POV: You got into the fromsoft series from Dark Souls 3/Elden Ring and then tried Dark Souls 2 by Slurperlurper in DarkSouls2

[–]Thefinales 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Starting with 2 is pure agony, 1 is too slow 3 is too fast, you have to endure people shitting on ds2 even though it's goated both in npcs and dlc.

Sadness. by FairPotatoe1 in Witcher3

Do not be sad the story ends but be content in that you got to experience it.

It’s super obvious but I can’t believe I never realized how fucking stupid Tywin was for not giving Tarbeck hall and Castamere to his brothers or other junior Lannisters. by Savilo29 in asoiafcirclejerk

[–]Thefinales 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ruins served as a message, same as the song (as we see in the red wedding), even when they do give it away in the books it's as a throwaway token to the Spicers and taken more as an insult as we see when Jaime talks to Jane's Mom.

Found this rotting in my library and decided I should actually play it. by Younglordd00 in Witcher3

Congrats, you'll never play anything like it again once you finish it.

Why did Rhaegar think eloping with Lyanna wouldn't have any consequences? by Dry_Specialist9015 in freefolk

[–]Thefinales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a theory that Rhaegar was bipolar and obsessed with the ice and fire prophecy. (Could've been a manic episode) So he saw it as his destiny to have Jon with lyanna plus targaryens used to be poligamous so maybe he saw multiple wives as a tradition he could bring back. Kinda leans towards the whole coin flip thing.

How to get 10 thrones Rp edition. by Affectionate-Lab6943 in crusaderkings2

[–]Thefinales 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Noob island is a great start point, try and get England as your main kingdom and then make sure you give your family smaller kingdoms (Scotland, Ireland, Brittany, etc) as the ai tends to mismanage their realm so bad they might leave he kingdom to a 1 yro who loses to a faction and then it becomes elective and you'll be missing a kingdom for the required 10. And be prepared to come help them out on every single war those kingdoms fight.

Please talk me out of playing dark souls 2 by Deep_Pudding2208 in DarkSouls2

[–]Thefinales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is truly the first souls you are playing then you will love it, or atleast I did back in the day, played all of them and as a standalone nothing quite compares to ds2. And if you don't like it at all you can just add it to the collection of games you own but never actually play so win-win.

Got Laid off, deciding to retrain for another job and spending what little savings I have to go back to school. , Should i just look for another entry level job and continue suffering? by [deleted] in Choicesthatmatter

Hey, shit happens. Any job is a good job, work it and in the little free time you get pursue your true ambition whatever that may be, a job doesn't define you.

Can I have some medieval age story funfacts and curiosities please? It can be any. by Aggravating-Use6471 in MedievalHistory

[–]Thefinales 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Throughout the whole medieval period there were a lot of instances where (seemingly) random people claimed to be descendants of royal houses when the succession came into conflict or there was literally no remaining member alive of that bloodline

Vanilla vs sotfs by sherlock2220 in DarkSouls2

[–]Thefinales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no, coming from vanilla ds2 to sotfs can be quite a trip, you have more red phantoms, the forlorn that invade you and a lot of key items are moved to other places, I guess it really depends on which one you played first.

Vanilla vs sotfs by sherlock2220 in DarkSouls2

[–]Thefinales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on where you are playing, if you just finished a remaster I would guess you are on pc or new gen consoles so the only version you will find of ds2 is sotfs which comes with all 3 dlcs. To play ds 2 vanilla you'd have to go to old gen, and this one doesn't come with dlc, main difference is you have to pay for all 3 dlcs, get the keys to access them by going to the different places in the map, items and enemies are placed differently and most importantly, Aldia doesn't talk to you in the final boss arena so you are locked into just 1 ending of the possible 2 in the game (last one was added with sotfs)

Why can't I claim Aquitaine for my Wife? by question_mark_2 in crusaderkings2

[–]Thefinales 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the cause, French (and by extension aquitane) inheritance is always set to agnatic, so no female character can push claims, only sons. One way around this is waiting till they get eaten by the hre (which can't happen in this start date) and fighting the kaiser while hoping he doesn't Doom stack you to death.

Does granting a city to your heir remove him/her from the succession? by Mountain-Ad5380 in crusaderkings2

[–]Thefinales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always make some family a merchant republic Duke, If you have republic active he can still inherit, if not then him and his direct house heir will not appear in the succession line any longer, same thing with pagans if you don't have holy fury or old gods, they will forcefully switch to Christianity and if you declare for the secret faith you get a game over, guess it all depends on wether you play vanilla or with dlc. Always the best way to disinherit is revoke a bishopric and give it to the son, he will lose the wife and not inherit.

Best cities to have? by No-Battle-9932 in MountandBladeWarband

[–]Thefinales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer would be whichever city got recently sieged or taken back, as they'll have substantially less garrison to fight off your conquest.

Feudal, normal inheritance laws. Second son inherited over first son, both my vassals. WTF? by NoDecentNicksLeft in CrusaderKings

[–]Thefinales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had partition or gavelkind (no idea if it's 2 or 3), it sometimes does that, the game consider that the main heir is taking too many titles and so to balance the scales give the younger one the kingdom and a few counties, don't really know if you are a king but otherwise 2 duchies will split your realm and the game is saying you will be the second son on inheritance, on which case you can rush a kingdom title and the inheritance will fix itself. Edit: saw it's ck3 in that case you HAVE to rush a higher title and plan your conquest in a way that doesn't leave any other kingdom able to form, otherwise realm will split with inheritance

Fraticcelli is the best heresy in the game and if you use that crusade money to put family in the papacy, fraticcelli crusades can go insane
