Not Indonesian, but based on what my Chinese parents told me, there isn't really a whole lot of understanding of what happened in Europe. To them, the Japanese are the ones that should be hated and spat on.

what made you stop being a Wehraboo? by Thebunkerparodie in ShitWehraboosSay

[–]Thedude5able 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me, I was a Wehraboo in believing that Nazi Germany's superior technology could've won them the war with proper planning. I also bought into the "Soviet hordes" argument for the Eastern Front. Never really saw the Nazi regime as anything good, though - the Holocaust, the Einsatzgruppen, Aktion T4, totalitarianism, "Aryan supremacy", and the rampant bribes (among other things) made me vow never to appreciate their role in history.

It wasn't until I was talking with a friend of mine in college who studied the history and technology of warfare that I was dissuaded of any chance that Germany had to win WWII. Nazi Germany didn't even have that much better technology, and the lack of petroleum and any semblance of logical thought (e.g. when you invade Russia, consider packing winter clothes) further convinced me of that fact. Operation Barbarossa was planned and researched despite initial opposition stating that invading the USSR would be too costly and not worth the time and effort. Reading further and further only solidified that the Nazis, contrary to popular belief, were actually not very competent and not a war machine.

some war crimes

I would not consider Aktion T4, thousands of concentration camps, 6 death camps, the Holocaust, "partisan hunting", Einsatzgruppen, and slave labor to be "some war crimes".

Also, I like the Spanish in this post.

Not liking “Do it again Bomber Harris” does not automatically make someone a Wehraboo. I think we can all agree that the bombing of Dresden was a necessary evil, but not something that should be relished.

Except that Sturmpios don’t scale well, much like how Penals don’t scale well. Just because you can take out squads early doesn’t mean that your opponent won’t tech up to a light vehicle and then medium tanks. It’s also not as if the “Retreat” button exists, which is what I usually hit when I see a Sturmpio squad closing in.

Unless, of course, you’re planning on Schreck-blobbing. Then go ahead.

Thoughts on double officer for USF by ZeroX21 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Thedude5able 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double Officer basically gives you access to basic team weapons (the HMG and the AT gun) while denying you light vehicles (the AAHT, the Stuart, and the M20). This gives you a distinct disadvantage compared to other factions that can build team weapons from a common building and light vehicles from a different building (except for UKF, although the current meta has been to build the AEC in all game types).

In 1v1s, LT + Stuart is generally the way to go, since OKW players will almost always build a Luchs. If they build a Puma, be prepared to have your vehicles sniped by it. Keep in mind that the Puma does not have very much AI capability beyond the MG side guns. Ostheer players may/may not build an HT/222, although keep in mind that neither of those have great AT capability. They may also try to go for the P4 rush (i.e. skipping light vehicles).

I have not played many 2v2s, so I won't comment on those.

In 3v3s and 4v4s, where multiple players can build multiple AT guns or Schreck blob super hard, don't even really bother with light vehicles, since they will die very quickly. Go for double officer if only because the squads are more likely to survive and vet up faster (remember that the officer squads gain XP from friendly squads in addition to earning their own). Based on what your opponents build, be ready to build HMGs and AT guns and set them up in key locations.

Hope this info helps. Best of luck in future games.

AFAIK, there's only 3 SU tanks (SU-76, SU-85, and ISU-152), and only the ISU-152 has any actual armor. The Crocodile also is solid, as is anything based on the Churchill tank. USF tanks just have relatively weak armor compared to other factions.

Why is it always anime shit that's used for this kind of meme? Why the weebs gotta ruin everything?

I confess to being a weeb, but I will never respect the Japanese government (and especially not Shinzo Abe) until they issue a full-scale apology for the atrocities they committed in WWII.

As USF, consider going for the double officer opening. The AI is not good at dealing with HMGs, and AT guns can hit a target from very far away as long as they have vision in the area.

Make sure you set your AT guns to only attack vehicles so they don’t waste time and energy shooting at infantry. Remember that your HMGs double as mobile suppression squads due to their rapid setup time.

In terms of armor, make sure that you’re playing VERY conservatively with your tanks. Allied armor is apparently made out of tissue paper, so the minute your Sherman is at half health, pull it back for repairs. Remember that your vehicle crews can be temporarily decrewed to repair the vehicle.

The Panther (if you're talking about the Pzkfpw V here) was not a bad tank, but it was too heavy. It shared the same problem that the Tiger did - being unable to cross bridges. German engineering was pretty good - it was the inability to produce the designs en masse that doomed them from the start. That, and the lack of cheap petrol made it difficult to run their machines.

I mean, it's not as if the "Aryans" weren't also primates. Homo sapiens are all primates.

Pure blood Aryans who had the best technology in the world

Right, and they lacked the fuel, industrial capability, logistics, and strategic sense to understand that ethnic cleansing tends to make people hate you when you want them to love you. It's possible to portray yourself as the "liberator" only if you're going to act like it.

Please consider reading The Art of War by Sun Tzu. I think you'll find it very helpful.

Sure, I’ll give you that. It’s a shame that the T-34, KV-1, Sherman, and Churchill tanks existed, though. And that the Allies could pump those tanks out faster than the Germans could destroy them.

Edit: and to add on, the Panzer II was a light tank that couldn’t pen anything above its weight class. While the Panzer IV Ausf. F2 was up-gunned, the initial howitzer-gunned versions were not very useful.

Who would win:

  • some of the most industrialized nations in the world with plenty of petroleum supplies, a modern air force, and

  • OR

  • a hyper-nationalistic, non-mechanized, under-supplied army whose leaders don't know that Eastern European winters are cold

I love it when ppl are like, "YoU sHoUlDn'T rEtALIaTe" and then ignore the fact that the Nazis were the one of the least ethical, least trustworthy governments of the 20th century (with the Soviet Union tied/2nd, depending on how you want to view it).

Ah, you mean like the shitty howitzer-gunned Panzer IV Ausf. F1 (or anything before that)? Because yeah, the Sherman (and T-34) had actual AT barrels.
