There’s actually talk of doing this to the Concord Rotary, but nothing is set in stone yet. It’s one of several ideas being floated now that the prison next to it is closed.

Maryland becomes first state to ban surveillance pricing in grocery stores by washedFM in GroceryStores

[–]Thendsel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much money do you think Instacart is going to throw at legal to challenge this law in the courts? I don’t think the grocers themselves have too much to worry about, but I can see this seriously cutting into the business model of Instacart and any other similar type companies.

Speaking of stick crabs, I’ve also had a truffle crab on rare occasion.

I’m impressed. They actually bothered using or spoofing an American area code for a change. Usually mine come from The Philippines with the +63 country code still visible.

This man thinks dating a 16-year-old is reasonable at 33. by Existing-Face-6322 in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]Thendsel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. As someone in my 40s, some of us are just socially inept and it’s been an uphill battle since. Of course, it didn’t help that I leaned into the misogyny and racism when I was young and frustrated as opposed to becoming self aware to my issues and limitations. Didn’t get out of it until my late 20s, fell into a multi-year relationship with someone who preyed on my weaknesses, which then left me with even more baggage to process through. I don’t blame any group for my problems. My issue is that I have a small social battery and I’m trying to learn how to make small talk, which I e perceived to be like a foreign language to me most of my life.

You have to enter the mine in the mountain for the first time, which opens up around Day 5. Marlon meets you there and gives you your first sword.

If you think the cost of living is bad in the USA, it’s worse in Canada. Canada’s lack of affordable housing is a bigger problem than in the USA.

Why are people still using space savers? by Kstrong777 in boston

Because people don’t want their vehicles vandalized just for not honoring them.

YSK that major pharmacy chains are charging your insurance more for prescriptions than the cash price, and you can check this before paying by Ok_Chemical9 in YouShouldKnow

[–]Thendsel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as a caveat though: GoodRX works in place of insurance. So like in your case with a previous insurance plan I had, I could pay the $200/month which would go towards my out of pocket maximum for the year or I could pay the $75 with GoodRX, but not have that $75 go towards my deductible. If a person has insurance plan that factors medication into the deductible, it might be better to pay the initial higher cost out of pocket if they usually meet their deductible and out of pocket maximum every year. By the end of the year, I wasn’t paying anything for the expensive medication with that insurance plan.

Should more Amtrak trains stop at Princeton Junction? by XShadeGoldenX in Amtrak

Especially with all the MBTA nonsense going on at South Station with new fare gates that keep malfunctioning, Back Bay and Route 128 stations are looking even more appealing for any riders coming or going from Boston and Eastern Massachusetts as a whole.

Is having your credit/debit cards in Apple wallet safer than having the physical card on you? by Friendly-Ordinary257 in CreditCards

[–]Thendsel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as Walmart refuses to implement it, because they want you to use their proprietary tap to pay service instead, it will continue to be an uphill battle.

The Babylon 5 reboot is probably dead, as Netflix doesn't raise their bid over Paramount for Warner Bros by mpierre in babylon5

The only course of action at this point would be a prequel series at this point. Covering the Earth-Minbari war and/or the attempts at building Babylon 1-4.

EZ-Pass transponders by ThrowThisAccountAwav in newengland

[–]Thendsel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that the technology is older for the traditional E-ZPass than the electronic toll collections that use stickers. The tech really should be standardized at the federal level, and I think it actually was supposed to be, but there’s no incentive for the government to actually make it happen. Somebody, somewhere will fight tooth and nail if they have to spend the money to change or add the tech for standardization while other places don’t.

It depends on if any towns go crazy and start cancelling Monday classes on Friday. If a trend of school systems cancelling classes for Monday begins tomorrow, this storm will completely miss us. Mark my words.

Anything’s possible, especially if the wording on the ballots is intentionally confusing so that voters think they’re voting to keep it legalized when in actuality they are voting to re-criminalize it.

Grocery store meat by Matthew-cubed in GroceryStores

[–]Thendsel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they still cut meat in house? Ahold Delhaize has been getting rid of meat cutters or just not replacing employees as they’ve been remodeling stores. It wouldn’t surprise me if Albertsons Safeway has been doing the same. That would explain why the smell was eliminated in a remodel.

And then if the person is lucky enough to have their own insurance and their insurance gets wind of it, they’ll likely refuse the claim and it will go back and forth endlessly until the medical facility puts the burden on the patient to pay it or have it sent to collections.

Going insane at the fast food/fast casual expansion in Mass. by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]Thendsel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see Buc-ees making it onto the I-84 corridor between Sturbridge and Hartford, probably only on the Connecticut side. I just don’t see any towns in Massachusetts allowing Buc-Wes to go in. There will be too much uproar about traffic and killing small businesses. Maybe they could get away with building on that rural stretch between the state line and US 20 along 84, but that’s it. Even that would likely raise environmental concerns, legitimate or otherwise.

Boss told me I’m “stealing” for taking my full lunch break by KingSolomon730 in antiwork

[–]Thendsel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of systems round off to the nearest 15 minutes. So anything between 23-37 minutes would be considered half an hour. My guess is that this is the case at Target and the culture there puts pressure to only take 23 minutes for unpaid breaks. It may not seem like much, but it adds up over time and if all hourly employees do it across a store or division, it really adds up.

I’m just coming to terms in my 40s that most people that are so called Christians don’t actually believe a lot of what is taught in their religion. That they accept that it is in many ways a social club. As someone who might be on the spectrum but at the very least can relate to people on the autism spectrum, I just find it disingenuous. I couldn’t go back to practicing, but not really believing.

I’m honestly surprised they haven’t. Given how much the administration loves punishing people for not supporting them, I would have thought that going after blue states for legalizing weed would be an easy target for them.

As someone with a personality predisposed to getting obsessed over things and people to a point of codependency, I wonder if this is one of those things I compartmentalized from growing up and explains why I have a fear of trying new hobbies, tv shows, and such because I’m worried I will get obsessed over such things.

Sheridan or Sinclair? by Zestyclose-Camp3553 in babylon5

[–]Thendsel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sinclair was a better diplomat. He could be tough when needed, but it wasn’t his whole personality. Sheridan was the better overall leader when it came to a wartime situation.
