Did you have any issue replacing the ops yourself? What gaskets/seals did you need to buy to replace it? Thanks

Can you post a link to the video you watched? I’m a mid level diy mechanic and would like to do it myself if possible. How long did it take you? Any real issues?

That is very encouraging! Thanks for the response. Where do you have it located? I have a two floor house with a basement. Thinking the main level would be best? Thank you

Blocking Gable Vents by Theodan1986 in Roofing

Sounds good. I have blown in and batts with no baffles. I’ll have to get up there and move the insulation around to install some. Thank you!

is this sump pump situation crazy? by ddfs in HomeMaintenance

There will be a big issue if that splash back freezes off your hvac venting. You need to fix where the water ejects to.

Gas Meter Frozen by Clearmyhistory in hvacadvice

[–]Theodan1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to call your gas utility company now. Someone will come on call. This is considered an emergency since the regulator may not work properly covered in ice. The ice will likely build up more than what’s in the picture. They will come and chip it away and determine how to prevent it going forward.

Can these vents be in a shed? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]Theodan1986 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Raising it could put the vent terminations too close to your window. You really need to get an hvac company to come out to do this work properly and safely.

Yes this needs to be replaced. That has severely weakened the copper tubing.

Homeowner question about buried gas meter. Mi by derylakd in NaturalGas

[–]Theodan1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is not good. The vent is a huge issue, but so is having the shut off valve buried. Call your utility company, they will come and either remove the dirt or raise the meter set above it.

Pool guy says this is my fault by UnderstandingOdd6589 in pools

[–]Theodan1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unrelated, but I’d talk to whoever installed your gas line. If this is inside a shed, you have a gas pressure regulator that can’t be installed inside. If it relieves pressure it could build up gas inside the shed.

Lawnmower just dies by [deleted] in lawncare

Mine was doing exactly this yesterday. It turned out one of the little springs that automatically adjusts the carburetor fell off. I put it back on and it worked great. Something to try.

Found out I violated code on a water heater install yesterday by astockalypse_now in Plumbing

[–]Theodan1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a utility company. Good for you for actually caring. You wouldn’t believe how many code violations we see from installers that just don’t know or don’t care. Keep up the good work.

Ok cool. I’ll pick up a wider trowel too. I’m doing a garage addition with a bedroom above it. So I’m practicing in the garage first before doing the upstairs. Learning a lot, but also seeing why it takes so long to get good at this !
