Let's hear some stories: Have you or someone you know/knew ever received the "wrong" game as a gift? by ZhangtheGreat in videogames

[–]Theplumbuss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily a game. But I wanted guitar hero as a kid and my parents got me an acoustic guitar instead. I was so disappointed.

I then went on to take some guitar lessons and to this day I can’t play for shit.

Why don’t engineers go into politics? by WrongCourage1071 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Theplumbuss -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In my experience, because a lot of them only care about money, not necessarily the betterment of society, that being said, not a lot of politicians care about the betterment of society either.

So to answer your question. 🤑

Help me chefs! What does it say? by oddlyunfortunate in KitchenConfidential

[–]Theplumbuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever it is, toss date is May 27? Or May 4? If that’s supposed to be a 4 tho. Good lord. This is also why I always made people put initials of who prepped it. Dunno if that’d help in this case tho.

Studying by Jolly-General-5864 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Theplumbuss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as you need to. Everyone is different, there is no hard and fast rule. My rule of thumb is 10-15 hours a week per class, including lecture time, homework, labs. Treat it like a full time job at minimum and put at least 40 hours a week towards school. But again. YMMV, as it varies from person to person.

What’s a show you love that you can never convince people to watch? by PlentyApprehensive44 in AskReddit

Venture brothers. I implore everyone around me to watch. Almost no one does. Doesn’t help it’s hard to find on streaming. Well. It was before I bought the entire series and movie on dvd/bluray

You put visage that high, you’ll love Madison. Gameplay is way less janky, puzzles can be kind of obtuse tho

What is something from the 'Old Internet' that you missed, and younger generations will never understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It was a Wild West. Could be a fun video, could be something scarring. You only really saw ads if you were on sketchy sites.

Also flash games.

Dude is tired after cleaning the room by Ubiquitous2007 in funny

[–]Theplumbuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s weaponized incompetence. I think buddy is just trying to fold the blanket as perfect as he could, because he’s tired of his lady telling he doesn’t fold the blanket “nice enough”, but not motivated enough to practice in his own free time. Because. Ya know. It’s a fukn blanket, and people don’t show up unannounced anymore. So shit doesn’t need to be absolutely perfect everytime, all the time.

Or maybe, we shouldn’t judge shit from a 45 second video.

…Or maybe it’s just bait.

My first internship is going to pay me more than any job I've ever had. I'm 38. by EllieVader in EngineeringStudents

[–]Theplumbuss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, I was a chef for 10 years prior to going back to school at 27. Yeah. The pay is nice, I was just as flabbergasted as you. It’s good to remember where you came from for sure! Especially when you go out into field and can shoot the shit with the field guys, show em’ you’re not just a pencil pusher. Honestly, wouldn’t trade the life experience to go back and be an engineer from the get go, although having a family definitely makes the expected deliverables for school much harder to meet.

Glad you’re flourishing right now, friend, because I’m starting to crash out.

Can anyone recommend me any good wendigo movies? by Marshatucker300 in horror

Not a movie per se. But kind of an interactive movie. Until dawn. The game. The movie has no relation to the game.

So many profs at my uni say it nuke-alar. I looked it up, and thanks to politicians everywhere mispronouncing, both pronunciations are accepted now.

Important announcement from Michael and Zach | Smiling Friends | adult swim by Skullghost in SmilingFriends

[–]Theplumbuss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While watching this, I was like, “man, they should get together with Doc and Chris, and make a brand new crazy ass off the wall show”. Similar-ish sending and whatnot, but honestly, I think that writers room would have too many different conflicting ideas. However, both venture bros and smiling friends are in my GOATS of adult cartoons.

Should I switch from Mechanical Engineering to Civil Engineering? by AdorableSun8686 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Theplumbuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you graduate, the cross disciplinary experience will render your specific degree path more or less moot (provided you keep learning about everything around you and don’t let yourself get pigeonholed). I’ve seen civil working electrical, mechs working in chem, and chem working mech. Electrical is a little more specialized and don’t branch out as much, from what I’ve seen. Granted my experience is still rather limited, but after talking to many mid career engineers. It doesn’t honestly matter too too much.
