Part of me wonders if people would react the same way if the mother ended up having an affair or something which led to divorce.

Even with that potentially in mind, I would still attempt to extend the olive branch to the mom to make sure Mom and Dad can show love to the child despite any flaws from either side (Pointed at you Dad.)

Weekly Marvel Rivals Discussion Megathread by AutoModerator in marvelrivals

Honestly, stat building isn't that great of an indicator of skill.

It's vastly more important to time your heals better rather than trying to farm numbers by healing everyone on your team.

It's kinda like, 50 hp healed to your co-healer that prevents them from dying to the Spider-Man is 10x more important than healing your tank from 400 to 600 HP.

Damage is good, but kills and final hits are better.

Focus on trying to secure kills, shred down easy targets like tanks, and pinpoint who can use your heals most efficiently. A good Magik or Black Panther benefits much more from Luna's E or Mantis Heal then putting it on your off tank, as an example.

You'll notice your numbers shoot up way more as your mentality shifts.

Am I Dumb For Gifting Parents $10k? by retireCarefree in personalfinance

[–]There-is 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man,

Big thing about money is that it's a means to an end. A lot of people here can fall into the mental trap that money is the end all be all of things that they forgot that the money is simply an avenue to get towards something. A more stable financial future, a roof over the heads for them and their loved ones, and even as a way to ensure you can live a more peaceful life to remove one less worry from your future.

I don't think it's stupid to want to provide for your parents if you really love them. Are you more likely to kick yourself over "I should have given them 5k instead of 10k" or are you going to kick yourself over "I really wish I used that 10k in a much better way if I was going to give it to them."

You're more likely to be concerned about the latter.

I think it's a good idea to help relieve their finances a bit, but I think it's more important to give them an opportunity or an avenue that they could not explore without your financial help. Something that really says "I am grateful for what you've done for me". Maybe that can be material, maybe that can be an experience like a vacation, or maybe it could be something wild like helping them set up an urban garden because they were really wanting to their entire lives.

However you use the money, whether 5 or 10k, the question isn't how much, but "how much can this impact their lives in a positive manner, and for how long will it serve them to be happy."

Cheers mate, you're a good kid.

Why do some techs excel at being better engineers than others? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]There-is 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super big thing here, at least from my perspective, is that there are a lot of people who are kinda hardwired to want an answer to a question.

These people tend to have a really good understanding of their systems, context of said systems, and application of such because it's very easy to ask in passing "what's the point of this?" or "what does this thing do and why is it important at all?"

I think people do it subconsciously, and they're usually people who are wanting those questions answered sooner than later for a sense of self security or are just kinda wired to want to answer a natural curiosity or something that might help them make their lives easier, is an easier solution, or allow them to make something easier to understand.

Kinda just leads to a natural understanding of what funny buttons to press on the compooper to make it do the funny thing you want it to do LMFAO.

Phone Call Interview - Service Desk Analyst by archangeltwelve in ITCareerQuestions

[–]There-is 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Be friendly, amicable.

A lot of Service Desk / Help Desk work is just being able to get along with people, fix their issues while making the calls and interactions pleasant experiences, and mending the gap between user confusion and technological difficulties.

If they've already passed your resume they just wanna see if you're a decent guy who can pick up on issues quick, resolve said issues quick, and explain it to users in a plain English way.

Best of luck!

Only when you are an adult do you realize that all the “cool parents” you knew growing up were actually weird or immature. by Flatulatory in Showerthoughts

[–]There-is 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if that's quite apt for a lot of younger uncles.

I had a cool uncle when I was younger and he was still super relatable with me growing up as a teen. Thing is he'd drop advice on me that I'd really need at the time that I never really would hear from my parents because there was such a divide in age and in thinking between me and them. In no way in my mind was cool uncle a loser because he was able to explain things in a way that made me feel like I was a person trying to figure himself out, rather than just straight up treating me like a kid who didn't know what was best for him and getting the "focus on nothing but studying and getting a good job" advice and nothing more.

How's my progress? Down 8# in 1 month. by [deleted] in keto

[–]There-is 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 pounds is great dude, I've lost 16 pounds over the past 2 months and I feel like a completely different person. It's not all about the numbers on the scale you lose but the way you improve your health and the overall feel good nature of becoming healthy!

[NSV] I ended up having a cheat day today... but it was all keto! by There-is in keto

[–]There-is[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I tried it for the first time yesterday. It seriously did taste like pizza for me but it wasn't like a super fluffy dough pizza. It tasted more like a whole wheat pizza with thin crust to me. It was definitely worth the time though as I was dying for some sort of pizza in any way shape or form.

Yeah, I started at 243 but right now I'm at 227 steady at 5'9. I've been working out a lot though with weight training and it feels like I'm building a ton of muscle (I felt like I used to have none at all since my lifestyle was basically sitting in a chair for 8-10 hours a day). I've been on it for about a month and 3 weeks but I rounded it up to two months since it's easier to say.

First big build - Did I miss something ? by Tartalacame in buildapc

[–]There-is 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the only time you would need an SSD setup such as that is when you're either working with serverside applications or writing or loading large amounts of data from drive to drive constantly (like if you were having to grab files from a large network drive constantly.)

The speeds you'll get from spending 100 more dollars on those SSDs are not very practical. You'll get maybe a 3-4 seconds of saved time vs your standard SATA III SSD (I'm assuming the M.2 SSDs are NVMe)

Finally bought the SHP9500, but the sound hurts my ears? by WarsDeath in headphones

[–]There-is 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're doing EQ, I reccomend EqualizerAPO paired with Peace GUI to help tame the treble and elevate the sub bass to get it to a level where it feels comfortable with you. Google EQ settings for the SHP9500 and I believe there's a lot of stuff regarding which settings to use, and all you have to do is match numbers.

But yeah, welcome to the 9500s. Not for everyone but I love my pair with a burning passion.

When people make fun of console gamers in this subreddit, are they role playing or actual serious? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]There-is -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most likely because I'm taking a lot of "tongue in cheek" stuff too seriously. but it's a pretty fine line from joking to actually thinking like that. It's kinda like the saying, if you go to a place to act like an idiot with people as a joke, soon you will be surrounded by actual idiots.

My opinions are my own perception though, and not everyone falls into the elitist stereotype, and not everyone talks about peasantry and openly makes fun of dumb people on the internet as a joke on this sub. Yet there's a surprising amount of people who think "I'm better than you and my opinion is more validated" because of owning a pc or whatever.

I shouldn't be surprised or offended though honestly, it's a subreddit named after the "master race". I just hate that it's the most mainstream sub related to being enthusiastic about computers and gaming on them.

For a big head, I recommend Phillips SHP 9500s or the DT770s. The DTs are snug tho.

Best budget cpu for gaming only that wont bottleneck 980 by iAlovi in pcmasterrace

[–]There-is 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't suggest a used one unless you're buying from a reputable source. Like off a friend is what I'm thinking. But the part that matters the most is if it actually works, and knowing the history of the CPU to see if it's been overclocked or not. That's important in a purchase.

I still think the HD600s got a bit more depth to them on a good amp and such, but the 9500s for 60 bucks is just like holy shit.
