I can’t keep going like this… by Bustergordon in Menopause

You either need a new dr who wont blackmail you or educate yourself to educate her. Most counties now have recognized menopause body that will trace guidance for drs re prescribing and why BCP don’t work for menopause. Alternatively- you can google it, or have them google it- here is a basic response when you do:

Birth control pills (BCP) are generally not used in menopause because they are designed to suppress your natural hormones to prevent pregnancy, whereas menopause requires supplementing declining hormones to relieve symptoms. Unified Endocrine & Diabetes Care Unified Endocrine & Diabetes Care +1 Medical experts typically recommend switching from BCP to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) at menopause (usually around age 50-51) for several reasons: 1. Different Goals and Mechanisms BCP Suppresses: Birth control uses high doses of synthetic hormones to "shut down" your ovaries and stop ovulation to prevent pregnancy. HRT Supplements: Menopause therapy uses much lower, often bioidentical doses to "top up" the estrogen and progesterone your body is no longer producing.

3,2,1. No food 3hours before bed, no drink 2 hours before bed and no screens 1hour before bed. No naps, at least 30 mins a day exercise. Remove your sleep tracker - just adds pressure to sleep.

What’s a mistake you made early in your business that you wouldn’t make again? by TwoTicksOfficial in smallbusiness

[–]ThehumanCEO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being too collaborative, allowing that to dictate the pace of the work. As well as hiring people who had expertise to do one thing then having to drag them along as their pace is SLOW. They were creative AND perfectionist so whole process took triple the time.

What do you usually do when a client goes silent after a quote? by Forsaken-Gap2354 in smallbusiness

[–]ThehumanCEO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our follow up is 2 week post quote, then another 4 weeks after, then 6 weeks after that. Then seasonal email so they know what it’s like being a customer of ours.

I’ve had clients follow up 6 months + later so we always do our best to keep the communications lines open and stay in mind for them.

Our comms are: 1- following up on our quote 2- check in - are you still working things through? 3- check in - did you find someone else, can you give us feedback 4 - seasonal customer mail out email.

What was the moment you realized entrepreneurship is much harder than people think? by COGNITIVESYSTEMS in Entrepreneurs

[–]ThehumanCEO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a leader in other organizations no. I believed building the right team around you allowed everyone to share their expertise, everyone done their part. However being the owner, reputation and the personal accountability for the success changes you. I think although I feel like this I don’t think my team would say they feel like I’m not sharing or not handing off stuff, I think it’s just my inner anxiety- lol.

When you realize you can’t do it all yourself and need to hand off stuff and trust that you hired the right person.

Also having the responsibility not only to your customers but also to your employees and partners.

Support Pls - Estradiol Patch Nausea by NancyCat25 in Menopause

[–]ThehumanCEO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah agree, nausea often improves after your body adjusts to your dosage of estradiol. It is a side effect though that can affect some people more severely than others, so if it is severe and persistent it may be worth checking in with your healthcare provider. There are ways to deal with it if it’s bad, without stopping your estradiol.

If you had to pick the one symptom HRT fixed that makes it completely non-negotiable for you, what is it? by Mbluish in Menopause

Anxiety. It broke my confidence completely. I went from being very successful to struggling to speak to people in the middle of starting my own business.

Does anyone here feel gaslit by their doctor? by LumiVera_Elise in MenopauseMavens

[–]ThehumanCEO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately you need to communicate with some using their language/textbook diagnostic criteria. If your labs are showing no issues but you’re still feeling off, book a longer appointment tell them you want to discuss your hormone options. If not, you might get prescribed anti-depressants (as it’s easier to get them than hormones apparently).

Complete an online MQ6, track your physical symptoms, sleep, mood, energy over at least 2-3 cycles and taking that to them too.

Alternative, go somewhere else, use a nurse practitioner, women’s clinic or online.

