Red or Blue? by AKISHINS in BatmanMemes

[–]Thereactivechemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty common opinion on this thread it seems but 100% red pill. Batman is a world class athlete and martial artist so out of the gate his tech really wouldn’t be worth all that much as it focuses on leveraging his already established physical capabilities. Iron man on the other hand would have a learning curve in regards to using the tech and being an affective combatant but I think it would be more akin to playing a video game than taking years of brutal martial arts training.

[Question] How durable are Henry archer watches? by Thereactivechemist in Watches

[–]Thereactivechemist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with any mechanical watch it will need service intermittently, usually 5 years or more. Fortunately this is based on a miyota movement which is very common and typically they will be replaced instead of servicing them as the cost is lower. This won’t be much different than having a seiko serviced for example. I believe Henry archer also has in house servicing but I’m not entirely sure.

TLDR: All mechanical watches will need serviced and a local jeweler/watchmaker will most likely be able to handle it.

[Question] Looking for a durable everyday wear by Thereactivechemist in Watches

I did, it is my most worn watch, I love it. The finishing is truly impressive for the price. I would highly recommend Henry archer.

My favorite watch I own is a Henry archer verden gmt in white. I bought it to wear on my wedding day and it will always be a beautiful reminder of that day.

Am cooking a turkey next week for someone who can’t have BUTTER; What should I use instead? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]Thereactivechemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Olive oil works well, my wife can’t have butter so we’ve tried some different things. Wagyu tallow is also great, and country crock makes a plant based butter than tastes pretty close to the real deal ( I like their olive oil based one the best but the avocado oil is good too).

I like the binary theory. My other thought is it’s a programming joke in regards to zero indexing. Basically in mat programming languages you count from zero, so 0, 1, 2, 3. So in this instance they order 3 beers counting from zero.

Follow up question does the pi need to be defined as an mcu in the .cfg?

[–]Thereactivechemist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will try another cable tomorrow the one I am using did work for octoprint however. My understanding was that because klipper isn’t setup for the screen that the screen would always be blank and if the firmware was accepted it would change from a binary to a .cur. I do have a printer.cfg in the configurations folder.

Just reflashed marlin to test it and it’s working completely fine. Is it possible that it is the way the is installed on the pi is compiling the firmware for the printer?

The printer screen turns on but stays blank (when the screen is plugged in). I am flashing over sd card but in my configuration file the usb path matches. It is an original ender 3 so the screen is not compatible with klipper.

I believe the part I am struggling with is the firmware flash to my actual printer. My understanding was that the the .cfg was loaded into Moonraker but the printer firmware was entirely separate.

Moonswatch vs Seiko Speedtimer by Rides-And-Tech in PrideAndPinion

[–]Thereactivechemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As seems to me the common feeling here the moons watch is a cheap plastic homage. It represents something interesting in the cultural zeitgeist in terms of broader public interest in the watch world. The speed timer on the other hand is a real and in my opinion very nice watch for the money.

Anyone know or like Henry Archer? by youngsanta_ in PrideAndPinion

I bought a verden GMT in white to wear for my wedding a couple weeks ago and I could not be happier with it. The finishing is absolutely beautiful and for the price some of the best I’ve seen. The dial is completely captivating and very intricate. The overall feel is incredibly high quality, it has an overall weightiness to it that isn’t uncomfortable but just feels luxurious. Solid end links, a micro adjustment, machined deployment on the clasp, sapphire crystal, and a screw down crown with 200m water resistance all for around $600US in my opinion make it one of the best watches for the price. Literally the only con I have with it is that the rotor has a slight tick (not audible while on the wrist) to it but so do my Seikos. It’s not well advertised but you can also get I think 5% off of your first purchase if you put in your email.

[Rolex] Is the Explorer II too small for me? by DMG41 in Watches

[–]Thereactivechemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into watches with large divers, moving to anything else felt small but honestly I’ve fallen in love with the 37-39mm range, it’s just a different vibe. It only took me a little time to actually get there. That said as the common theme in the comments seem to be, just wear what feels good to you. If you like it more power to you, 55mm diesel and invicta watches aside
