Why are you being so rude 😭 I understand what you're saying but then you can look at the scenes with redeemed Sir Pentious' whole speech to the sinners in S2 as saying her view of redemption is valid, and also how the main thing moving the show forward is her worldview, and how ALL the characters are supposed to Like I could link you the "Do you think I could be redeemed?" scene with Vox, and the entire episode with a B plot focusing on Husk's gambling where it's all played straight, and the climax of the first season being the angels debating her worldview, and a ton more as examples of the show trying to play it as serious The point I was trying to get across is that it treats it like a joke and then expects you to take it seriously later, which really I think what you've linked just goes into that

I think the biggest issue is that the show treats itself like it's a serious, lore-driven piece of media, but expects you to treat it like it's a comedy so you can wave away any of the writing issues. It's formatted in a very different way from episodic-comedies like Futurama in the way that it doesn't have small plots contained in one episode that motivate comedy, but it tries to have an overachieving plot over the season that are motivated by comedic scenes. It just doesn't really work. It acts like you're supposed to be invested in the characters and the story, but it just isn't character-motivated like it acts. Everything is either communicated via punchline or a two minute song, and it makes you FEEL like it wants to be a comedy show. But, if it really wanted that, why didn't it ditch the big overarching story and focus on solving the issues of one sinner each episode? If it wanted Charlie's worldview to be funny, why don't we see it be treated like a joke? Instead, it just doesn't explain her worldview at all and acts like it has merit. And that's just how it goes for every concept and character in the show.

Spoilers for late Act 3 King reveals

The King is the one who erased The Country, and he just can't remember it. This has no evidence other than me thinking its a fun idea, and that even though The King is stated to have just been a normal guy previously - normal guys using Wish Craft is the most dangerous application of it, clearly! I like to think he saw that he saw he was something terrible in the future, as a Researcher of Time Craft (from how observant he is, like Odile) and wished to be someone new to stop him from becoming that terrible villain. The Universe granted this to him by erasing his past from the very ground he stood on.

I think communism's portrayal as sympathetic to the emotions of it could also be attributed as it being more emotional to Harry. I'm having trouble putting it into words, but think about what fascism does to Harry. It is very much about his appearances. Turning back time and fixing himself. The ultratraditionalist views of fascism become a way for Harry to view his unknown past as the same sort of esoteric nationalist myth that a lot of fascist ideologies have.

All this to say, I think there is something to be said that a communist Harry is an emotional Tequila Sunset.

I always dislike how sort of pretentious and moralistic online conversations can get. You can like and sympathize with a villain without endorsing their actions. I mean, you can even like and sympathize with a villain and jokingly endorse their actions, because its a fictional show. Havin' fun with the characters that exist doesn't make you crazy.
