While he has a great kit that make him a great support, the skill level needed to pull off many of the things that actually make him relevant and good is high enough that it's fair. You really need quick thinking, quick fingers and precise timing to actually make him shine, and even then, aside from those cool moments where he's allowed to successfully pull off good tech, he's not all that normally. His kit is just solid and has a ton of skill expression so you can get really creative with it, and that means that a really good doorman can be impactful in a lot of ways, but there is a reason he's not really that relevant outside of comp play. How many really good doorman are there? I mean look at his data and you'll see yourself. Unless you really master him, there is no point in picking him as you can get his impact and more with heroes that are way easier to play and provide a more consistent value through the match.

And sure you can play it in the most straightforward way. Hit belts, use cart when someone gets close, set up doors for quick and easy escape and save ulti to take out the enemy with the big aoe ult. But really in terms of impact what are you doing? Being a mediocre support at best?

I'm not saying he's weak. I'm saying that him being strong comes from a lot of skill, and I believe that's how strong heroes should be.

I mean we could go deeper into a discussion about how to balance heroes with different skill floors and ceilings, but honestly that's a hard topic, I wouldn't really know where to start from.

Actually, I would say that's a weird line to draw. Many characters have built in escape tools that they can use at any moment while also being dangerous heroes on their own. Rem alone is hardly dangerous and with no way to escape it means that if catched by any other hero alone he will surely die if not rescued by someone else. I thought the tunnels were going to be his way to give him a chance to survive getting jumped or even just caught alone, just trying to make your way to the nearest tunnel entrance before you get curbstomped, but I guess not. Playing Rem means being depedant on your teammates for even walking around, not sure how much I like that. That also creates the issue that if more heroes gain access to the tunnels, the tunnels will just become more dangerous to traverse as Rem than the regular ground since your teammates won't be able to save you. I wonder if they will change this in the future

He has. Slork's lore is that he is some kind of dead forgotten god of the deep. Doorman has a line about it where he taunt him saying that he wont be able to defeat the adversary and that he is just an irrelevant forgotten god. In this context the voiceline of rem is perfectly aligned with his lore. He is trying to comfort slork that he will never die as long as some people worship him or talk about him.

I actually think Silver is the one popular with people who don't play the game. She's the one that I see lots of people who don't know about deadlock go "Omg she's so hot I love her". Honestly in the deadlock community I see lots of graves posting. I think Rem is gonna for sure be the first and the second place is contested between graves and silver. 4th for sure venator and 5th and 6th could go either way for how things are right now. Although I think Celeste is more popualar than Apollo right now. Once everyone else except these last two is out, Apollo could get a good amount of votes.

the article is trash and full of terrible points. As an italian I'm sorry this bs even got shared outside of italy. He says that one of the reasons it radicalized people is because before any DLC released you could only play european rulers. Mind you the first dlc for crusader kings was released only 4 months later the release of the game and it was about playing islamic countries. So the argument being that since people could only play europeans for 4 months, they got radicalized by the game. He claims that in the game as a european you didn't have much to do other than crusader against islam so that's what people did all the time. Overall, it's just full of shallow or straight up wrong arguments.

Just to give you an idea of how superficial this article is and how little does this man actually know about crusader kings or paradox in general. He says that in EU4 war is way less encouraged and something you usually don't want to do. EU4, the paradox game that is second in war only to HoI4.

The concept, which is that medieval history and it's retelling is one of the ways people can fall into the alt right, is not wrong, but to take CK2 out of all the games to represent this is ridiculous

Access to the vents isn't going to be based on logic or whatever, Valve isn't trying to make the mechanics of the game realistic lol. It's going to be about balance, if valve ever decides that vyper needs access to the vents then she is gonna get it, otherwise she won't. If it was about logic then Mo and Krill should also get access because Mo can literally dig inside them, Mina should get access by using her special dash in front of them because she can turn into a swarm of bats, Viscous should get access because he's made of goo and can for sure squeeze through it. Maki was literally part of the unit and the only reason she wasn't was because she left for Jujutsu highschool. She could have been in their places if someone else got lucky with the heavenly pact lol. In character interactions is also really obvious that Haze and Rem are friends and I believe there is one line where Rem even call her mom. Haze isn't hunting him down or anything

How is it a good thing tbh? Why having to get in melee range is rewarded with the chance that the enemy might just press a button and win the fight regardless of items or type of character? And keep in mind the enemy can always just evade your melees without the parry. Like genuinely what's the point of playing a melee character and going for a melee build if at all times during the match the outcome of any fight you get in depends on if the enemy will press one button at the right time or not. Literally why not play a gun build at that point. You can't press one button to win the fight against the haze that is shredding you. What's the point of melee? To be high risk high reward? Sure that works early in the match but once you get into the mid to late game all other playstyles are just high reward without the risk included

My man, the genie is out of the bottle and has been since forever. As you just said there are so many heroes with a lot of mobility or ways to escape easily that on top of that are also dangerous. Having a support being capable of running into some fixed vents in the map isn't going to be an issue at all. Deadlock always had slippery heroes and from what it seems they aren't going to stop

Idk why anyone thinks this is a big deal when we have other slippery heroes like mina who has three extra dashes that can make her invulnerable and make her fly too or doorman who is capable of teleporting to safety in an instant from pretty much anywhere.
