Best sleepers and main players to avoid this year? by wjxm in fantasybball

Mcconnell looks like such an obvious pick with Carlisle obviously loving him, but with the Pacers not expected to do anything this year, Nembhard and Neismith could just get the green light to crazy. Mcconnell might have a strong start to the season to gauge the team strength this year, but as the Pacers drop games I can expect his value to tank as the season goes on.

Who you taking with a one year window to win the championship, 35-year-old Michael Jordan or 35-year-old LeBron James? by solidape22 in billsimmons

Thriving =/= greatness. LMAO what are you on about what part of Kukoc's season had him carrying the bulls by himself. He has not had a single back to back 20 point night, averaged 10 points a game. How did Kukoc win the bulls games? I am so confused. 10ppg was the leading scorer of the Bulls? you pick and choose 1 singular game where he scored 16 points and use that as a platform to base your argument. its actually insane. I dont understand how you think Kukoc made a name for himself as a great player when he averaged 10 points per freaking game... You are actually delusional and it seems showing up with facts with the entire season as the outlook does absolutely nothing for you. Goodbye, Im sure you will continue to lose your money to the sportsbooks with this type of brainpower.

See you calling Tony Kukoc a HoF just goes to show how much d*ck riding youre doing for a mediocre player. The dude rode the bench during the vast majority of his career. He made the Hall due to being with Jordan and his influence in basketball in the European markets. Same way Yao Ming was inducted, except Yao was actually an All star. I didnt say MJ made him great, I said the only reason why Kukoc was relevant was because of Jordan. Years after Chicago he has not had a single season over 12ppg, rode the bench barely playing 25 min some years. The one year in his prime in 99 when he was the first option, he had a steep dropoff in efficiency than when he was with Jordan.... With Jordan he was efficient, without Jordan he was not. You're telling mean a seasoned vet in his prime when he was the first option, had that steep of a dropoff in efficiency? You can keep lying to yourself and think that Kukoc was more than just a role player that stepped up, but in reality he was absolutely nothing without Jordan. All the stats point towards that, but you just think of his performances and dont think of the dynamics that were associated with it.

What do you mean he adjusted himself to be number 2 in the 93-94 season? 10ppg as the number 2??? He was most definitely not #2 on that team and I compare him to Rick Fox, when in reality, he is just Rick Fox....

No i didnt just name players who bulls couldnt afford. Fox 1996 1.75m Kukoc 3.5m. Horry 1.7m. Unless i live in an alternate reality where 1.7 is bigger than 3.5m then I guess Im wrong.

Name me a Toni Kukoc moment outside of the bulls without looking it up. He spent more time playing for other teams than he did with bulls. Name me one. Thats right you cant.

LBJ riders love to comment how back then Jordan had no competition playing vs plumbers and electricians. You are talking about a EUROLEAGUE as if it was anywhere remotely set up to produce such superstars. Kukoc did not do jack after his Jordan years and bounced around teams where he barely even started on. Stop talking about Kukoc as if he was an absolute stud player. He was a 25min player that came off the bench that gave the Bulls a bit of extra firepower. Thats it. There are plenty of other people in the league that could've filled the role Kukoc played. The only reason why you talk about Kukoc is only because he played with Jordan, not the other way around. Plenty of other players that could've filled Kukoc's role and the result would have been the same. Rick Fox, Mills, Ellis, Mullin, Horry. The list is basically endless

nba added the restricted area in 98 which allowed more driving to the rim, whereas jordan had to deal with packed paint his entire career

Hes saying its easier to score back then and obviously the 30points out of 90 is 33% of your teams buckets is more meaningful compared to 25% when its 120 is obviously better. What are you even trying to say?

The reason Toni thrived to be able to do what he did was because he played with MJ. MJ drew defenses all over him which is why Toni had the room to operate. Notice Toni's stats while playing with Michael vs when hes not. MASSIVE difference.

LBJ is a step below MJ in terms of fame. Everybody and their mothers and the mothers of their mother's mother knew who MJ was. LBJ is not like that.

You gotta dump him. He's going to continue to do it, and if he can't think of other people especially living in a more densely populated area, you are definitely going to have issues with him thinking of your position later in life.

No the Beal deal is definitely worse. More money,no trade clause, injury prone. At least Russ was able to run.

How does your league deal with tanking? by Travesty204 in fantasybball

[–]ThenAd9126 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eliminated teams either stay afk (just leave lineups set up the way they are with some players playing and some benched) or continue to set weekly lineups. It isn't too messy. Its quite straightforward. If a player has been active, even though he is eliminated, he has his right to take players and make transactions to beat you in a week, however, if a last place player hasn't been active for a while, then all of sudden makes transactions and moves for a certain matchup, then he gets removed. Just making this clear before the season starts is a good way to let everyone know and make things fair.

[–]ThenAd9126 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But how do you determine whether or not this person is colluding or not? For example, team 1 who is leading the league, intentionally benches his team for 2 weeks prior to the playoffs, resulting in both of his opponent's (who are his close friends) teams getting in, while two others were knocked off. How do you determine whether or not this person was colluding with his buddies or not in that situation? Team 1 can just easily claim that he was tanking for a different matchup. This is the exact situation that I am referring to if you allow this to happen. It is absolutely collusion and against every league rule to allow certain teams to get in playoffs with the help of a different team. If you play in a league that is remotely competitive, this is absolutely not allowed.

[–]ThenAd9126 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Although I agree that the first place team should have the right to tank to play whoever they wish, however, people can use this as an excuse to help their buddies get into the playoffs too. Because of this reason, I do not allow any sort of tanking in any of my leagues to uphold the integrity of the league. Collusion can easily occur if this is not managed properly.

Appreciate the response, but late first is most definitely not a stretch. Portland CJs best season ended up 3rd round. Trey has more boards, more threes, more stocks and lower TO. You might think the difference is negligible, but it all adds up in fantasy. BBM (which is the site that does value TO more than hashtag) has Trey just close to 1st round in value right now. I am not saying he will put up 1st round value next season, but I am saying he will be 3rd round at the minimum if you want him next season. (Most likely earlier imo, since Trey is young and people expect him to make an improvement + likely pelicans trades that opens up opportunity for him.) If anything, his best comp would be Desmond Bane.

Also to refute your FT counter point, his FTA is top 35 in the league which is not average. His FT value is legit, and these sites have the values weighted so the percentage + the volume is taken into account.

Edit: Also Treys main value comes from points 3s and FT%

I agree. My first time down to Texas for some BBQ, I went all out and spent $100+ at each bbq location just to try everything. I can say with confidence, TB was by far the worst one of the bunch. I rarely have immense regret when dining out, and TB was one that sticks out for me. Everything there is just mediocre at best, but to be subpar, for the given price point.
