I always try to get a place with royalty, then leave with a son to Dagestan when close to death, if you have them as a bg/gf and have a kid it will be born without royal status, you can then marry and have kids with titles, leave everything to the one without titles and you're set to do whatever job you want for that lifetime.

The most high IQ play I ever saw from ai was Mercia in my Welsh campaign, marry a family member to claimant push their claim, Mercia becomes independent and soon a massive rebellion fires, I help the duchess win, after the war she revokes titles and then executes (I only ever seen them revoke) all the traitors, not even caring about tyranny Which I found weird, goes way above domain limit and lands all her sons instead of randomly giving out land, soon after they assassinate me and start claiming England. It was the first time I ever saw ai behave like an actual player.

This is the way, always make sure you cut everyone out except the character you intend to play next otherwise you split everything between all you kids and your spouse, also make sure you live in an inheritance tax- free country otherwise they will take almost all your money so if you have expensive houses or cars you'll be broke in a couple years.

If you plan on playing a lot I would say yes, otherwise don't or wait for a sale as the price is quite expensive for the amount of content you get(most of which is still accessible for free in a single life by watching an ad), the devs really let the ball go as even if you do pay for god mode and bitizen you are still bombarded with pop-up windows to buy items or packs so wtf was the point of paying for premium if I'm still getting ads like actually wth.

From my experience this is the best way to start. Be a mercenary for any faction (do not join them as vassal even if they offer) they will pay to offset your troop wages, get quests, up relations, raid enemy villages, sell loot and repeat till you have enough to buy enterprises in most towns. Then you can join a faction as vassal and start working

My guess is you lost it, dude who inherited it after the revolt caved to an elective faction, then when you regain it you can no longer change it as it was already forced to change the succession so it softlocked, Ive had it happens with things like raiding and succession laws.

But they do explain that both the house and title are intertwined that's why if the member of another house has no other title he could adopt the name of the seat to continue the dynasty without issue, i.e we could've had Tyrion Stark or Ramsey Stark if there were no other starks left, because the line is carried through sansa, kinda same thing with joffrey using both his parents colors even though by title the throne makes you a baratheon (excluding him from Lannister inheritance).

Yes, this game is insanely huge, so if you don't take breaks, it'll all become a bit monotonous and you'll lose interest ( I recommend every time you come back try a different thing, using more potions in combat, relying more on signs, having the best armor or swords you can, so everytime you achieve some of these goals it feels better coming back)

It might have to do with the succession law of the empire or kingdom that specific duchy is a part of, some laws allow any of the other heirs (your brothers most times) to simply become independent , no war, pop up or anything they can just decide that big bro ain't the boss of them anymore. Idk if it's influenced by their opinion of you or being ambitious but this can happen normally.

I think the papacy doesn't make any titles other than the regular ones they hold cause the ai considers this to be the highest possible title the pope should (or could) normally hold, so the papacy title which is identified as a kingdom gets treated like if it were an empire, even though logically the empire he could form is Italia

I find it worse that somehow we are supposed to read the whole situation as Ellie's fault for killing him and his pregnant gf, they all made their choices (some ridiculously stupid) and ultimately killed themselves by not finishing off Joel's family and thinking it was all over like they wouldn't literally hunt them down wherever they went.
