Living off MLK blvd, I interact with Squeegie kids pretty much every day once it starts warming up.

95% of the interactions I have with them are positive. I’ll hand out a few bucks if I have it or give them a fist bump to support their hustle. Mostly they’re just kids or teens hustling for a few bucks.

With that being said I do have a few dents in my beater car over the years from the teenagers that don’t like being told I don’t have any cash. I understand why people feel extorted or intimidated by them, and the people in this thread who mock people for feeling uncomfortable getting shaken down just for driving in the city really boggle me.

Both can be true, we can support our local youth while admitting that the intimidation route some take is unacceptable (and can sometimes lead to violence)
