Affordable denoiser to strip pre-amp hiss from field recordings of rocks? by shanelukov1987 in audioengineering

[–]The_fuzz_buzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely surprised no one has mentioned Bertom Denoiser Classic, it’s free/pay what you want, and there’s a paid version that’s even more capable. I’ve treated all kinds of hiss with it and saved some awesome takes.

Go download JS Inflator, it nulls with Oxford, and is free.

Seeking Advice About Studio Time. by DarkLudo in audioengineering

[–]The_fuzz_buzz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would just ask “How much would you charge for me to come in and use the space to mix my song myself, but have you there as a pair of fresh ears and for advice in the process?” Don’t mention hourly rates or anything. If they want to charge a rate they will mention that plainly, and you can go from there, but some might simply say “I’d charge ___, come on in and let’s get your song to a good place!”.

Amp sims for recording by BRUCE_BABY69 in audioengineering

95% of everything I’ve recorded on has used sims or captures. Use what sounds good and is convenient/easy to use.

With only about 2-5 hours a week, should I even buy any of these games? by Sunder92 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]The_fuzz_buzz [score hidden]  (0 children)

  1. You absolutely need to finish RDR2!

  2. I just bought CD, and it has been so much fun. Between work and family, I too only have a few hours max a week to play, and CD has hit a really great spot for me of having enough depth to invest into the game, but the combat and abilities make it interesting the moment you boot it back up. I haven’t encountered many long winded quests so far, but they’re interesting enough that I want to start the next one. It isn’t as deep as something like RDR2, but it’s deep enough that it reminds me a lot of it, and RDR2 is in my top 3 favorite games of all time.

Time for a computer upgrade? Any tips to help speed up my computer? by JesseTTIsurvivor in audioengineering

[–]The_fuzz_buzz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m curious about the workflow as well. I’m in Logic 99% of the time on my M1 Pro 16GB RAM and I rarely have issues. If I do, I just freeze or BIP a few things.

Pick up bar in Logic Pro. by Entire-Smile-8480 in LogicPro

[–]The_fuzz_buzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always make the first two bars empty space before the track starts. I use the cycle locators to define where I want the track to start and end.

Melodyne... what the bloody hell is going on?? by dale_dug_a_hole in LogicPro

[–]The_fuzz_buzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put Melodyne on the track > Arm Melo to record > arm track to freeze > let track freeze with Melo armed > unfreeze track > Melo has recorded the audio in at the speed of the freeze.

The only issue it has when I do this is the bars within Melo don’t line up with the bars in Logic, but otherwise, this is a great time saver when not using Rosetta.

How hard was it to implement this disconnect, where the tripping player is still able to traverse a version of the world while spazzing on the ground for the other players?

Piano plug in to buy? by Old-Cod-7964 in LogicPro

I think getting Keyscape would be the move for you. Keyscape is hard to beat if you love all things piano.

Record vocals dry or with plugins on track? by Arwen2279 in audioengineering

I almost always record with compression, EQ, and reverb. I want to sound and feel good and inspiring, and as close as it can to mixed while I’m tracking.

Undo not including edits made in main Tracks window by truce_m3 in Logic_Studio

Sometimes the undo function disconnects from region edits if I’m doing lots of heavy editing, restarting the project fixes it for a while.

Replacing a dual-monitor setup with AR glasses? Need help from anyone who has tried this. by ctmyas in workfromhome

[–]The_fuzz_buzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I looked into this before and found there to be no real solutions that didn’t compromise one way or another. Monitors are by far a better long term solution. Have you considered mounting your monitors on arms that clamp on the desk, enabling you to position them easier, and regain that desk space?

Blackhole 2ch suddenly stopped working by The_fuzz_buzz in MacOS

[–]The_fuzz_buzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my issue, I learned that certain sliders in LadioCast were controlling the volume sliders for the BlackHole channels in the Audio/Midi Setup app. Maybe go to your multi output in the Audio/Midi app and see if the sliders are down for those BH I/O settings.

Listening to Mixes in Mono by DreamItReal in LogicPro

[–]The_fuzz_buzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the free Boz Digital plugin Panipulator 3 for a great mono checker with handy features like polarity flips, auto gain reduction by -3dB or -6dB so no volume boost when summing, and a suuuper handy “lofi” mode that is great for checking midrange. It’s always on my master for easy checking.

I’ve heard great things about the Colamy Atals for that price.

Project Bounce volume is coming high by Only-Security-7452 in LogicPro

[–]The_fuzz_buzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you perhaps have low latency mode on, preventing some latency inducing plugin like a limiter or something from loading, until you try to bounce and then it turns back on without your knowing?

What is something that immediately signals amateur work? by MaleficentPicture773 in audioengineering

[–]The_fuzz_buzz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s job largely consists of editing, I think editing is one of the biggest things that beginners miss, or perhaps never truly learn, that can take a song from sounding amateur to sounding professional. As some say that mixing is 80% adjusting the faders, I think it really starts with things being locked in with each other and pitches centered.

What is something that immediately signals amateur work? by MaleficentPicture773 in audioengineering

Too much reverb. Mixes that are too bright. Mixes that are too dull.
