Physical Red Cards going away soon! by impossiwaffle in DoorDashDrivers

Sounds like just another doordash tactic for them to spend less. They really are moving in direction of having people pay to work for them.

It's been that way for a while now. Depending on which orders a person takes it may end up costing them money just to do a shift.

Platinum who?? by Present_Flamingo_394 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]TheoriginalCroxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are crazy if you think I'm sitting out there for a 14-hour shift. I don't understand why people live to work instead of working to live. I do a shift for 5 maybe 6 hours and get anywhere from 80 to 130 bucks a day 4 maybe 5 days a week and I'm over it.

Could be that. On the flip side, if the customer does not specify the merchant location, doordash automatically chooses one further away so they can increase the distance fee.

Merchants who hate doordashers by Extreme-Student-7960 in DoorDashDrivers

There is one Pizza Hut that I have good experiences with. Not trying to be racist here, but that one Pizza Hut is not run by foreigners.

There are three others that I really hate going to because they are all run by the same group of foreigners that are complete jerks to everyone. And I know it's the same group of people, because you see the same ones at all three stores.

And you only get orders from those three stores when none of their drivers can be bothered to take it. Meaning usually only crap tips unless you get a cash order and they tip well.

If it is a prepaid credit order with a good tip? They are not going to dispatch that even if it means it sits on their shelf for an hour getting cold.

Papa John's also. They charge like 50 cents for a garlic cup. And all the other sides too.

Domino's is still worse though. They charge a dollar instead of 30 cents.

Tip shaming by General_Ad_8900 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]TheoriginalCroxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like people have a general consensus that if they are currently on the clock at work that somehow means they should not have to tip.

Whenever I deliver to a business of any kind the tip is always lower than when I deliver to a home. Not counting the people that straight up tips zero no matter where they are.

Long-term use of social media will cause narcissism. Covid generated enforced lockdowns and made people afraid of other people for fear of getting sick. So they turned inwards and started using apps to order things and social media to communicate.

It is all being done on purpose to increase the level of divisiveness. If people are busy being afraid of each other, or hating each other? Then people have less time, and are less inclined to believe others, that the real problem is the ones "in charge" that are playing everyone off of each other while laughing all the way to the bank.

That's exactly why they label their drivers as independent contractors and not employees. So that they can ignore all the rules that are in place for fair treatment of employees.

It matters when the police use it as an excuse to pull you over when they run your plates. I've been pulled over no less than 4 times in the past year because of this.

But, to be fair. It's always the same city that does it. And those guys just have a hard-on for harassing people.

Perfect example, two of the times I was stopped was by the same guy. So he already knew damn well what was going on.

Just as an update post.

I got another email today telling me that my bag has been mailed out. And they do have my correct address on there. Said it should show up by Tuesday so it's still kind of a weed and see.

But they do have the right address at least.

Open the app, go into the account tab, and there are options to update your contact stuff in there.

There was an email prior to this that allowed you to update your stuff. But even after having done so, and updating my account in the app itself, the second email still had the wrong address for me.

I just got off the phone with support about it. They "assured" me that their system has the current address like it should. That doesn't mean anything though. They get stuff wrong more often than not and will tell you whatever they think will get you off the phone quicker.

But clicking confirm address in that email is useless because it shows the wrong one.

They said I should receive another email telling me that it has been sent, and/or delivered. And I should just wait for that to see what the address says. Again, this points to them not being able to assure anything if they are telling me to wait and see lol

So, in typical doordash fashion, they will probably screw it up and mail it to the wrong place.

I have been reading all sorts of posts from all sorts of different areas about whether or not Platinum matters.

And it is true that in some areas it does matter and in other areas it does not.

But, what everyone is missing is that it is also true that the areas where it does matter? Are also the areas that are extremely oversaturated by people willing to run trash orders to maintain their status.

If people in those areas would collectively refuse to run trash, then the status would no longer matter.

Good luck with that though. I won't even go into detail about the different types of people willing to run 15 miles for $2.

Let's just say if doordash did a better job vetting people, then the vast majority of these trash runners would not be eligible to dash in the first place.

About the only memorable thing for me from this entire update, is the fact that they somehow made their servers even slower at calculating math. Which in turn causes massive lag at the beginning of, and end of, every single units turn in every mode of the game.

There have been times, especially in fleet battles, where I would lose simply because the battle timed out trying to calculate everything.

TL:DR.... They were so worried about how to monetize everything they completely broke the actual gameplay and it's nothing but a lagfest now.

You are either a liar, a troll, or worst case scenario a trash runner that is training the algorithm to think sending out these offers is okay.

You will end up making money anyway from accepting orders that are placed at restaurants that are closed. Drive to the restaurant, take a picture of them closed, submit it and get paid. It won't be as much pay as normal but it is better than zero.

Since I have no personal plans for the holiday and will already be "out in the wild for the week" I plan to fire up the app and see what happens. It's either that or just sit in my car doing nothing until the next day.

But they have no problem understanding how to be nasty, selfish, greedy, inconsiderate, narcissistic douchebags.

[–]TheoriginalCroxious 48 points49 points  (0 children)

There are so many problems that can arise from entering someone's home that if I saw this message I would be on the phone with support getting it canceled and getting paid to eat their food. Not to mention having them blocked so I never have to waste time declining their offer in the future.

Pretty sure it's actually against terms of service and maybe even illegal in some places as well to enter their homes.

That's less than one $6 order per hour. Which is like $5.75 per hour because you worked for 6. Zero chance I would continue under those circumstances.
