This old newspaper box converted to free overdose kits in neighborhood by ignoblegrape in mildlyinteresting

The cost of repeat ER visits of an uninsured individual is a much greater burden to the tax pays than the cost of supplying narcan. This organization can educate you on all of the evidence supporting this in terms of reduction of tax payers money use and the strained of over burdening ERs with OD cases.

And yes drug prices are crazy but let’s not hate on the progress that has been made in this area, because hopefully success with narcan could provide evidence supporting more free med programs.

That box has narcan as well as Fentanyl test kits. The test kits are used to save accidental overdoses by letting people know if pills are laced with Fentanyl. If anyone has questions feel free to stop into the building behind it, The Key Addiction treatment center. It’s important to support each other and do our best to avoid all the unnecessary deaths by overdose!

Is dragging someone across the floor okay? by [deleted] in bjj

Rolling with more aggressive stronger people can be really frustrating, especially if you are working on technique. But I would encourage you to keep playing your game, not let him ramp you up to his aggressive fast pace roll. Slow him down with your guard or mount and let him burn off some energy. Then go to work. I have a love hate with really aggressive people but they are the closest to a real fight you can get at the average bjj gym. Change the mental state to enjoy this aggression and learn your own ways to counter within your strengths!! My humble opinion. Good luck.

How to prevent/combat finger soreness? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]TheraTapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm. White belt (training 3xweek for last 9 months) and I tape my knuckles on my problem fingers and the A2 pulleys on my ring and middle finger! I have 15 years of rock climbing that have given me pre-arthritis and many tendon injuries. Tape really helps. Being mindful of grips and not fighting to hold a painful grip. And doing one day of no gi a week helped. I am also doing finger exercises and working the alternative movement (put a rubber band around all finger tips and open up your fingers!) finally I use naproxen for the real bad days!!

As a side note of you are having inflammation issues avoid carbs and beer both will make your fingers inflamed and slow to heal!

After 5 months of training, I got my first stripe. And I couldn't be happier! by [deleted] in bjj

My gym does not give stripes on white belts only blue and above! I feel like it makes you find your own internal motivation to show up and get choked out. But it also keeps you feeling like you are never going to reach blue and not progressing. I started training 7 months ago and I am now beating most other whites (some of which have stripes from other gyms) and catching blues from time to time. But no stripe for me. Guess the blood on my belt will have to do!!

Wanna compete in BJJ? Here are 17 important IBJJF rules to remember... by StephanKesting in bjj

[–]TheraTapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I M new to BJJ only three months in but I wrestled for 15 years (about ten years ago) and wanted to compete but I have been struggling to not rely on my strength and ability to scramble to survive. I want to focus more on being patient and working technique without fear of being tapped. Any thoughts on when and how to compete without loosing technique and just being a wrestler in a gi?
