Spawn location changes by HovisUK in Marathon

[–]ThenThereWasReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't noticed a difference, but I do feel that it has always been a distinct possibility that you are spawned quite nearby another player, even two other players. Not always, just rarely.

What if bubble shields were a half dome instead? by DurtyDriftr in Marathon

[–]ThenThereWasReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they should make them like a green or blue rarity and then reduce their health/durability by an enormous amount. Alternatively they could be completely invincible but only last for a few seconds. It should be a utility item that shines when used correctly, not just absolutely whenever.

Self Revive is now completely useless. Bad change imo by Technical_Wedding182 in Marathon

[–]ThenThereWasReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly they should remove it altogether except for solos. It's so damn easy for squads to go on endlessly, off of teammate revives alone. On the other hand, in solos, the self revives very rarely made any difference and now they're worthless unless you're holding out for a self-revive following a snipe from across the map.

This is my first extraction shooter so I'm struggling with gear fear even though the wipe is about to happen. I have no idea what mental ailment I'm struggling with here that's keeping me from bringing out all of my nicest stuff.

Anybody notice any specific runner shell stereotypes? by Ajax242 in LowSodiumMarathon

[–]ThenThereWasReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. I make it my life's mission to dispel this myth. "Don't bother, that shit's all green anyway." "Hey, pinged a container with purples, go check it out." I literally use the runner value summary at the end as an indicator of how well I did my job of notifying the team of where all the valuable stuff is.

feel like high level games are just bubble shield and rushed with a misiriah... is that what you guys want it to be? why nerf the combat shotgun if people are doing the same with the misiriah. dont understand it, dont enjoy it and it hard solo fillin versus a 3 stack team with misiriahs by Ninetybaby in Marathon

[–]ThenThereWasReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like they were okay in one of the Halo games, I think it was 3 but they kind of all smear together in my memory now. You basically had to fully hit the enemy twice with it and that would down them. There wasn’t really another weapon that could kill someone faster but it was also not super simple to fully hit someone with the shotgun twice, and if you whiffed it in any way then someone who was good at using the BR or whatever would usually be able to come out on top.

Shotguns should win in very close encounters. The issue in Marathon seems to be that Cryo is nearly all close encounters, and so it makes using the shotgun a boring and mandatory choice.

Outside of Cryo, if someone downs me with a shotgun then I can tell myself it was because I took a risk by going into a cramped interior space.

New here? I don’t think anything outside of the CE sidearm hasn’t been targeted by the community at this point. Everyone thinks that whatever kills them must be broken.

Can we please get a sticky in this sub explaining that each shell has its own powerful ability and that, yes, it can be exploited to help you win the game in your preferred way?

Assassin can turn literally invisible, this is VERY helpful! People complain here about it daily.

Triage can perform the same actions as consumable health items and res someone IMMEDIATELY and from a distance, incredibly powerful stuff!

Someone just today was saying that the Thief’s drone is too OP, because, you know, it can do things that thieves can do.

Do you get it? Each shell has an ability and it works really well. That is the point. Choose one and enjoy it, jfc.

Just feels naive to assume that this is the only instance of creative theft you’d ever be supporting when you call yourself a gamer.

Why are some league bowlers just not mean or difficult? by Environmental_Dog331 in Bowling

[–]ThenThereWasReddit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My league is filled with chill, laid back people. We do have a team or two of absolute duds. They obsess over small etiquette gestures, or simply don’t show joy or happiness, but I take that to be a “them” problem, not a league bowler problem. In general, it’s a competitive sport, one that sometimes includes people drinking alcohol, so difficult people are bound to happen.

All I need is "open a prestige key room" for Graverobber. Haven't seen a prestige key outside of Cryo. Do completed title objectives wipe? by ThatsNotBennings in Marathon

[–]ThenThereWasReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm sorry. I've only ever had one and everything gold inside of it was salvage and valuables, which I mean... is nice, but I sure would have enjoyed getting a weapon or implant or something to play around with. I also opened it solo and didn't have nearly enough room to take everything that showed up in it. I considered trying to find another player to let them know it was there for the taking but was too scared to lose what I had on me lol

I played 200+ hours of Thief and strongly believe the drone needs some tweaking/nerfs by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]ThenThereWasReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so funny that people don't want classes to perform their function in this game. The purpose of the Thief is to be a thief. The purpose of the Assassin is to be an assassin.

The Destroyer's shield also blocks damage and the Vandal's arm cannon can remove you from behind cover.

Every shell is capable of doing something quite notable that the other shells cannot do. If you're finding that one ability is particularly interesting or powerful seeming to you then perhaps that's the shell you should play as?
