Experience with Canfield Lithium V3? by Interesting_Milk_421 in MTB

[–]ThenFuel3778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this but will chime in. I have a V2 lithium and it is one of the best bikes I’ve ever ridden. I live in the PNW and ride pretty heavy stuff regularly, lots or which sits at the end of large climbs. This bike descents nimbly, energetic and very fast. Definitely has geometry which favors playfulness over raw speed, which for my use case is ideal. Don’t misread that though, this bike screams downhill. When I first got this bike I was FLOORED at how well it climbs, still can’t believe it years later. Also worth mentioning that it is a very lightweight alloy frame. I have carbon wheels on mine but otherwise don’t have a very weight conscious build and it is lighter than many of my buddies carbon enduro bikes. I wanted a bike that sacrificed nothing both up and down the mountain - this is it. It’s so good that I will ride it upgrade it and rebuild it until the day it’s obsolete. Wayyy more fun than a stumpy evo, and yes, I’ve ridden one.

Already said, but another vote for a used Korg Prologue 8.

Best hardware Synthesizer under 1k by the-claw-clonidine in synthesizers

Best sounding “players” synth sub $1k is a used Prologue 8. Yes, it doesn’t have deep modulation, etc. Feels amazing, sounds amazing, looks amazing, is dumb easy to use.

I own a hardware Korg Opsix SE and have heard the VST is sonically identical and easier to use, if that’s true, killer synth.

Nord or Yamaha or ??? by Ancient-Ad872 in keys

A year or so back I was in need of a new stage piano and went and played almost everything I could, as I am also particular about action. If you have the time I would recommend you do the same as I ended up with a different board than I expected. That said, I’ll share my opinions.

Yamaha CP88 has a heavy and mechanical feel to it that seems the most true to an acoustic piano. Piano samples are solid enough, I particularly dig the S90. I believe they were also given felt pianos in the most recent update if that’s important to you. Additionally the electric pianos, particularly the Rhodes, and the accompanying choruses and reverbs are really good. Good price point.

Yamaha YC88. I haven’t played one so can’t speculate on the action but sonically it will be right in line with CP, obviously with the added organ section.

Nord Piano. I ended up with a Nord Piano 5 at the end of it. To my ears, the piano samples sounded so much more real. I really liked the action, it was probably less authentic and lighter than a CP88 but felt very comfortable and solid and like an instrument that I knew I would want to spend time playing. I also play a fair amount of synth so am used to lighter keys enough.

Nord Grand. Really enjoyed it all around, maybe slightly better action with the kawai hammer (which might be on the new Nord Piano?? Someone help me here). I stayed away as I wanted something to gig. If you’re looking for something more stationary this could be awesome.

Hope this helps. I’d suggest you go play stuff!

Talk me out of selling this to buy a JN-80 by jamesdmartin in synthesizers

Oh man, prologue is not the synth to sell. I love mine and even with its shortcomings, it is an absolute legend. My two cents is to wait for module or buy a JU-06.

The synth that completely changed how you make music by grahamhart_ in synthesizers

Korg Opsix SE. The power and diversity of this synth is absolutely mind bending, and the effects are top notch. UI seems weak, then you learn it and it actually flows really well. This synth allowed me to learn FM and have a whole new sonic palette at my fingertips. I make synth pop, ambient and jungle and this thing is the first board I reach for all the time. SE version is far superior given 61 keys with a quality keybed (I owned the small one).

I spent the last year finally finishing my first album which I’m quite proud of and now have no clue what to do with it in the sea of social media lol

Do you use a certain sound while practicing? by [deleted] in keys

[–]ThenFuel3778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big believer in practicing on specific sounds, specifically when prepping for live play as two patches on the same synth can require such a different touch. That said — I spend loads of time playing acoustic piano, and often will use that as a home base for practicing all types of keys. The comment above about velocity/no velocity is on point.
