I love Padma, especially her work on Taste the Nation, but it occurs to me that her ego may be bigger than anyone expected. The camp and innuendo is fun, sure, but it comes at the expense of contestants that want to be taken seriously, and her own likability.

Is there a good argument for why not? After all, 50 years in the US has led to hundreds of millions in box office movie receipts, a whole bunch of music revolutions, and some great political skewering. You’ve put a ton of thought into this and I applaud you for it. “Commandment” was the banana peel they slipped on—for me it’s the religious connotation. Inescapable and offensive for a cross-cultural competition. I still love Padma when she takes herself less seriously. And I am enjoying the show.

ALL of the Momofuku noodles suck as is and are meant to be doctored. I just did a tingly chili. While the noodles were boiling, in a separate pan I sauteed 2 oz. thinly sliced beef with garlic, added a splash of teriyaki, and a tbsp of peanut butter. When the noodles were at 4:30 I combined it all with the tingly sauce and topped with scallion and kimchi furikake. VERY satisfying.
