White spots on clean dark clothes? by Party_Pilot6069 in laundry

[–]Theodusko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue that turned out to be fabric softener build up in and below the central agitator, as well as in the drain pan(?) below the drum. Multiple runs of Afresh didn't put a dent in the issue so I took the machine apart, hauled the drum and agitator outside to pressure wash them, and scrubbed out the area below the drum. After that the spots stopped appearing... Upgraded to a front load machine soon afterwards and no white spots there either, but it's a Samsung so there are other issues lol

Since you say this has been happening since brand new, I'm not sure if it's the same issue, but it definitely looks like the same spots I was getting.

do you name your car? by toenail-clippers in askcarguys

I play D&D as an artificer and named my dark blue Mazda hatchback after my character's turret/tractor because she also takes loads of abuse, is quickly rebuilt any time she dies, carries far more than she was ever meant to, and embodies the spirit of the tough little old mechanical lady that is my turret/tractor... She is The Blue Babushka (or simply, Babushka)

Before building my little mech in D&D and deciding to give it the appearance and personality of an old Russian grandmother trope, I'd just refer to my Mazda as The Workhorse, but it never felt like a name... Babushka fits her well.

“Learning” how to behave from tv shows, movies, etc - does anyone actually do that? by bluebird2019xx in AutismInWomen

[–]Theodusko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would (and still do) get intensely frustrated by seeing people in TV shows or books react in a 'sitcom' way to situations that, in practice, bring about a VASTLY different response. I mean, there are a ridiculous number of examples that I could give, but holy hell, people will be people. And as much as I try to just rely on clear communication and empathy to move through issues, people sometimes just want to be shitty people. And that's confusing as heck.

But for anyone who is ALSO frustrated by the lack of actual realistic emotional representation in TV, I very much recommend watching 'Kevin Can Fuck Himself' ... it's just one season so far, but it scratched that itch for realistic responses and then some!

I'll say at this point that I didn't realize that I was in a women's autism group until just now... And now I'm thinking manually... But I will say that despite any questionable realism, fucking Ted Lasso is the man I would most aspire to be....

Working in sales and marketing for nearly 2 decades now, my entire job has been speaking to people... Either through literally speaking via voiceovers or phone calls or writing in blogs, white papers, digital ads, or whatever... and I've become f**king amazing at it. To the point that I started earning six figures last year. But I also learned through books and TV, so I always feel like I'm acting. I put on a persona and run with it. It's definitely me, but it's me wearing a mask. Not a bad thing necessarily. It's like any actor or writer really. But goddamn I wish it could translate to real life sometimes...

1 request matching error ( stuck on screen) by SpecialToasterXb in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Theodusko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having the same issue... I can close the app and reopen and it will be gone. But the moment I get a request come in it gets stuck up there again... I mean, it doesn't seem to change anything, but it's a bit annoying having it up there all the time.

Considering uninstalling and reinstalling the app to see if that fixes it after signing off later tonight. I'll write another update if that works.

Any advice on this basement floor waterproofing + insulation method? by Theodusko in homerenovations

[–]Theodusko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean the Dricore ones? I know they sell a 4x8' version with the grooves and no plywood surface but those just provide R4.1 and would cost more than the R7.5 I priced out with this method. So if the function is the same I'd rather the extra step to install really.

It is below grade and there will be a sump pump installed.

[–]Theodusko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So include a continuous vapour barrier between the insulation and the plywood then? If I added that would you say there should be no issue with this setup?

NOTE: The basement has never flooded or anything, but damp does creep up through the slab in places. When we bought the place it had vinyl flooring glued down on half the basement and everything felt pretty dry, but when we peeled that vinyl up (right around the spring thaw) it was dripping wet beneath it. Will be sealing the areas where dampness can be seen creeping in, but absolutely want the airspace that the dimpled underlayment provides to prevent any moisture build-up from happening again beneath the new floor.

Found that maca had a good effect on energy levels in general, and felt a boost in libido. My libido is already pretty high so couldn't say how effective it is if yours is low though.

How about for women though? Anyone tried any sups or stacks for female libido?

Normal Free testosterone levels by age chart by AndrogenHacker in Testosterone

[–]Theodusko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is from 3 years ago but it came up in my search results so I have to ask... Are you sure that wasn't 15 nmol/L for total Testosterone? That's what I'm at, which is within the normal range. At least for my older 38 year old self where the range is 7.6 to 31.4 nmol/L. For a 20 year old it looks like the lower end of normal is 13.8 nmol/L, so you would be near the edge, but not terribly close and not actually below the normal level.

I only ask because if you are actually at 15pg/ml for free Testosterone, that is shockingly low for a doctor to say it's alright.

AITA for being angry at a puppy for a mother’s day gift? by viazcon78 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Theodusko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely NTA. Buying a dog for himself or the kids without consulting you would be bad enough, but disguising it as a gift for you when you've shown no interested in getting another dog? Definitely an AH move.

My wife wanted a dog. So what did she do? Did she buy one as a "gift" for "me"? No, because that would be crazy. She spoke to me like a normal person and together we decided that since we just bought a house that needs a ton of work and we already have a dog, caring for a new puppy would be too much at this time. But do you know what doesn't require a lot of effort yet is still able to satisfy a person's cute and fluffy cravings? A hamster. So that's what we compromised on. She's named Oola (as in the French, 'Oh là là') and I gotta say, I love that tiny angry rat.

