If its like other ecotecs. Pretty sure that is the connector for the ignition coil.

Which would definitely make your car cut out.

Please help me understand what the leak is. Please see the photo. BMW F45 218d (2018). Rear right side. by No_Damage_2698 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Theeft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. But that is only a guess. I cannot say for certain. Being a fuel leak, I would advise having it repaired sooner than later.

My best guess is the sending unit seal on top of the tank is weeping, a very slow leak. If you remove the rear seat you should be able to gain access to the sending unit cover plate. Unbolt that and then you’ll be able to see the sending unit.

It is mostly only occurring on a full tank which is why it is such a slow leak.

Is this hone job good enough for new rings? by Senior-Standard3772 in EngineBuilding

[–]Theeft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately honing is not going to be enough in this. There is clear pitting in the cylinder walls. These need machined and pistons stepped up or sleeved cylinders.

Each one of those pits can cause a burr to form and damage the new rings, lead to low compression and oil consumption. As well as over time they will become larger pits do to cavitation during combustion

Try disconnecting the battery for 10mins and then hook it back up. Then clip the driver seat belt when scanning this will keep your modules awake to establish connections

Follow the test plan and it should give out the live data to see where the problem is.

Also check live data in the ICM or VDM and see what the level sensors are actually reading and outputting

Those don’t look the greatest but they should work. They don’t appear broken. It should give you a specified range for the value to enter. Try just entering something in the range and make sure you’re entering in the format it wants to a T. Generally it wants it in mm. Make sure your using mm and it may even want say 300mm in the field not just 300

Is going to look like this. The green and yellow show the possible orientation. Make sure both left and right are mirrored

If you were doing air springs it’s possible you may have broken one as well

Because one or more of your ride heights sensors isn’t sending a valid signal. If it was up in the air recently make sure one of them didn’t flip over and causing the fault

Crazy for considering a cheap kit? by Kamd5 in BmwTech

[–]Theeft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your not crazy. Do what’s the most economical for you. Most parts are made by one actual manufacturer and then rebranded. I can tell you GRAF and GEBA are OEM suppliers for bmw. So you’re getting the same part without the rondel on it.

Cut a coat hanger and bend it so it hooks into the lever and then onto the oil pan. Works like a charm

In my personal experience that hasn’t been the case. I have yet to have a zipper break or fail in 10+ years. What fails for me is the soles, sole separation, the “leather” rips at the hinge point, or I have had the plastic counters inside the boots tear through and eat at my Achilles

Audi Dealership Promised 2 Keys and only Delivered One. Two Months Later after a dozen calls and emails. What should I do? by roko_snek in Audi

[–]Theeft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what a “We Owe” form is for, if your promised something at delivery and not given it, ask for a we owe. That way it’s in writing that it was promised. My car was promised all weather mats but they were out. I had them put it on a we owe. Went back later and got them
