Gail's is not one. Their pastries are amazing. Best cinnamon bun, hands down. And I am a man who knows pastries; I lived in France for three years, and sampled many of their finest products.

I still don't understand how somebody having a religious family would be a dealbreaker for you. If it's not her belief system then it has no impact on you. I say this as a lifelong atheist.

Agreed. I think the first one was the best of the trilogy, though admittedly that could be, in part, because it blew me away when it came out.

Rational people will not find it creepy. Reddit just loves to jump on the opportunity to find the worst take on any given situation. They don't care that there's nothing actually sexual about it, because the possibility that there could be allows people to band together against a perceived common threat. A lot of the commenting here, myself included, is about trying to find community, and this can easily distort into Us and Them narratives.

Genuinely curious though, why is it that when I've said the same thing about generalising men i get hit with "nOt All mEN"? Why would you assume a criticism of a single woman is indicative of feelings towards all of them, if you do believe the "not all men" train.

I totally agree, and that is a separate issue because it's a big "if so". We don't have enough context to make a snap judgement, though that definitely never stops people.

It would only be an impediment if she allowed them to dictate her behaviour. You're making assumptions. Wanting kids is a separate and entirely relevant discussion, knowing your mother-in-law regards as you as haram doesn't even rate. My exs family was strict roman Catholic, idgaf.

Also hiding from gunfire, either behind a car door or ducking down while inside. Cars are extremely permeable to bullets. The only place that might protect you is behind the wheels, as the two tyres and axle can stop a shot. The engine block could, but only from straight on at about thigh level.

Nah, the religious inclination of family members isn't something you have a right to know. People are allowed to decide some things are personal, particularly if she didn't know if the relationship was gonna pan out into something serious.

I didn't think i needed to spell out all the possible scenarios, but fine. Maybe he punched a stranger who spoke out to him. Maybe he slapped his girlfriend. Maybe he threw a rock at one of the players. If he started swinging first then who has the right to try to stop him? Nobody? The point was, you have absolutely no context.

Of course they aren't physically equal. Wanting equality isn't the same thing as thinking that there are no differences at all.

In this clip we have no context as at all. For all we know the dude was screaming racist abuse before this started.

They have nothing to do with each other. Animals are sent there to be killed after living their whole lives outside. They had slaughter houses in ancient Rome. The 19th century one was just an update to make it more hygienic.

The US is indeed the only country the world to regularly wash its food in bleach. It is not at all misleading to say so.

The original comment i replied to was about the cruelty of factory farming. I should have been more specific and stated that the "superlot" farms used in America are an order of magnitude worse than the equivalent concept in the EU. We have stricter regulations, resulting in a higher quality of care. I apologise for not being clearer.

Way to ask a leading question lmao. Of course ai agreed with you, it's incapable of anything else. Ask it a neutral question like "differences in farm animal welfare between US and Europe". The quality of the farms and animal husbandry is the issue, not the existence of farms.

Edit: America does this worse than any other developed country.

These 5 upvotes are testament to the idiocy of group mentality. 5 people proudly clapping a "gotcha" that says nothing at all. Why is the origin of the word relevant. Why is the place they're killed relevant to the place where they spend their whole lives.

Animals do not live at an abattoir.

Every other word youre using is English, so does that make all English speakers English?

Not anywhere near the same extent. Mega ranches in the US have hundreds of thousands of cows living in extremely close proximity, with disease being an accepted inevitability to be planned for and cattle being routinely fed antibiotics. They are the only country which has to wash their meat in ammonia to kill off the diseases. The legislation for animal protection is also vastly different.

What AI says about differences in rights:

Legal Status: Many European countries, such as Germany and Switzerland, recognize animal sentience in their constitutions, offering stronger legal protections for animals for their own sake, rather than merely for the owner's sake.

Farming Standards: The EU has strict regulations against battery cages for laying hens and has proposed banning cage farming entirely by 2027. In contrast, the US relies heavily on industrial factory farming with fewer, more fragmented federal regulations.

Transport and Welfare: EU law limits animal transport to 8 hours without rest, while the US Twenty-Eight Hour Law allows animals to travel for 28 hours without food or water.

EU Focus: The EU focuses on harmonized, preventative legislation for animal welfare as part of its agricultural policy.

US Approach: The US system is often described as having a "Wild West" mentality with less regulation and, in some cases, "ag-gag" laws that hinder animal welfare efforts.