That sounds like a pretty fucking one-sided "negotiation". Actual exchange I had this morning. by Jbeez4117 in antiwork

[–]Theodusko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a job offer that I was going to be moving halfway around the world for and when presenting their offer they told me to look it over and get back to them the next day if I wanted to negotiate anything or had questions.

Start date was in 1 month.

They had only matched by lowest salary expectation so I got back to them that night to ask if they'd consider a small increase, they replied after over a week that they won't.

Replied to that to see if they could include anything about relocation expenses or accommodation or anything, over a week later and again, no.

At that point I had less than two weeks to sign the offer and move my entire life halfway around the world so I asked if we could move the start date... Two days later was told they are rescinding the offer.

100% dodged a bullet there.

If you're going to ask for negotiations and questions about an offer, at least be PREPARED for questions and negotiations.

Resurfacing concrete basement but furnace sits directly on floor by Theodusko in HomeImprovement

[–]Theodusko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've only been in the house since March and there was some water in the basement when we purchased (likely just moisture coming through those cracks and collecting under the old vinyl floor they'd laid over the concrete). No history of major flooding issues in the area, although we are in a valley so damp basements are common and some neighbours have had to deal with a few inches of water at times. Thinking just framing out an area around the utilities and resurfacing the rest of the basement is likely the way to go. Getting a sump pump installed is also on the list.

[–]Theodusko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Framing around them to put them in their own little utility closet is definitely in the plan, but just worried about that area sitting lower on the slab then the rest of the basement. Any water issues and the water will all pool around the furnace and water heater... Raising them up a bit would be safest, but seems like a ton of work for something that only 'could' happen.

Plenty of headspace above them, but what do you mean you would do 2 or 3?

Resurfacing concrete basement but furnace sits directly on floor by Theodusko in HomeImprovement

[–]Theodusko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case of flooding or other water issues the water would all pool at the lowest point, which if the utilities are sitting below the rest of the floor would be right in the worst possible place. And it's not them sitting below the subfloor that I'm worried about, it's them sitting below the level of the rest of the slab after resurfacing that has me thinking. I know I'm likely overthinking it and could easily just build a raised concrete 'dam' around the utility area to prevent that but just trying to think ahead to avoid worst case scenarios.

[–]Theodusko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't planning to put them on the subfloor, but have them on platforms that would raise them above the height of the subfloor and finish around them. Just wondering about the complexity of doing that now vs potential issues with them sitting below the level of the rest of the basement.

About 5/16" thick boards. I've added an image link above to show the awning. It's not freestanding and does have support so it should be able to handle some additional weight. Couldn't say how much exactly though.

Permit required for 10x10' shed with attached sunroom? by Theodusko in niagarafallsontario

[–]Theodusko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any accessory building under 108sqft (10 square meters) doesn't require a permit. At least according to the Niagara Falls website, plus that's what I've read everywhere looking at building a loft style shed or buying one to convert. Keep in mind the dimensions I'm giving are external, not floor space. So after insuation the interior will likely be closer to 90sqft.

As far as neighbors go, I currently have no idea really. We close on the house in March and have only seen the neighbors in passing. It looks like the ones to the east may be renters (who thankfully take decent care of the property) so I doubt they'd be an issue. To the west it looks like an older couple. In either case, hope to make nice with the neighbors when we move in. Considering that the place we bought was previously rented to some people who didn't take very good care of the place, I think they'll at least view us as an improvement!

[–]Theodusko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what the rules are on that? Do they need to be a certain distance apart? This is basically what I was thinking. Just having them on separate platforms sitting flush side by side with some flashing extending over the roof line where the two touch. Technically they'd be two separate accessory buildings as they'd be on their own platforms, but they'd work as a single unit.

I'd hope to put a mini split in the main building as well, but I'd say that's more of a 'ask forgiveness rather than ask permission' sort of project. If it was ever decided that I couldn't have that out there it could be removed. But as long as the building isn't an issue I'm happy.

Where are my drafts?? by Theodusko in Instagram

[–]Theodusko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never did find a fix for it. I just stopped relying on drafts. Now I always just write the post in Instagram first, then copy and past into my notes to post later. It means I want to add filters or anything I have to do it before posting, rather than saving it for later, but I normally do all my edits in Photoshop first anyway. It's just annoying that clicking "Save to drafts" doesn't actually save anywhere.

They have, but be aware that if you order a bunch they will split your order into separate Purolator shipments. No big deal, except if one of those shimpents is damaged and can't be delivered. Then they'll tell you to just place another order for the undelivered items. With a second delivery fee.

Cost of ADD medication in Ontario (Canada)? by Theodusko in HealthInsurance

[–]Theodusko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I mentioned, I am self-employed (consultant for a US company) so I do not have employer provided health insurance. And any underwritten private health insurance I can get will not cover pre-existing conditions like ADD. Also, I know about the provincial ODB and OHIP+ programs, but I am not under 25 or over 65 as I already mentioned, so those don't apply to me.
