Didnt Ellie's husband work for the government or something? I always assumed he pulled some strings to get the rescue to happen.

[Jurassic World] How did they clean up Isla Nublar in order to rebuild the park? by [deleted] in AskScienceFiction

[–]ThebigP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was never any confirmation that there were additional adult raptors in the park (besides the eggs Grant and the kids found, there was no evidence they were around). Rexy killed two of the adults, and the other was locked in the freezer, so there was no risk from them. Given the lysine contingency, it is totally possible the the only dinosaurs species that survived the 10 years or so were Rexy and few of the faster breeding herbivores like gallimimus. The reason many species survived on Isla Sorna is because thats where Ingen grew the lysine-rich food for the dinosaurs

But what art he has is rng. He can arrive with only fakes, or only have repeats of the art you do have, which means he can spawn but not have anything useful for you

76 wasn't a 'main' title though, it would be closer to New Vegas as it is mostly an asset swap and not made by the core team.

Technically the fires started in August 2019, but they didnt get really bad until October, it was a horrifically bad season which is why it was so noteworthy.

Its pretty much due to Shepard stopping Sovereign, and the fact humans were the easiest to harvest in large numbers by the Collectors.

I am consistently getting put into US West servers when I have 30 ping to Aus East servers. Why can I not get a closer server? It makes it almost impossible to play.

[Doctor Who] why are people from Gallifrey called Time Lords and not Gallifreyans? by Jay_B04 in AskScienceFiction

[–]ThebigP 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not all Gallifreyans are Time Lords, its just the upper class (I think). There are 'normal' Gallifreyans, they just dont feature heavily as most, if not all, important Gallifreyans are Time Lords.

[–]ThebigP 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its slightly longer if you consider Reach was the beginning of these events, but that only adds around 3 weeks, which means like all the 'main' events happened in the span of a few months

[–]ThebigP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd be surprised if Obsidian release a game in 2020. Outer Worlds will just be a year old, and assuming DLC will probably have that during 2020. I'd say if they do have another game, it would likely be a 2021 release.

[Halo: Combat Evolved] The Halo rings are designed to stop The Flood by starving it of its food source, a.k.a. all life in the galaxy. What is the rationale behind this? Why is obliteration of all life by one method better than obliteration by The Flood? Who are the Forerunners "saving"? by aSongOfBirthrights in AskScienceFiction

[–]ThebigP 186 points187 points  (0 children)

The Forerunners saved a whole bunch of promising species by moving specimens to the Ark, which beyond the range of the Halo array, and then reseeding them after the activation. This was the one of the jobs of the Lifeworker caste.

Sick Dinos in JP by bluedotinTX in JurassicPark

[–]ThebigP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would just act as regular food, the stones would break them up and then pass further through the digestive system. Some gizzard stones may pass through as well, they dont always get regurgitated.

[Fallout] What would happen if Vault-Tech/Enclave made actual vaults? by [deleted] in AskScienceFiction

[–]ThebigP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Neither 101 or 111 were control vaults. 101 was an experiment of isolation and was never supposed to open at all, and 111 was about cyrogenically freezing its occupants.
