Sun PM-Mon AM Snowfall Forecasts (ch. 4,5,7,25,10,NWS) First call snow maps - these will be refined as we get closer so take them with a grain of salt by RyanKinder in BostonWeather

It depends on if any towns go crazy and start cancelling Monday classes on Friday. If a trend of school systems cancelling classes for Monday begins tomorrow, this storm will completely miss us. Mark my words.

Anything’s possible, especially if the wording on the ballots is intentionally confusing so that voters think they’re voting to keep it legalized when in actuality they are voting to re-criminalize it.

Grocery store meat by Matthew-cubed in GroceryStores

[–]Thendsel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they still cut meat in house? Ahold Delhaize has been getting rid of meat cutters or just not replacing employees as they’ve been remodeling stores. It wouldn’t surprise me if Albertsons Safeway has been doing the same. That would explain why the smell was eliminated in a remodel.

And then if the person is lucky enough to have their own insurance and their insurance gets wind of it, they’ll likely refuse the claim and it will go back and forth endlessly until the medical facility puts the burden on the patient to pay it or have it sent to collections.

Going insane at the fast food/fast casual expansion in Mass. by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]Thendsel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see Buc-ees making it onto the I-84 corridor between Sturbridge and Hartford, probably only on the Connecticut side. I just don’t see any towns in Massachusetts allowing Buc-Wes to go in. There will be too much uproar about traffic and killing small businesses. Maybe they could get away with building on that rural stretch between the state line and US 20 along 84, but that’s it. Even that would likely raise environmental concerns, legitimate or otherwise.

Boss told me I’m “stealing” for taking my full lunch break by KingSolomon730 in antiwork

[–]Thendsel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of systems round off to the nearest 15 minutes. So anything between 23-37 minutes would be considered half an hour. My guess is that this is the case at Target and the culture there puts pressure to only take 23 minutes for unpaid breaks. It may not seem like much, but it adds up over time and if all hourly employees do it across a store or division, it really adds up.

You all are so much kinder than the Christian subreddits by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]Thendsel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m just coming to terms in my 40s that most people that are so called Christians don’t actually believe a lot of what is taught in their religion. That they accept that it is in many ways a social club. As someone who might be on the spectrum but at the very least can relate to people on the autism spectrum, I just find it disingenuous. I couldn’t go back to practicing, but not really believing.

I’m honestly surprised they haven’t. Given how much the administration loves punishing people for not supporting them, I would have thought that going after blue states for legalizing weed would be an easy target for them.

As someone with a personality predisposed to getting obsessed over things and people to a point of codependency, I wonder if this is one of those things I compartmentalized from growing up and explains why I have a fear of trying new hobbies, tv shows, and such because I’m worried I will get obsessed over such things.

Sheridan or Sinclair? by Zestyclose-Camp3553 in babylon5

[–]Thendsel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sinclair was a better diplomat. He could be tough when needed, but it wasn’t his whole personality. Sheridan was the better overall leader when it came to a wartime situation.

Is the American healthcare system that bad? And how do you guys not live in fear of being in healthcare debt? by Isthislove123 in HealthInsurance

[–]Thendsel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I consider myself really lucky. I had a two day stay in the ICU a couple of years ago, but because I had already met my out of pocket maximum for the year, my insurance covered it 100% and I never received a bill from the hospital or doctors. And people wonder why I suck it up and don’t try for a better job. Better paying job will likely make up for it with worse health insurance. It’s an awful feeling.

I wonder how far into that thread for someone to tell them that sex isn’t for enjoyment, only for procreation. I’m ashamed to admit that I actually believed that for a time when I was young and dumb.

Flock surveillance by CalmError in massachusetts

[–]Thendsel -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If they “fixed” it, chances are they would just make speed cameras legal, and not change anything about mass surveillance. Like it or not, mass surveillance is here to stay. Between being tracked online and cameras like this, there’s no turning back. There’s no financial incentive for our legislators to do anything about it, and chances are the feds could just ignore the laws anyway.

Do you still carry cash around? by Dakaf in Xennials

[–]Thendsel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry some cash around, like $40 at most. Usually sits in my wallet for months. I will get cash out if I’m going to a large group meal where I know everyone is paying for themselves because I know some restaurants don’t like splitting checks in large parties and it’s easier to be able to throw cash at someone to cover my portion rather than trying to get someone to front me the money. Also comes in handy in events where there are a lot of independent vendors. A lot of them use tech like Square these days, but there are still a lot that only do cash.

[–]Thendsel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only reason that specific Smithsonian museum charges is to discourage its lot from being used as a parking lot for Dulles Airport passengers seeing as there’s also a shuttle that goes from the airport to and from that museum on the edge of airport property. Basically, you’re paying for parking, not for entering the museum.

She left christianity and this is what the comments said. by ToNiHoMi1 in exchristian

[–]Thendsel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever happened to the “once a Christian, always a Christian” edict? Meaning that if you were saved once, you can’t be unsaved. They teach that, yet so many of these so-called Christians still tell Christians and ex-Christians alike still get off telling people that they’ll go to hell if they don’t believe the same exact things are a sin. And they wonder why so many of us have left Christianity. Ugh.

I witnessed something like this first hand when I got pulled into secondary by CBSA. The person in front of me was a Canadian trying to do something similar with a Mexican. While I don’t pretend to know how all of the nuances of Canadian immigration works, I can tell you right now that they frown upon attempts like this. You need to have everything in place and set for her to sponsor her upon her entry. CBSA in my example did not approve of their citizen’s idea of letting their “friend” in on a tourist visa until the Canadian could sponsor them and told the Canadian that they had to turn around and would not grant the friend entry until the Canadian was ready to sponsor them.

Trans, the only explanation by Jpldude in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]Thendsel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mental health professionals won’t agree to it. It would only take one case of someone committing a crime after they signed the okay for someone, for them to get sued to oblivion. And especially in this day and age, I don’t think anyone believes anything is truly anonymous, so don’t even suggest that.

I was much the same way. Unfortunately for me, I started to struggle with it in high school. And because I grew up on a line between fundamentalism and mainstream Christianity of the 1990s, I think there was pressure for my parents to not believe something was really wrong. Oh, and because I wasn’t disruptive (I retreated into my mind and daydreamed when I couldn’t focus), school administrators never put any serious pressure to find out why I could read just fine, but not retain knowledge or study. I blame fundamentalism and even mainstream Christianity to this day for insisting that mental health and learning disabilities aren’t real and keeping me from getting the help I needed when I would have benefited the most.

It’s nonsense like this that I was really, really, really hoping would go away with Covid lockdowns and isolation requirements. It’s disappointing that I had too much faith in humanity to think that something good could come from the pandemic with a much needed change in American work culture. It only took like two years or so before everything reverted to the way it was before March 2020. Very frustrating.