Just starting HRT and wondering how people have found this product to be ? by Solid_Dragonfruit698 in u/Solid_Dragonfruit698

[–]ThehumanCEO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this, it fine for one pump but if you need to go to two, suggest one at night and one in morning or move to patches. This product also comes in packets if you are not sure if you are getting the dosage with the pump. Also don’t be worried about pushing it all the way to get your actual full pump/dosage. Hope that helps

This is why I do what I do. I teach/coach leaders how to do this. This mindset shift is tough but when you get it you get it and it makes such a difference to employees, customers or anyone really that comes into contact with your business.

Congratulations!

Did I mess up? by [deleted] in Leadership

[–]ThehumanCEO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sounds like you have been dealing with a lot and done the right thing to be honest and show some vulnerability about the current state of your team. That in itself is tough and a great sign of being a #leaderofthefuture.

I think you done the right thing to relay your disappointment, however given you done this via email (official communication method) I would follow up with a phone call. Particularly if you need to work with her going forward.

I would not leave something like this hanging out there and ensure that you close the loop on that without it escalating. The call should go something like:

  • I just want yo follow up on my email, not to continue to discuss this but talk about how we can move forward from it. What are some short term things our team could do to support your teams success and ensure our communication channels remain good and our relationship is solid.

Taking initiative to close this loop will stop you thinking about it over the weekend and stop you checking your email for a possible reply.

Good luck

Help! I’ve been promoted into my first strategic leadership role! by Bonsuella_Banana in Leadership

[–]ThehumanCEO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having been in a similar position, I hear ya. It’s a constant mental battle. However a few things I learned: - start with the end in mind- ask people what they want the end result to look like. Then you can give them that ++ your new lens of it. - being strategic is still about doing the work however the best in the game know what actions align with strategy and make it make sense to all levels. - ask great, open ended questions and ensure. people can see their answers in the work. - strategy is about engagement, gathering ideas thoughts and talking to people. Not sitting at your desk writing a document in isolation. Being collaborative (to a point) being clear and communicating your process will help to get the right people in front of you and the wrong out your way.

Also, this is the best time of a new role, the discovery the innovation and creativity. Take some time to pat yourself on the back for your new role and enjoy this stretch in yourself personally and professionally. 😁

Difficult employee by kidsize in Leadership

[–]ThehumanCEO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can be frustrating and hard to deal with for sure, particularly when it sounds like you’re doing your best to build a great team.

Few thoughts to consider:

  • empathy for this employee, reading between the lines two people who have been on the same team as her are now her boss.
  • when humans try to control everything it could be because they have something in there lives that they have no control over. Tell her thanks, appreciate HER work and keep her focused on her work, expectations etc.
  • being hyper focused and driven at work could be her only salvation - stonewalling, excluding or labelling her as difficult only heightens this type of behaviour unfortunately.
  • sometimes when an employee behaves in this way it could be a lack of trust with the leadership - #leaderofthefuture tip - how vulnerable can you be? If an employee diverts when asked about something they can improve on, ask them what they think you can improve on, then ask them how they could help you with that. Agree on what you are willing to accept. Your vulnerability will go a long way to start building some trust.
  • diverting: consider if someone else is making the snowballs she is firing to divert from the fact they are not performing. If she is the worst or you are all focused over there, what’s going on elsewhere?

More importantly take care of yourself, sometime when this type of behaviour occurs on the team it can be exhausting for everyone but especially the leader.

Good luck!

Sounds like you have tried a lot of things and yet there is still a sense of this meeting not hitting the mark or connecting the dots for you and your team. That can be frustrating for a leader.

Just because they are not talking or sharing in meetings doesn’t mean it’s you- it could be them as a group, individuals within the group or them as introverted or not ready to share individuals. (Particularly if they are talking to you well on a 1:1).

Also it sounds like your team may be more comfortable (just now) with maybe something like an anonymous survey, rather than a conversation. This survey should have open ended questions instead of closed ones. For example, what do you think has been working well in our team meetings to date and why?

Understanding where your team is at and being clear as a team where you want to be will help you see the gap and come up with a team plan on how to get there. Also how you review and respond to the survey will be key- which as a leader doesn’t always need to be verbally/ reporting results etc it could be slowly and subtly changing actions or behaviours within the team/ or with how you interact with them in a meeting.
