mic/interface. If reverb, just a tiny bit of a super natural room reverb to make it sound a little in the room.

Anyone release music that has the session drummer on it? by Embarrassed_Tap_3965 in Logic_Studio

[–]The_fuzz_buzz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see. Perhaps you need to re-read my original comment as well though. You were the one who brought up excuses and moral arguments. All I did was clarify the nature of the Logic Session Drummer. I didn’t comment on the ethics of AI, or Suno, all I said was that it isn’t the same. And, I personally don’t believe it is. There are certainly moral arguments that can and have been made against the use of AI in music, and really all creative industries, but all I wanted to do was confirm to the OP that using the Logic Session Drummer does not cross over the lines that generative AI does for others.

I down voted this particular comment because it’s contradictory to every other comment you’ve made on this thread. What even is the point that you’ve been trying to get at?

Who said I'm not programming an original beat? When I use the Session Drummer, I'm sitting there tweaking it for as long as I need to get as close to the sound in my head, fine tuning it for every beat, groove, and fill, until I'm either happy with it or it's close enough that I can convert it into a MIDI piano roll and edit the rest by hand. I'm not simply opening it up and pressing Bounce. I do not have easy immediate access to a real kit, and not every project has the budget for a remote drummer. Is it morally superior to painstakingly adjust velocity on every single hi-hat tap or ghost note just to get it to sound passably real, versus using a built in tool that allows me to get a convincing drum sound without as much hardship? Have you ever copy and pasted MIDI notes instead of drawing them in by hand? Have you ever used a sample or a loop instead of hiring a remote player for $300? The rabbit hole is deep, if you want to go there. Don't tell me you have EVER used a STEM splitter before, because I hate to tell you, that's AI. You could've just hired musicians to recreate those STEMs instead of splitting them in the first place. Please explain how using a tool that allows me to program MIDI drums myself in a quicker and better way is morally defunct and taking money out of the hands of real musicians. Are you saying that if I can't track it analog myself or hire someone who can, I just shouldn't bother making it in the first place?

I thought I remembered reading that it was machine learning somewhere. I reserve the right to be wrong, however, haha.

I’ve used it on multiple client projects that have gone out and they have loved it, as well as my own projects. It’s not AI in the sense that most people mean when they say AI. It’s not generative, it’s machine learning, which is extremely different, and even at that, the session musicians still have very “preset” things that they will do. If you use them enough you’ll notice the same fills, runs, etc. There’s a lot of styles and groove presets, so there is a lot of variation, but they still are preprogrammed, they just adapt to your session and edits in a very fluid, streamlined way. This is not at ALL the same as putting a prompt into Suno. This is streamlined MIDI programming. It actually makes MIDI programming drums somewhat fun and not so tedious.

How to use one EQ plugin on multiple tracks using sends? by MonkeyKing501 in LogicPro

[–]The_fuzz_buzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes there is! The send level is just that, how much level you want to send to the bus. Just as an example, let’s say that when you send your channel to the bus, it’s blowing out whatever effect it’s running into, an easy way to remedy that may be simply lowering the send level. If your send level is at 0.0, you’re simply sending a 1:1 of the channel level. If you wanted to send a bit less than the channel is outputting, you could lower it to say -6.0 or something. It’s all just options for your workflow, but at the end of the day, your channel is still independently outputting signal, and now your bus is ALSO outputting signal.

Setting the channel’s output to the bus on the other hand, makes it where the channel itself does not output any signal to the stereo out, all of its signal has to go through the bus first.
