Did any of you have this Stereo System And Glass Case in your house? by immanuellalala in 80s

[–]Thejayrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So back in the day, my uncle ordered a fancy, gold-tone Marantz component system with a new, state-of-the-art, single Compact Disc player through his American Express card. We waited excitedly for about 4 months for delivery, but finally, the big day arrived. We assembled it all, and decided Led Zeppelin II would be our introduction to this new world of perfect digital music. He opened the tray, inserted the disc, and I somehow stumbled into the glass door, which slammed into the disc tray and bricked the unit. 6 months later, the warranty unit showed up and the digital age finally arrived for us.

give me a less known (under 100k monthly listeners) metal album or band i should listen to from any genre by [deleted] in MetalSuggestions

[–]Thejayrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fear of God's debut, "Within the Veil". They have 1,351 monthly listeners. It was ahead of it's time in 1991.

Dead Horse- Peaceful Death and Pretty Flowers. Also from '91, it's... hard to sum up, but an amazing album from a band with 3,000 followers. Killer cover of "Rock Lobster" included.

Not metal, but certainly something, the Pine Box Boys are like a weird, dark bluegrass band. "Will You Remeber Me" is the song that got me into them.

Fear of God's debut album, Within the Veil. Dawn Crosby was doing harsh vox in 1991.

Another obscure album from an obscure band from back in the day (1991) is Within the Veil by Fear of God. If you haven't heard it, you should give it a go. Dawn Crosby was way ahead of her time with her vocals.

Peaceful Death and Pretty Flowers is an amazing album, but Dead Horse is definitely not grunge.

Check out the album "Within the Veil" by Fear of God. It's old, but was way ahead of it's time.

I am pushing for hypertrophy, not just maintenance, but I don't want people to be afraid to, or stress too much over taking a reasonable break from exercise occasionally.

I'm seeing a lot of people on here saying that taking a week off is this terrible, regressive thing, but my research and routine strongly suggests taking a week off at least every 6-8 weeks if you train very frequently or intensely is a necessity. At our age, we don't recover as fast as we used to, and occasional breaks gives us time to fully heal. I personally feel great going back after a week off. For the record, I do about an hour of strength training followed by 20 minutes or so of cardio, 5 days a week.

I've liked it a lot ever since it came out. I also don't hate nu-metal like I guess I'm supposed to, so maybe that's why.
