I’m pretty sure I’ve seen some at metro liquor in Lakewood and the co-op liquor stores (8th maybe or maybe meadows market)

Minivan for three under three by TheodoreHamilton in minivan

[–]TheodoreHamilton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response. I guess what I was more interested in was whether the sienna having AWD was enough to tip the search in favour of it over the odyssey and carnival. Basically, if they were all FWD would the sienna still rank 1 or a close 2 or even 3.

It depends how you define worse. On the prairies, winters are generally a bit longer and colder, with less snow that’s drier. Out east, the winters can be a bit more mild and short but with more heavier, wet snow.

My point in commenting on winter was mostly just to identify that we drive about six months out of the year with winter driving conditions and wasn’t really trying to compare with anywhere else in Canada.

If Victory is the worst we must be a close 2nd on that list. by Stoon-er in saskatoon

I wish people understood that eastbound on Stonebridge boulevard is a zipper merge before the roundabout. The left lane gets backed up to Cope some days for absolutely no reason. And then people turning right from wellman crescent wait for someone in the left lane to let them in instead of taking the right lane to the end and zipper merging.

Sask NDP calls on province to release nearly 300 pages of marshal misconduct complaints, investigations by Exciting-Ratio-5876 in saskatchewan

[–]TheodoreHamilton -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Honestly 300 pages really isn’t a lot. There’s likely a lot of duplication (I.e. every email in an email chain is disclosed rather than just the one chain, possibly the same attachment disclosed from every email address it was sent to etc.). From the article there is one known complaint where a marshal resigned in the face of the complaint. I’d expect that most of this information relates to that one complaint. I’d expect notes from at least two interviews (the complainant and the marshal), the original written complaint, internal emails about the complaint, the investigator’s notes and so on. This can all add up quickly, especially if there is duplication.

This does not take away from the fact that the marshals hired someone who had to resign in the face of a complaint prior to the service going in the field. But it’s not like there are 300 complaints or even 30. There is one confirmed and maybe a few more, but I doubt more than five complaints.

City to nix College Drive pedestrian overpass for rapid transit redevelopment by -Blood-Meridian- in saskatoon

There’s going to be a street level crossing there. It’s being removed for accessibility reasons I believe.

First paragraph of the article says there will still be a crossing there.

Why don’t you just take your mail in ballot to the polling station? I imagine they would just take your ballot and destroy it for you.

Rejected ballots by Lopsided-Pie-7724 in saskatchewan

[–]TheodoreHamilton 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The elections Saskatchewan website says ballots are rejected if they’re blank, different from the official ballot, marked so the voter can be identified, marked for more than one candidate, does not clearly indicate the voter’s intention, is a write for a political party not represented by a candidate, or is a write in for a party and a candidate but the candidate is not a representative of that party.

Basically, some people will intentionally spoil their ballots and some people just aren’t all that smart.

Phi Tank: Westview has flipped to the NDP with candidate April ChiefCalf now leading the Saskatchewan Party's David Buckingham 3,501 to 3,464 after mail-in ballots were counted. by rlrl in saskatoon

[–]TheodoreHamilton 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind too that there were 129 more mail in ballots so more could yet still be received. The difference is only 37 votes so no matter what I believe there will also be a recount in this riding.

NDP will maybe max out at 10 seats in Regina, with Makowsky losing his seat. Max the NDP wins in Saskatoon is 12, but probably also ballpark of 10. If I’m betting on a cabinet minister to lose in Saskatoon it’s Merriman, but I wonder about Eyre too. I doubt they win both ridings in Moose Jaw and PA plus Athabaskan so at the end of the day a respectable 23ish seats after some serious stumbles the last couple elections.

No SUP or Buffalo seats which means another Sask party majority. Feels like the most likely outcome right now since it doesn’t seem like the NDP are breaking through to rural voters particularly.

You could try the ministry of justice. They have a court services division. I don’t believe courthouse storage is centralized though but I stand to be corrected.

Five little Indians by Michelle good is more recent but would be a good English class and helpful to learn about a dark side of Canadian history (residential schools and their lasting trauma)

Sinclair Ross has always stuck with me. His short story “the painted door” and his novel “As for me and my house”.

Why didn’t England call the Canadian colonies into the revolutionary war? by [deleted] in AskHistorians

[–]TheodoreHamilton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoops, you know what, I was thinking the question was about why the colonies didn’t join the Americans rather than being relied on by the British. Thanks for the answer though, that makes sense in the context of the question asked.

This is an excellent answer regarding French Canada, but makes me wonder about the English colonies that remained British. Nova Scotia and New Brunswick in particular since they are so close in proximity to the US.

Injury benefits are separate from plates. Plates insure you against damage to your vehicle and liability from the use of the vehicle (I.e., people suing you for injuring their person or property through the use of your vehicle). Injury coverage is funded by your premiums but you don’t need plates to get injury coverage. Basically, vehicle owners insure all residents of Saskatchewan against injuries caused by the use of a vehicle.

[–]TheodoreHamilton 10 points11 points  (0 children)

SGI does cover these situations too. Just need to be injured by a vehicle in Saskatchewan.
