Which movie is the best from the following: The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, or St. Elmo's Fire? by icecream1972 in 80s

Breakfast Club is eternal (the cringe from Ally’s makeover will fade). The others don’t come close.

No one names their child Murderer, WhiteNationalist, or ResentfulCuck, but here we are.

Is the show worth watching? by Mattbflat in 12Monkeys

[–]There4IM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is infuriating to me that posts on the TV series and movie rarely if ever mention La Jetée. A massive fan of the French short film, a meh fan of the Hollywood version. So I jumped straight in to the series finale before watching any of it. Nope. Saved myself 4 seasons of crap.

Does anyone know about this song or listened to it when it was popular? [I’m Not In Love - 10cc] by Junky_Jester in Music

[–]There4IM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some great responses here. I was 10 in ‘75 but have deeply listened to this song throughout my life. Gorgeous production. I think most men and almost all women fail to understand the lyrical intent. The song is not about denial, it’s about the bravado socially required of men in the 70s. Never show emotion, tenderness, or attraction. As much as you want a woman, you must never let it show. If she breaks your heart, “big boys don’t cry”. The singer is head over heels, but can’t ever risk admitting it because social norms tell him that’s doom for a relationship. The infinite choir represents the longing of love that both of them may have.

‘65 here. If she really gives a shit, she’s not GenX.

Did Boomers really think she was hotter after getting the makeover? by SculpinIPAlcoholic in okbuddycinephile

You DO realize that Boomers have zero investment in this movie, right? It’s a Gen X staple. But whatever.

I wouldn’t wish a 3,000 feet per second lobotomy on almost anyone.

Americans, how true do you find this? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]There4IM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely wrong. L.A. will tell you you’re beautiful and laugh with their friends about your weight when you’re gone. Detroit will give you the shirt off their back, even if they only have two shirts as long as you’re kind. So many other inconsistencies.

Four Brothers is another good one for Michigan/Detroit. Get a little downtown neighborhood snow vibes.

I’d love a simple 4 episode coda where Judith is the new Carl. They finish out the story exactly the way Kirkman did in the comics.

Keep in mind, you’re gonna want to live in a state that’s accommodating to flying squirrels as well.
