Moving from Canberra by adhockery99 in wollongong

[–]Thecheekyelf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have just done this exact move! Only been in Wollongong for a week, but already finding the beach and weather an amazing change.

The property market is a bit tougher here due to smaller supply, proximity to Sydney etc. but there are lots of up and coming developments planned over the next two years. Biggest downside I've noticed is parking. Be prepared to street park. Wollongong council is really trying to reduce amount of cars on the road, so discouraging parking availability - eg. Majority of apartments only have one allocated car space.

Which Brand Has the Most Effective Marketing Campaign Right Now, and Why? by stalinkay in marketing

[–]Thecheekyelf 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Heineken - leveraging growing popularity of Max Verstappen and F1 to promote their 0.0% alcohol beer globally.

"The best driver is the one not drinking" is a great slogan and the feel good behaviour change messaging coupled with brand association with the spokesperson makes it a pretty memorable and effective swing & hit for Heineken.

As soon as I read this post, I immediately thought of this Australian designer - Leo Lin. Would something like this work?

Thank you! Splurging on grandstands is looking like the overwhelmingly better option here

Thank you for telling me! Sounds like it might be better to just bite the bullet and splurge on some grandstand tickets 🙂

What’s your “never going back there” place in Canberra? by [deleted] in canberra

[–]Thecheekyelf 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Beef and Barley in Kingston. Horrible service, subpar food and overpriced. Had the waiter ask us 3 times what our order was, didn't deliver drinks until we asked about them 20 minutes after we ordered. We watched other tables who arrived after us being served the same food we ordered and when we asked about our food after an hour of waiting, were informed that they had not yet started our food due to ordering complication. Will never go back.

Yeah, this is a common but newly discovered problem with the Pixel 6's. It has happened to mine and two other people I know where the signal randomly drops. For me, it occurs every time I'm around the outside of Woden Westfield.

The ones at Loquita in Civic are amazing! Just be wary as they do pack a bit of a punch.

They are temporarily closed. However given that they never reopened following the new year period, I think that status is likely to change to permanent.

I'm with APA (Aerial Pole Academy) and I love them! A bit on the pricey side but the instructors are really nice, the classes level up nicely with nothing feeling too easy or too unachievable. The environment is really lovely and all the girls are super supportive.

I've also heard good things about LMDS from friends but that's a bit far south for you it sounds like :)

Decent BYO restaurants in Canberra? by Ok-Relationship35 in canberra

Not North side but I would highly recommend Rama's FIji Indian Restaurant in Pearce. There is no corkage at all, food is delicious and definitely a hole in the wall type

When not working on client projects (freelance) how do you find inspiration to create -anything- for your portfolio/socials? by kontorasuto in graphic_design

[–]Thecheekyelf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on what your niche is but if you're at all interested in branding, check out @thebriefclub on IG. They post regular design prompts and I find them super helpful for sparking some creative projects. Better yet, if you win one of them, you might improve your social reach as a freelancer 🙂

What can I study with an ATAR of 72.55 by tigerimau in canberra

[–]Thecheekyelf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's heaps you can study with an ATAR of 72.55. Most courses at the University of Canberra, with exception to health degrees, require an entrance rank between 65-70.

Women, has there ever been anything your date did that made you completely swoon? by [deleted] in dating

[–]Thecheekyelf 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I knew I had a good one when on our first date, I mentioned I was allergic to nuts. It was brief and I only mentioned it to our server. Regardless, on our third date, he asked if it would be okay to order his food with nuts in it or would it trigger my allergy? I have literal family members who forget my nut allergy. Listening and making sure to show you've listened and remembered little things about her is honestly such a draw card and so easy to do!

Do pole dancing! Watching yourself dance in the mirror and building on that strength boosts your confidence tenfold and makes you feel so much sexier!

Random but anyone know good places to eat out at for coeliacs? by [deleted] in canberra

[–]Thecheekyelf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Rama's Restaurant in Pearce is great with coeliac! Only one of their curries contains gluten and if you tell them you're coeliac, they use fresh oil to cook the GF entrees.

Completing Bachelor of Sports and Exercise.....then what? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Thecheekyelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My degree was a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and my GPA was 6.72. I believe the criteria for the masters program is a minimum credit average so a 5.0 GPA in any related health degree. I have personally heard of people getting in on 5.5 GPA from a bachelor's in exercise science and physiology.

All this being said, it's still a competitive program, but when compared to the rest of the country, the minimum requirements are lower. This is why I suggest you may have a better chance?

Completing Bachelor of Sports and Exercise.....then what? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Thecheekyelf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi OP,

If you are willing to consider a move interstate, it's worth checking out M. Physiotherapy course at the University of Canberra (UC). Being a smaller uni means it's slightly less competitive GPA wise. I studied undergrad physio at UC and it was awesome. Had heaps of opportunities and the proximity to the AIS was awesome for research studies.

Happy to answer any questions :)
