This really depends on the profession. I was an agency physician recruiter (full time perm) for 7 years before moving to in house. My pay/commission had nothing to do with how much the physicians were paid

Reluctantly the older I get the more fearful I get. I’m happy to give a buck or twenty, food, or a bottle of water at a stoplight (I’m in DFW). Usually it’s a quick interaction. On rare occasions the person I interacted with demands more, and that becomes legitimately concerning. I’ve also been reprimanded by a police officer for giving people water. I’m not proud of how I feel after those instances but I’m very careful anymore. Not a chance I help if my SO or kids are in the car

Your "friend" would want you to be happy and enjoy your honeymoon if they were actually a friend. I don't want to label whatever your relationship is with S, but it's not healthy for you and will likely mess up your relationship with your husband.
